As a person who doesn't know anything about guitars - why have physical pedals in 21st century? Just one foot operated controller + a gazillion of digital effects surely would do the trick? Or am I wrong?

Basically every half-decent guitarist that has lived in the past 40 years knows Crazy Train. It's up there with Day Tripper and Smoke on the Water for 'most universally known guitar riffs of all time"
@@Sandpiper439 for pure distortion without breaking the bank, and if all you have is a clean channel, would be the boss ds-2. I sold mine because I just use my amps natural distortion with a boost, but the guy I sold it to only uses a clean channel and the ds-2 just sounds epic through it.

Honestly, you don’t need that many pedals in your rig. Really you only need a compressor, chorus, flanger, Overdrive(preferably tube screamer) and distortion. If you’re a metal guitarist like me a whammy pedal is a must on your rig to pitch shift and get extra heavy and dirty…. Which will probably be a couple hundred to 1 grand. Look into the world of aftermarket pickups and you’ll be 10x as mindfucked to see how much a piece of plastic and electromagnets wrapped in coil sells for.
You don't even need an set of actual pedals. A single $100 Zoom processor would do just fine for beginners and intermediates. Having a whole bunch of pedals is just bragging rights for guitarists, and makes for slightly more entertaining content for RU-vid
I have been playing off a combo amp y itself for over a decade. Trusty vypyr 30w that being said, there aren't many songs I play that switch between clean and distortion, and if there are I just play the clean parts in distortion anyways LOL

The Kermit pedal is an absolutely nuts auto wah pedal, I think it absolutely goes well with a clavinet The cat pedal just sounds like an audio engineer editing a master tape with all the swooshes and weird noises 💀
@@prod6thl I think politics should always be seperate from music. even if someone is conservative or liberal, If they make good music, they are good musicians. People can be horrible and still be great musicians. Unfortunately some people have to put their biases on everything.
