The Dragon Prince ALL Viren Scenes in Season 5 

Viren's dark magic dream was easily one of the best parts of S5.

That moment you realize that everything started when Viren used dark magic to save Soren. It all began out of genuine love for his son and wanting to help him live, which spiraled out of control and caused him to grow bitter and hateful that he forgot so much of the love he held for his children. And only now, from this fever dream that Callum went through, is Viren finally realizing how far he has fallen and how he is actually dragging his precious children into the same fate. I truly love the wise words of his younger self, which is what is left of his humanity: “No matter where you are on the path. No matter what you’ve done before. Every step forward is a choice.”

Viren.. He's been one of my favorite characters since season 1.. I really hope he's not dead

I can't believe the dragon Prince made me actually start that kind of almost like Viren. Sure the stuff he did in season 3 isn't very excusable but I feel like it can be partially explained by dark magic. We learn that he used to be a good dad and a pretty decent person before he started using dark magic, and after dying he kind of regained his empathy. I think his character arc is getting really interesting.

The Dragon Prince Puzzle House Spoilers Kpp'ar was working on ways to help humanity with science (ex. Engineering), not magic. In the Puzzle House tower, Kpp'ar made a Merry-Go-Round machine for Claudia and Soren to play in before Viren trapped him in a magical coin. Prior to being trapped, Kpp'ar also kidnapped and imprisoned the Stone Giant Kruha (they look like giant Earthblood-like giant trolls) who guarded a map to the realm of the unicorns. Only a person who is pure of heart can see and read the map. For the unpure, like Viren, they can only see a blank paper. In the story, Claudia frees Kruha and the giant asks Claudia, "Find me again someday Claudia. In a place less dark." Sometime later, Claudia manages to read the map to the realm of the unicorns. The story reveals Claudia used the map to reach the realm of the unicorns which is likely somewhere near Katolis. When she arrived, the unicorns likely welcomed Claudia and gave her one of their horns as a gift. Unicorns cannot be easily captured because they are very powerful in their use of Star Primal Magic. It is likely in The Dragon Prince Season 6, Terry will take Claudia to the Stone Giants for medical assistance after Rayla sliced off Claudia's leg in a duel. From there, Rayla reunites with Kruha but the giant will be saddened by how dark Claudia became.

Also, I think it was odd that I was right about Sparklepuff being Aaravos's kid but also Viren's 8:45 I guess this counts as a "break-up" (or they're "on a break") If Callum did the "Historia Viventum" spell there, I'm pretty sure the rest of the gang would be surprised at Viren turning a new leaf and his "break-up" with Aaravos and maybe Soren would be... curious about Sparklepuff, considering he's his half-brother

I must confess I was not expecting Viren to realize the error in his ways, at least not like he did in the last episode

I think I the only thing missing from the nightmare scenes this seasons was a flashback with his ex-wife Lissa. I’ve been waiting to see her since she was mentioned in the first novelization. I feel like that would’ve help to add to his redemption arc, as he can see how dark magic cost him the love of his life. Come TDP, at least give us a flashback or another graphic novel showing exactly what Viren did to save Soren. He’d better not be dead next season, because I feel like there is a lot more we need to see from him, especially in regards to Soren.

He may be redeemed to some degree, but Viren will never be forgiven by the others because of all the lives he took and ruined, both humans and elves alike. He'll never be forgiven by everyone, especially The Dragang, Zubeia, Sunfire Elves, among others. We also should never forget how Viren and his actions ruined and destroyed Rayla's life in so many ways: he coined and took her whole family away from her, led her, Runaan, and Ethari believing her parents were traitors/cowards, led her to being banished/ghosted from her home and had lost her other surrogate father, Ethari. I want to feel bad for Viren, but at the same time, I don't feel sympathy for him at all because of what he did to Rayla and her life was shattered because of him. He doesn't even accept responsibility for that. Which is why i believe the writers are not done with Viren yet. I think it would be really interesting to see Rayla and Viren interact again. This time, Rayla may not kill him, but she'd most definitely unleash her rage, anger, resentment, and disdain towards him, emotionally and verbally which I think Viren not only accepts, but wouldn't blame her for. I just think it would be incredibly interesting.

For some reason, i think this is what it feels like if Ozai had some form of redemption. I went from hating everything about Viren, but now... I sympathize with him.

Viren never gets enough screen time

Dark, the magic could be a great metaphor of greed, greed for power(money status) it could be like any addiction, nothing is ever enough. The person who becomes obsessed with it wants to get more and more. Nothing is ever enough.

