I lined my garage with yellow tongue floor panels. They're 18mm thick so I can hang all sorts of shelves, hooks etc. It also works as an insulator being so dense.

if you still want light you can add 10mm acrylic or Perspex on the windows as a home made double glazing, works very well for sound.

Love it, put a proper solid timber door in. That will insulate better over the tin door, seal better and be more solid and harder to break in!

For the windows, it's a little pricier and know you want to do this on a budget, but tint is a great idea but also double glazing too. If something flys off when grinding etc, it's a bit more durable and more difficult to break in with too. Plus will give you all that natural light to make it feel more open when you're stuck in there. Great job overall for the first time doing it. Beats what we had at one stage, sand in old tinnies

That’ll make a world of difference! I did it under the roof of my house (postwar). 35 degrees outside, and didn’t even feel the need to put on the aircon. Also put it under the patio roof and tested it last year, something like a 30deg difference between bare roof sheet and the underside of the foil. Much nicer to sit under.

@seetomgo
@seetomgo 8 месяцев назад
To elaborate on what @MicahBell_1860 said, the air is what prevents the heat from conducting and provides the insulation in the first place (so don't mash it). The foil on the insulation is a radiant barrier that helps to block infrared heat, but it is also a vapor barrier, and is generally meant to face the living space of the structure. The way you are installing it could potentially trap moisture between the cement board and the alu walls of your shed. Not trying to be a dick, love your channel!
@patb4493
@patb4493 8 месяцев назад
@@seetomgo he did the foil the way he did for the reason you mentioned...if its reversed how your saying to do it, the fiberglass/earthwool will absorb the moisture and cause an unwanted musky odour.

Just warning you mate that you will have water pissin in, by the way you cut the wool after screwing the sheets back down and left some hanging out from under the sheet and in the gutter. It acts as a sponge and absorbs the water and bring it inside. It’s the main cause of leaks on metal roofs I attend, and when wool is in the lap of the sheets when being laid

Too late now unfortunately, you don't need to remove roof sheets. What does the work is the air gap between roof sheet and insulation sheet. Fixing a different product of foam and foil to the underside of the battens is the key. Roofers do this directly under the roof sheet as it's easy but not as effective
