THERE'S NO WAY THIS SONG BELONGS TO ME! I'M JUST SHARING IT 'CAUSE IT'S COMPLETELY BADASS. ARTIST: The Dreadnoughts SONG: Black sea gale ALBUM: Polka's Not Dead
It pains me whenever I see unrecognized artists like these with such good music. Where are the sponsors, the crowds of followers, the fame and recognition for talented people such as these?
Canada a Country of welcoming all...reflected in our music...imagine a Canadian punk band belting out classic polka, sea shanties and Great War songs!...love this Country!!
Actual lyrics: Seven score and seven more Were bound for Batumi And hardly got away before A tempest shook the sea Posiedon sends Mighty hordes Lash the sails Strain the cords Sing it all away The black sea gale-oh To the yoeman straight away He answered with a grin I know not where we're going to But I sure know where we've been The wind comes on Shakes the sky We press on Faces high Sing it all away The Black Sea Gale-oh Odessa, we sing so loud (Odessa) We sing so proud (Odessa) Amidst the howling wail Odessa, your sons are lost Their weary bodies tossed And pitched up to the rail Black Sea Gale You can take Odessa men And shake them to the bone But songs they learned at mummies knee Will always bring 'em home The linden trees Strain and bend Storm is gone Rise again Sing it all away The black sea gale-oh Odessa, we sing so loud (Odessa) We sing so proud (Odessa) Amidst the howling wail Odessa, your sons are lost Their weary hands across the deck side faces pale Black Sea Gale (solo) Odessa, we sing so loud (Odessa) We sing so proud (Odessa) Amidst the howling wail Odessa, your sons are lost Their weary bodies tossed And pitched up to the rail Black Sea Gale Sea Gale

They're touring Europe this summer (august 2017) everyone, set up a savings jar called "€ for awesome concert", check out flight skedules, plan your vacation accordingly and let's all give this badass band a proper welcome, shall we?
Philip Waress but they have more Eastern European folk here than west , I hate Western European music , love the bohemian feel also it feels more of 18th and 19th century
loud and proud from brazil+1 é amigo, eu tbm to dando uma passada pelas musicas de loucos! HUAUHAUH esses dias pra cá descobri SKA, esses caras, e Celtic Irish Rock... mtooo foda.
Hey, non-native english speaker here. Does anybody know, what they sing in the second chorus after "your sons are lost"? I can hear it's different but can't work out exact words and all lyrics I found online have only one version of the chorus in them
Not really, the mando solo has a more Appalachian feel rather than Irish (and Appalachian is quite different to any of the Irish forms), there's also something of a Scandinavian bent to the treatment of tonality. And the lyric's all about south-east Europe.
Ehh these guys are different than the Western European folk This is more east, Czech Republic , Slavic , a little Mediterranean , French I used to like flogging molly and then I heard The dreadnoughts , then I got a bad taste for the the Irish folk
So, did no one at any point of the production process think "man, chanting _Sea Gale_ with an unnatural emphasis on Gale makes it sound like we're saying Sieg Heil"???
