One of my biggest problems of the show is how Bakugo's character arc was wrapped up by season 3/4 and he was still one of the main characters. He never does anything of value or even remotely interesting that only he could accomplish and his character doesn't develope in any way anymore. The author should either completely sideline Bakugo or he should've given him some depth beyond "I was a bully but I grew out of it"

Although I personally think that Bakugou still deserves to be a main character, I do agree that they should’ve waited to do his arc. Season 6 Bakugou character arc was okay, but the season 7 and possibly 8 is going to be huge for him, especially *spoiler alert* in chapter 362-410. If they waited til something bigger, then it would’ve been written better.
@juannaym8488
@juannaym8488 8 месяцев назад
@@Ayame.Spicer then he wouldn't have anything in the first couple of seasons I think his biggest problem is how he relies entirely on Deku. He has has a little bit of interaction with characters that aren't Deku but his whole arc surrounds the mc. He's like the female love interest that doesn't have any substance beyond the guy they love
@Ayame.Spicer
@Ayame.Spicer 8 месяцев назад
@@juannaym8488 You've got a point. Bakugou is a hard character to make work if you look into it. Even though he has his own ambitions, he's just kinda there. I can see that the writers at least tried to note that he was going through and processing something, probably going after the whole, "He's a good person," "Wait no, he's my enemy," to the "I want to apologize but I don't know how and I know he will never forgive me" kind of prompt. It could've been at least ok if they built up his arc over the seasons, but other than like, 4 episodes, there never really was anything about this and the apology came out of nowhere. I remember watching his arc in seasons 3-4, and then watching season 6 and being like, "M'kay ssssoooo where did this come from? when did he express that much regret for bullying him?" In other words people gotta write psychological and mental related arcs better. They never really told us about he was feeling besides a few scenes, so we don't have any deep understanding with him besides his either A, parent issues, and B, his angst with Deku. So yes, you are correct.

The still shots of Mirio fighting Overhaul in season 4 weren’t present in the manga and instead it was just a text saying how hard Mirio fought. You could say the anime added at least something rather than making a black screen and have someone narrate it. All of Overhauls fights in season 4 had very fluid animation especially him versus Midoria so I really don’t know what you were on about.

Bruh what?! I was also kinda bothered by the still frames at the end of that fight, but to know that they didn’t even have that in the manga but Bones actually gave us something, just makes me appreciate the stills they put in with the OST they used. Manga readers ESPECIALLY MHA’s are always so hyperbolic when it comes to the anime like not long ago a common critisims of this latest season was ‘’we’re in the middle of a war and the sky is too blue”… It’s sad to see mha manga readers ruining the anime for themselves and also going out of their way to ruining it for anime only’s as well😞

Heck in the manga there’s chapter 256 that’s literally titled “The high, deep blue sky” and chapter 284 titled “Deep blue battle” with Deku and shiggy in the air. Like did they not expect a blue sky during an arc that took place in the day? Heck even in real life war can take place during the day. This show fell off after the eri arc. The whole war arc came way too soon and the show is now breaking its own rules. Deku shouldn't have other quirks, it defeats the contrast of OFA and AFO. All the characters suddenly have no limits and just keep going to extreme hights. Like I understand toga was bioengineeref to be a monster but come on, being super strong even under Eraser head quirk makes no sense. The war arc is filled with plot holes that make it seems its more of a fanfic of the original show.

The "where the budget went" segment was filled with misinformation. (7:40) 1) The production committee already confirmed that the team and budget is totally separate for the movie. 2) even if the movies were taking the budget then why doesn't S6 look good? S6 has no movies with it. 3) in studio bones they have separate teams (A-D) team B works on mob psycho and team C works on mha. So, the budget and team for both anime are different. 4) the main issue with mha is the schedule they have and you failed to mention it even once. The animation this season has been pretty good, definitely not season 2-3 levels but it’s way better than what we got from my villain academia’s adaptation, this season has had some really strong sequences of good animation overall, But it’s not really the staffs fault that the scheduling has gotten so bad that animation ideas and project that could’ve been approved got shut down because there probably wasn’t even enough time finish them, it’s quite hard to animate two arcs in the production span of 1 year, arcs that have some of the more harder moments to animate, The anime hasn’t fallen off seriously, it’s still like on the top 10 most watched animes in Japan and In the west, IMO, this season is the best since season 3 and is honestly great considering the terrible scheduling that the animators are given, the story is still enjoyable tho so I don’t rlly get what u mean, this animes a running 8.5/10 for me.

