He truly was. No offense to Gene Autry's fans, but always much preferred Smiley doing the songs. There was no one like him and he was a sidekick to many of the great cowboys.
George Chesebro does a good job as the town drunk aka Dusty Morgan. This was one of the not to often times he wasn't a tough villain. I think he is underrated as an actor.
