That was the first LP I found in my father´s collection in the age of 6 in 1985. Over 20 concert visits followed and trips to Ireland as well.

damien dempsey, the chieftens - they dont sing much just playing music, celtic woman - sings songs in gaeilge and in gaelic , the furey brothers, the clancy brothers, the high kings , christy moore, if your lookin for IRA music Charlie and the bhoys and the irish brigade also the wolfe tones but im sure you already know em well

Whisky in the Jar...love it! Sadly it would be seen as sexist today (he after all sings about women being totally untrustworthy!) :( Not that I dislike the other songs :) - Dubliners are favourites of mine ;)

As a 70year old woman I take absolutely no offence at this type of song. Gives me great memories of my teenage years and everyone singing in the pub in the lakes. People are losing their sense of humor I'm afraid

@@christinahaslam7076 how I agree with you! We have all got far too politically correct and people don't appreciate that times have changed. But these songs were and still are brilliant. We should appreciate the songs for what they were and just love them for that.

If you look at this song sung by an individual it's the experiences of one jaded gentleman mistreated by a woman, no one is actually suggesting all women are untrustworthy silly old sods 🤣

plankgate There was piano on several of the recordings they made with Phil Coulter in the 70's. "Joe Hill" .."Scorn not his simplicity" for example.

@@plankgate I dunno mate... you try hauling a friggin' PIANO any given stretch, you'll soon find they're HEAVY. In studio, or maybe on some concerts if there was one available, there WAS one. Touring Boys need naught but their Beards and a Barley!