As another youtuber pointed out and from my point of view, the main issue was both the bad direction of the anime from season 4 to nowadays and the greed of Studio Bones. The direction makes everything flow. Up to season 3 it was perfectly organized, but from the very beginning of season 4 it was just a mess. The Overhaul arc was right away rushed, then it went slow, all the way to the festival arc with Gentle. Many disliked it because they stayed so long in the most casual parts that by the time the fight started, most people didn't really care. Then, because of the movies, where most of the budget went, the most hyped arcs of My Hero had inconsistent animation and pacing because they wanted to spend the least amount of budget they could on it. MHA is their Goose That Laid Golden Eggs, so they went all in with movies that no one asked for to drag in more audience, but neglect the goose itself in the process. This was greed in its purest form. The reason they delayed the LOV's arc and made sure to reduce it as much as they could was that when that arc came out in the manga, it didn't sell well in Japan, and therefore they were afraid the audience would drop when it came out in the anime as well. Sure, the censorship was part of it as it removed part of the weight of many scenes (like Kirishima having his body covered in blood after his fight with Rappa, or Shigaraki killing his family), but unfortunately, as it is transmitted in TV for children to see it too they had to tone it down.

The main flaw I see in your analysis is you put MHA in the category of going wrong, irrelevant, poor animation quality, struggling. Mob Psycho is used as a contrast, with good animation and therefore an assumption that the show is doing well. Yet as far as I can see Mob is hardly talked about at all, or at least a fraction of even a struggling MHA let alone peak MHA. The MHA movies makes 10s of millions at the box office, a live action Netflix adaptation has been commissioned. The show still trends on twitter after episode air. If that's a struggling show then 99% of anime shows want to be a struggling show. Is there less hype now, sure I would say so, but that's mainly due to becoming an established property with set expectations verses being an underdog and something people view as underrated and want to promote. People tune into MHA expecting Nakamura to have animated every scene and are disappointed when a simple conversation scene between characters doesn't have sakuga. Its a dumb and irrational expectation. You can take bad instances of MHA animation and put them next to good animation from another series, but what about putting the good animation scene form MHA and putting them next to the good animations scenes of other seires. Another point, animation quality is actually not that important to the overall appeal of an animation. Otherwise older shows with objectively inferior animation quality wouldn't be as liked, but they are beloved still. Its story, plot, character, meaning, emotion, intellectual stimulation that keep people engaged in and interested in a series, all things you didnt mentioned once. People don't watch and love sports-romance anime because of the mind blowing animation it presents to them. You either havent thought about this topic yourself and are simply parroting opinions you have heard from others or you have become one of these people that has lost perspective and fixates on animation while disregarding the most important aspect of creative storytelling.

no season 6 just reinforces the issues in 4-5 which is the garbage writing and the fact that the author can't keep his story strait. Like originally MHA was supposed to be about the issues that come along with hero society and the need to take personal responsibility. Then the author decides to do a 180 on that and show us that we all need to obey authority and defer to those with authority during a crisis, and of course those with authority can do no wrong the hero's are all prefect people, and if they fail it's not their fault it's the peoples fault for not believing in them like WTF was this written for a 5 year old, dude forgot that he was trying to write about how these institutions get corrupted by fame and fortune.

@@colin8696908I’m pretty sure the only entire show is about how Heroes aren’t perfect and how Corrupt they actually are. Season 4 and 5 were about plot. They needed certain factors for future season/ manga. For example; The first half of season 4 was needed for the manga and All for One needing Rewind in some way; the second half was mainly filler, but Gentle Criminal and La-Brava are needed in the manga as well. Season 5 was everyone showing how they improved since the start since everything goes to hell after the first Hero Villain War. The second half of the season is about mastering Black Whip and emotions (since emotions are the thing that drove Deku to going emo.) Season 6 was all about what Shigaraki’s goal was at the end of season 6. To show how fragile society was without there Symbol of Peace (which he turned out to be correct because All for One is 10x stronger than any hero alive.)