Imagine if Viren helped and stopped Callum from trying to cast a dark magic spell, and told him this: Viren: No. Don't make the same mistake I did. Choose another path, and don't lose what I lost

I really liked seeing this visual destruction of Virens soul so to say, and this also applies to every great villain in any media, that they believe what they do is for the betterment of others, "That I would do anything to protect (insert family, people, etc) no matter how dangerous, no matter how vile." But in truth they just want power to control and dominate, much like Viren's master said, and in the end they either force the one they love like Soren and his wife to become scared and leave while others like Claudia follow in their path and become just as they are.

3:13 This might be my favorite Viren scene of the whole series because we've always seen Claudia be Viren's favorite child ("She is not an asset. She is my daughter." "I can enjoy 30 days of life with my daughter, who is the most special person I have ever known.") while Soren kind of gets left behind. Soren looked up to Viren and he's the one who chose when their mom left. Claudia just went along with it because their mom wanted them to stay together.

If done right Viren could have the greatest redemption since Zuko or The Hound.

A question. The wiki says Viren cast a spell on himself to hide his “grey” appearance as that’s now his true form. How come after he’s been dead for 2 years, he hasn’t cast any spells, but he’s no longer grey?

Hey @sorvus I noticed when someone casts dark magic eyes turn black but you can still see their pupils its just there eyes are coated black but not turned black. when we saw young Viren's speech to present Viren it made me shed a tear because everyone has the choice your not destined to do anything you don't want to do. Hey I noticed this you know how sparklepuff eats butterflies well it's a reference to what Viren did in seasons 1-3 he took the life energy of the butterfly so his face wouldn't look like it does when he casts dark magic and since sparklepuff is Viren and Aaravos's kid that his why it eats butterflies also when they made sparklepuff Viren and Aaravos had to use their blood so what was that thing Aaravos poked himself with that caused him to bleed because a simple needle wouldn't make a star touch elf bleed. I'm just saying if Viren doesn't die I hope he goes to the Dragang to tell them everything about Aaravos completing his redemption cycle then dieing knowing he did something good in his life and that he apologized to Soren and Claudia for not being the dad they deserved and I'm just asking but will we ever see Soren and Claudia's mom in the next season or season 7 because I want to know what she looks like. Finally I was humming the dark eyed sailor song and the lyrics stood out to me " woe to the man the dark-eyed sailor ship's adrift and the sea's his jailor drag him down, down, down, down Down in the wicked deaths below lost at see the sailor cried I will not die the sea shall bow to me the lyrics sound very familiar to one being Aaravos just think Aaravos is a man his eyes are dark and he is full of darkness and I know he doesn't have a ship but that could be a metaphor for himself being adrift from everyone and his prison is in the sea so the sea's his jailor make sense also the jailor made the prison Aaravos is trapped in and that part with drag him down down in the wicked depths below means everyone had to drag him down into the prison to the wicked depths below the sea and when we see the statues at the entrance to the sea of the cast out it shows the statue of Aaravos crying and it could mean that Aaravos was lost and cried till that other star touch elf came along and now Aaravos will not die and he will make everyone bow down to him what do you think of my theory.

I just thought of something should Azimadium the dragon king should have been in Verins dream caused it show a lot terrifying things that he went through.

It is just that l want to matter to other people too so l could know that l matter. That l'm important. That l have a value. That I am not nothing.

Viren was a horrible man on the first 3 seasons but once he had those dreams and realized what he was doing he finally surrendered

I hope his not dead yet. Like some plot to extend his life temporally or he somehow unlock a primal magic. Since he doesn't want to use dark magic again. I really wanted to see him reuniting with Soren again and helping the other team.

Does anyone else think that it would be interesting if someone questioned why viren would have such a problem sacrificing his child to stay alive when he tried to sacrifice Soren for his plans two years ago. Relatively speaking, sacrificing a barely sentient lifeform should be easier than turning his actual child into a mindless monster

I disagree what the creators say about Viren not deserving forgiveness. Everyone needs forgiveness and everyone deserves redemption because in the end, people whether vile or a decent person everyone need to change for the better. Jesus Christ forgave us when we sin against him, we must also forgive others.

What would have happened if Viren had done the ritual? Perhaps he could have made Claudia less desperate and turned himself in? Guess not since the Sunfire Elves would be after him.

Viren is such an interesting character, don't get me wrong I dislike him. He's done many bad things and he will never be redeemed. But this started because he was trying to help. first his son, then harrow, then katolis, and last humankind. He had good intentions but bad, very bad ways of making a solution.
