Agreed! My hair looks rough by week 11. I usually stretch to 14. I have decided that i will be relaxing at 10 weeks. Ive been out here looking very uncute beginning at 11 weeks, but no more!!
I've only had 2 relaxers so far and at week 6 of the first one I damn near cried 😭. The breakage, the 2 textures and the African 4c edges 🙁. I was not ready. Only lasted 2 more weeks, we'll see how this one goes...8 weeks is the most probable.
Beautiful hair while stretched!!! I needed to hear this. I'm currently 8 month post relaxer with a protective style, I'm struggling in what to do lol. I definitely have to keep my hair in crochet at this point. I take it down and let it breathe for a week or two. I cleanse my scalp, steam, oil treatment, and protein treatment, or deep condition. Then, back to a protective style it goes. I usually get 2 perms a year but, "trying" to stretch to at least a year. Hell, it's already been this long, lol. We will see once i take it out, being my bday is next month. 😂
Your hair is gorgeous relaxer stretching is a personal choice. You should relax once you reach to that point where you are unable to manage your hair without breakage. I love seeing my natural hair and my curls are not too tight so I do not mind stretching to 3 or 4 months. But one routine does not fit all. Do what is best for your hair.
Girl, this video was for me!! I am 4 months post since my last relaxer and it's been hard! I made the decision 4 months ago to end my 7 yr natural hair journey. I am due for a relaxer so I defiantly will call my salon for a retouch and trimmed. Deep conditioning and tieing my hair down are helping me. Right now, my hair is in a low braided ponytail and I am going to keep it like that for the week and refresh it afterward! Let's just say, I'm relaxed but my hair looks like I am natural again.lol
I relaxed for the first time in over a decade on October 21st. I had to get creative in November with styling. I haven't flat ironed at all so I'm mostly finger detangling, moisturizing my scalp & hair, sealing with oils, and braids at night for waves the next day. Either use clips/barrettes or wear down and keep ends trimmed and moist! I have the silk-satin fabrics but what else should be in my routine?
Good morning you look lovely in the video as you always do... I just made a video on stretching relaxers it relaxes and it really depends on your leave the pins on your hair type just like you mention if you have 4c Here then it will be a little difficult to stretch a little further than 12 weeks.. Now on the other hand if your hair is let's say 3C Or even 4a It wouldn't be so difficult to stretch a little longer even well up to 16 weeks.. But it's very important to keep your hair type in mine in order for these stretches.. That's why a lot of people here break off or dry out really fast and they can't keep up with the 2 textures because of because of their hair type... I am 3C And I am able to stretch at 26 weeks and 4 days.. My hair is not shedding or breaking I'm aching I'm keeping hydration and moisture in my hair when a daily basis I get my relaxer Saturday 1 the 4th.. Thank you ever kindly for sharing this video God-bless you🙏🏽❤
My 4c hair is fine strands, water on its own makes my relaxed hair mushy and it tends to break when wetted. I have to saturate my hair fully to shampoo and almost use no tools under time to dry (Rev Air dryer). I'm newly relaxed as of late October and I stopped spritzing my hair with water immediately! I'm doing better now by finger detangling/styling plus using products with glycerin on my scalp & hair. But my salon stylist told me to wait 6 months for a retouch and there's no way I can do that, I already informed her. She did my virgin hair, whole head, but she has an issue with overlapping... I think I may need a sure-footed stylist who knows how to protect previously relaxed hair!!