I told you so. I was telling EVERYONE when this show came out they they only liked it for the superhero aspect and nothing more. Deku was a character who had potential if they had made him a Batman type character with no powers. But for whatever reason, set him up with no powers only to give him some anyway. Strike 1. He's reason for recieving said powers was also stupid. Considering Mirio was clearly the better candidate. But they had All Might give Deku the powers, because he had more passion even though Mirio fit the bill right from the get go. That's strike 2. And finally the villains are nothing more than villain of the weeks. I mean I know they’ve since made them more intimidating, but they should've been that way from the beginning. You don't set up your main villains of your story to be beaten by children in the first half of it. No, you build them up as an actual threat. Not make them punching bags for everyone and laugh at them as though they were a joke. That's strike number 3. I tried to tell everyone, I really did. But no one wanted to listen to me. I knew this anime would fall off sooner or later it was just a matter of time of how long it take for people to get their brain cells back.

I stopped reading at manga #9 myself. There was a multitude of reasons why the story just wasn't working for me. Part of that is due to very problematic characters from a narrative standpoint. The villains literally have not one but two characters who could instantly triumph over all protagonists with no difficulty whenever they want. One of the villains can simply take any quirk used against him for himself. The other villain can kill anyone but is himself completely invincible/unkillable. That means the story is only allowed to continue purely through plot device, which is irritating. But the real problem with the plotline, at least for me, was that it embraced the modern shonen trope of rejecting a series of smaller story arcs with a main villain capping off each one and instead introducing the main villain early on but having the villain continuously triumph/evade the protagonists for the duration of the story before finally having a resolution. As a general rule, I hate that...because it gives the idea of protagonist stagnation and futility. I put up with it in some series like "Demon Slayer" because the main antagonist there is never front-and-center or personally pitted against the protagonists. Plus the overall series is comparatively short. Other series, like "One Piece", are able to mitigate it by making the main antagonist not the central motivation of the protagonists but rather putting the full focus on the smaller arcs (at least...until after the mid-series timeskip in which it started suffering from the same problem...). That's not the case with this series. The main antagonists are constantly front and center just to show how ineffective the protagonists are and how little character agency they possess. I never got the sense that Midorya or any of his classmates actually ever grew as characters, because their opponents either continuously got the better of them or were unaffected by their actions. The villains are hung out like a carrot on a stick in front of the audience endlessly teasing a final confrontation that never comes. On the other hand, making the protagonists simple, obedient students who constantly have to play by the rules of equally-ineffective mentors just makes things worse. In situations like this, it's impossible for me to feel any sense of accomplishment by the triumphs of the protagonists because you know those triumphs are meaningless as they left no impact on the main antagonists. When that happens, all other encounters with all other opponents become "noise"...some stepping stone I wish they would hurry up and get over so we can get back to dealing with the real threats.

0:51 "four seasons later *and the series isn't talked about as much as it used to be*" This video is based on a flawed premise -- that a decline in discussion must have been caused by a *decline in quality*. Isn't it true for *any* long-running series, that the episode-count becomes a larger barrier to entry to casual fans? The fifth season of a show will naturally have a smaller viewing audience versus season 1, and that's not a judgment of a series' quality. We can't tie quality to viewership. Take **Andor** as an example of an incredible show which hasn't seen the same viewership as the other Star Wars series. Take **Better Call Saul** as a multiple-season long series which didn't have as much discussion among mainstream audiences in its latter seasons.

As a manga reader whose been hating on the past 2 seasons of the anime, I gotta say that season 6 so far is the best the show has been since season 3, maybe even season 2. Even with some off model frames with characters here and there, the animation and layouts have been consistently well done and interesting. The most important reason I'm loving this season is because of the pacing, it's actually well done and gives time to important manga moments without feeling too slow like the last 2 seasons have been. There are some things like lighting or the detail on Shigaraki that they can work on, but I'm the of the former, it's consistent with what the show has looked like most of the time, if not all. Complaining about the comparing out rendering not being Ufotable, TYBW or CSM levels is just getting upset over what we never had. The show looks consistently good this season and does everything it needs to bring this important arc to life extremely well. Comparing to Mob is also not really helpful, as MHA has been airing 2 cour seasons over the past 5 years annually while Mob has had only 3 seasons aired around 3-4 years apart. Mob is one of the Studio Bones passion projects, while MHA (particularly because of it's length and popularity as a long running Jump series) is produced in a different way. Even if I love the current season so far, I also hope that this second half is better.. because Lady Nangant is the best.

