Today, I wanted to raise the American Spirit on this day by taking on two crappy G.I Joe characters, both part of Cobra, with two patriotic characters, one from Marvel, one from Capcom, since the MVC collection comes out this year, and with all that said, let’s see what we’re dealing with.
Match 1
Me: Captain America (MystikBlaze, MVC Mode)
Opponent: Cobra Commander (Scar, AI Patched by Hyde233)
Stage: Captain America’s Stage (Yusuke)
Music: Captain America’s Theme (Marvel Super Heroes, Came with the Stage)
Starting off, I play as Captain America by MystikBlaze, in MVC Mode, which gives him some of his other specials besides Final Justice, he’s got good range with the swings of his mighty shield, but his aerial combo game could use some work, his opponent is Cobra Commander by Scar with Hyde233’s AI Patch, he’s an sprite edit of Heidern who’s quite defensive as he’ll occasionally attack you with melee attacks and slashes. I had to attack out of the gate to get a good start on him before he started to defend in one place.
Match 2
Me: Guile (Kamekaze, MVC2 Mode)
Opponent: Storm Shadow (Skiff)
Stage: Military Train (TESTP)
Music: Plight (Street Fighter Alpha 3, Came with the Stage)
Next up, I play as Guile by Kamekaze, in MVC2 mode, he’s a simple character to pick up and play as, but difficult to master, he’s got good range with his sonic booms, and a good aerial game with combos and flash kicks. I fight Storm Shadow, he’s edited off of Kong’s Hiryu, and while he plays somewhat differently from that, he’s still a pain to fight, his moves do little damage, except for one, his shuriken spam is cheap, and if he manages to space with it and you can’t get out, say goodbye to your health. The strategy here was to keep my distance and try to catch him before he could shuriken spam me to death.
Match 3
The 2v2
Stage: Hydra Base on Alert (The Unlimited Team)
Music: House Hornet (Mega Man X3 OC Remix, Came with the Stage)
This was the easiest part of the whole thing, as Captain America and Guile’s chemistry was on point, it made Cobra Commander’s defense and Storm Shadow’s Shuriken Spam look like nothing. Not much to say here.
