1:57 The reason why you need money is because people usually leave carts at different places, which is why if you leave your cart somewhere else, other than the place your suppose to place, you don’t get your money back. Which is why you see a lot of abandoned carts at Costco

The cart thing is : people some times leave their carts all over the place, so make them pay a quarter and then if they want it back, they need to give their cart back.

1:58 Here in Australia, carts (called trolleys here) are free. You just take one and walk into the shop and then put it back when you’re done and someone every once in a while will just get them from the underground parking and places like that and put it back in front of the shop.

The reason for the money cart is so people don’t leave the carts everywhere. You have to put a quarter to unlock the cart, then to get the quarter back (because people want every bit of money possible) they have to lock it up and the quarter comes out. I found so many quarters at Aldi’s :)

The point of the coin in the trolley is so that people return the trolley in the correct place instead of leaving it in a weird place. They make you put a coin bc no one likes to lose money.

I tried doing the garlic grating thing, but with a plastic bag thing. It didn't work. The bag tore, my hands ended up bleeding one day before my finals. It was terrible. Hurt like hell, plus we ran out of band-aids, and we couldn't get more immediately, so I had to write my first two exams in pain.

Luke I can answer your question! They make you put money in the trolleys/shopping carts so that you will RETURN the trolley/cart back to get your money. Otherwise people just leave trolleys/carts in the parking lot or on the side of the road and the shop will run out of carts