Your saying the downfall is because of bad animation and missing parts however the main problem is MHA wasn't interesting in the first place. The gaps in logic in the series takes away from suspense and really any emotion tbh. Shigaraki for example. He was able to track Midoriya down in a mall but yet he can't tell where Midoriya lives and can't get to his mother? Its almost as if the questions that should have been answered to make the characters actual people aren't even given thought into. Same with most recent arcs where Midoriya leaves U.A. it's as if him losing himself doesn't exist but he lost himself entirely. This problem was inside MHA from the very begining.

The Deku vs Shigi fight was the biggest letdown I've felt in years. I'd been so hyped to see it for so long. And despite the disaster of MVA's adaptation, the way they had embraced the gore gave me hope. Then the season opened strong with some well done Mirco scenes. I dared to hope. Season of build up. The protag and the antag finally going to fight for the first time. Multiple new quirks activating and being revealed. Limbs being lost. Lived ending on either side. All out desperation on both sides. This was going to be good... And then to see Deku's shockwave inducing barrage of punches feeling weaker than his single finger baseball toss from season one. I was expecting the broken heroes on the ground to barely be able to stand as the shockwaves ripped through the decimated city. I wanted to see the look of awe and fear and disbelief at the scale of the battle going on above their heads. I wanted the to see them struggeling to even think of how to aproach such a battle to help Deku. But no. We got a blue pastel sky giving everything a saturated happy hew. Slow music with no tension. Voice actors sounding mildly annoyed in place of screaming in desperation. And then it was over. At least the Nagant fight this week was well animated. Honestly surprised they didn't change it to sunny daytime and color it like a scene from the Teletubbies or something again.

the anime is falling off, because the manga fell off. I don't think alot of anime watchers cared that much about the animation, at the beginning the story was the number 1 reason why everyone watched, since anime is season based, it makes total sense that alot of anime watchers are about to read the manga when anime is on hold, and the manga just became terrible. So there is no reason to go and watch the next season in anime when you know the story sucks lol. Nobody important ever dies, people are brought back to life constantly, or are never dead to beginn with and it was just a fake death, (kind of like what fairy tail did) the manga also feels 1 Dimensional. For example when deku wanted to leave the school and be on his own like all might? How many chapters was that? 5? until he was back in school? So hori just failed in every aspect possible. Shigaraki even if he has "cool abilities" or looks "cool" is a 1dimensional villain, all he wants to do is to "destroy", there is no real goal besides "destroying the world" because i am still mad that i killed my parents at the age of 5 or w.e age he was. All for one was the mastermind behind all of it, yet you see what happened to him in the manga lmao. Also all for one's backstory had to be turned into doggy writting aswell because otherwise people might have gotten even more upset of how the story is playing out into favor of shigaraki, so all for one went from "i wanna rule the entire world" to "i hate everyone for no reason". Not to mention that this is prob the last fight anyways now, so shigaraki might lose soon aswell and the entire story is over. It's just so weird, in my opinion boku no hero became worse compared to other good mangas even old one's, and at the beginning boku no hero showed signs that it could be much better than ur "average good manga" story but ultimately turned out to be even worse, so everyone quit it because they are dissapointed lol. that said if we watch closely, the most famous mangas are mangas who actually have the balls to kill off "good" characters which makes total sense. If you never kill anyone important ever, you're story loses it's thrill. there is no reason to watch or stay excited if there is no risk of losing someone special.

You guy's should be more critical of the overall writing. MHA is basically a 101 on how to not write your story. There is to much for me to fit into a single comment but Eri for example is basically a writing black hole since her powers warp the entire show around her. Then you have season 6 were the author did a 180 on the theme of the show. Which originally was the need for people to take individual responsibility instead of deferring to authority. Essentially the same theme as "psycho pass" but now your not only supposed to defer to authority in a crisis but the show is critical of people even trying defend themselves. not to mention all the hero's are basically portrayed as prefect when originally the show was supposed to explore the commitment and moral weaknesses of many hero's who were in it for the fame and furtion.

