The replay system that's already built into the game allows the recreation of a specific situation that happened in a match. It may not be worth the effort from the developers, but it's certainly possible to modify that system so that a tournament console would allow the TO to revert to a previous point in the match. I could see them making that change now that the replay system is so great.
Best I could think of is for Bandai to create an offline only mode called "Tournament match", where you could choose whether best of 3 or best of 5 and it will automatically have all of those settings built in. No accidental pause button presses, possible game replay, etc.
Not worth it for something that shouldn't happen in the first place. If the game crashes which is more likely to happen, you probably won't even be able to restore the replay. They should just make a tournament mode where you can't stop the match no matter what. No pausing. No going back to the Playstation browser. No alerts. No interface interruptions. It's common sense. Even if one of their own controllers stops working, the match should continue. Most likely the controller reconnects within a few seconds and you might not even lose the round. This is much better than automatically losing the round. With a system like that, the match wouldn't have been interrupted.
GGs JDCR. Keep going to tournaments. You'll get your day soon! Edit: Also, I think he explained it best that it is not the job of players to figure out the rules. It is the TO's job. The players just simply need to focus on their game and not be bothered by any of that stuff.
The rule needs to change. Restarting the entire match just because of an interruption would be like if in baseball your team already scored 3 runs in an inning and then a fan reaches into the field to catch a fly ball that's in play so then they reset the score and start the entire inning over again.
except this analogy is bad. You don't restart the inning, you just restart the state of the bases and the batter. We can make this as an analogy for round of the match. Which means the out counter should stay the same Now, for batter, his HP would be the number of strikes/balls, we reset that. And that should be how the analogy would work for baseball.
@@hiroyoshiarai8776 But you wouldn't reset the strikes and balls, and the out counter doesn't always stay the same! The fan interference rule for MLB states that the umpire makes a judgement call as to how the play would've gone without interference and they go with that. Restarting the round is like starting the inning all over again. If they restarted the state of the bases and the batter, then that's like if they would've tried to approximate the state of JDCR and AK's health bars and stage positioning before the interference occurred. Like how in MMA matches held in rings instead of cages, when the fighters end up under the ropes while grappling, they move them to the center of the ring but keep the same position. Instead, they had to start an entire new round which is nonsense. Having a man on 2nd and 3rd with no outs would be like having a huge life lead in a round. Well, JDCR had a huge life lead, interference occurred, and then was forced to start the round over again. How is that like anything but starting the inning over again?
Kudos JDCR for being transparent and professional. There will be JD fangirls, dont give up hope man. Also Jeondding and Bokuto Hwoarang are such bros. 😂
This could be solved so easily if they implemented an offline match rollback feature. Make it like a replay, where you can restart the match during any point of the recording. This wouldn't be too hard to do, and we could get rid of all these stupid rules.
its most likely too much effort for something that rarely if ever happens. they wont do it. Had the controversy been more viral or the esport scene more popular they would probably have adressed it.
Remember last year's EVO when Khan was fighting Nobi, having a lead, then random controller got connected, both players agree to continue the match. Then EVO staffs said that match is not legal anymore and need a rematch. Khan's performance really shows how low his mental was. That shit was rough
Playing in tournament is already mentally taxing but having this kind of interruption will interrupt their mindset. Its sad that a big tournament still lacking in organising even though the tournament already exist since long ago
@@okamisamakun if u being real there is no way an international tournament organiser wont be as unprofessional as this. Like how jdcr said in his previous match they checked on the connection for both two players but not when it was a match against AK. This small mistake may seem fine for spectator but not the players. I mean its just checking it wont even take 5 min to disconnect all controller you know
im a filipino but i was more on rooting JDCR that time. and i was so dissapointed of that botch that costs JDCR his tournament journey. and respect for AK that he wasnt happy of his win because he wanted to win fair and square on JDCR.
The reason the Filipino people can't live well is because they don't know honesty and lie as if they were breathing. The moment the game was stopped, the Filipino player was smiling. Such is the nature of the Filipino people.
they need to revise the TWT official rule. Bluetooth off on ALL consoles, only plugged in controller allowed, regardless it's a hitbox, mixbox, stick, or pad, that way you have no accidental activation by previously used pad. No idea why they still allow bluetooth connections....ALL controllers should be played plugged-in, IMO. I hate to see what happened to JDCR, and it has happened many times before, this isn't some isolated incident, just surprised the rule hasn't changed
Im from PH.. for me you got robbed there.. clearly thats your round already.. unlucky that people from the event didnt do their job properly.. hoping you will have a good run next tournament
What happened was very unfortunate, but I don't agree with the notion that anyone got "robbed". AK is pretty much a competent player, he *COULD* come back from such amount of health. However, he *COULD* also not. An automatic ruling that AK would win / lose would indeed mean that someone would be robbed. It's not fault of AK or JDCR that such thing happened, but with the production and the player who connected. I'm sure if the situation was reversed, and that AK would be awarded the automatic win, they'd say the same thing, that JDCR could comeback etc. etc. Just makes 0 sense why anyone would blame AK.
I know enough about match betting to know that it's just a setup for AK to get a second chance to win. TO or event organizers aren't stupid, they know what they're doing. And EVO is still pretty small in terms of participants compared to other bigger esports where accidents rarely happen.
the rules should restart the round, not the match. in fact, the rules should let the winning side choose if they want to continue if the winning side is winning by a certain margin.