Also if the reason the show looks bad is because they do movies then season 1 should have looked as good as them but that clearly aint the case.

In my opinion, the two arca being switched around wasn’t the worst this, i was so able to understand it completely even without reading most of that part in the manga. Not to mention they were still entertaining as hell. Also i do understand the not so good quality of season 4 and 5, some parts where a little embarrassing, but the movie’s animation? no. i mean for the most part, it was great. great movie, great visuals and great story line. (bakugo and todoroki’s fights at the end where 10/10) but MIDORIYA’S fight, i was in tears in the movie theater, it made no sense what was happening it was literally a 20 minute fight of the same thing over again and then he does some pokemon shit. it was crazy, and i’m honestly so disappointed in it.

I can agree that the animation in these important fights could’ve been better. But I think you are in the minority in this opinion here buddy the animation was good enough and also if you have a good enough story and continuity it can make up for the lower quality animation which in this case what it looks like the great majority here agree that it really wasn’t that bad. If it’s not your cup of tea it’s fine but My Hero’s biggest problem that people have with it is that the creator can’t stick with a narrative. Like we go from All For One vs. All Might to Gentle Villain and then after that a training arc? Like bro keep the momentum going at least make the story progress lol if he keeps up this consistency that he has rn and keeps the continuity flowing like he has been doing in these seasons the anime can rise up to popularity again because it is a good story

This is such a dumb video lol... I think the top comments explained it well... and it's funny that I saw a video minutes ago in my recommended talking about how the new season has drawn him in so much... but he still points out things he's personally not a fan of... and he's very respectful...

Im not a big fan of mha, but I'll like it if Deku (don't know his real name) remain powerless and grind hard to where were at in the manga

yeah even as someone who loves season 6 I must admit the first cour's animation and art wasn't all that impressive, though it's seems like the studio might be putting their best foot forward with the second cour based on the first 2 episodes, at least to me lol

Other than the Openings and Endings I haven't watched the anime since season 3. Horikoshi's art is pretty amazing, and that is how I decided I want to remember MHA. Other than the final fight between Shoto and Dabi taking WAY too long I've been consistently satisfied with MHA.

The biggest issue with the anime imo that you didn’t touch on is the director change. Ever since they changed directors between seasons 3 and 4 you could tell the adaptation has suffered. Funnily enough, I honestly think the animation is fine, after all aside from deku vs shigaraki we’ve gotten some of the best scenes of animation this season since season 3. And aside from Yutaka Nakamura being absent for the first cour due to mob psycho, the “dip” in animation shouldn’t be credited towards bones animating mob psycho at the same time, since they are handled by two different sub-studios and has had a longer production time than my hero.

@@raec5426 yeah I’m excited, the thing that most ppl don’t realize about Yutapon is that he has so much influence he can pick and choose what scenes he wants to do, hence iida vs mudman, animating a random anime only scene in s4, etc

Yeah, the animation has been good to serviceable this season to be honest. Plus this is personal taste but I always found the Deku vs Shigi stuff pretty mediocre in "action" but really enjoyed the writing around that part. If people wanted more creative freedom to be showcased and just off the wall hit moments I guess I can understand that a bit, however I think it would ruin the tone the original scene was going for. Honestly if we traded that moments animation quality for something like the later fight we get in the Villain Hurt arc I'd call it a fair trade as that fight has why more dynamic moments. I'll also say the I agree the direction was off in a lot of aspects of S4 and S5 I think it's stabilized in S6 so far. Between episode heads and the main director we've hit kind of a middle ground where some episodes are done better then others like the Dabi reveal be very well directed.

And its crazy how that shigaraki frame of him attacking aizawa is literally just the wrong frame if you pause it with your hand out it looks just like the manga they just be picking which frames to pick im assuming they wanted that to he a shot with shigarakis hand out just zooming in like some 12 yr old animation transition

A theory of mine why MHA is dropping of isn't even because MHA is bad. It's because super hero movies are themselves dropping off. Hence why chainsaw man, mob and other anime flourish coz now darker themes are viewed as interesting, different and new. Just a realization I had coz I'm a MHA fan and also a Marvel fan and I can see the similarities in drop of rate.
