Being British I do not know much of other royal families so thank you for this story, although containing a tragedy. Mabel's dress was absolutely beautiful, the bows and trellis design perfect for taking away the flat look of so many wedding dresses and yet remaining elegant.

What a tragedy that Prince Friso passed.😢

The dress was unusual but not awful. The train with its bows graduated to gigantic, however, was simply appalling!

She obviously liked her dress and that’s all that matters. Personally I wouldn’t have had the large bows on the train but that’s just my opinion - others may find it attractive. I didn’t like Diana’s dress but again, it’s what she wanted and it was her prerogative to wear what she liked.

Tragically he had a skiing accident and he passed in 2013

In my opinion, the bows got too big and were distracting. They seemed so happy, so in love. He gave up his line of succession for her and died 18 months after a skiing accident. How terrible and sad. The Netherlands is dear to my heart as my mom was from Holland.

Prince Friso got caught in an avalanche . leaving his wife with two small daughters. He died in the Royal Hospital for Incurables in Putney/Wandsworth , London , and Queen Beatrix used to visit her son regularly thee . The hospital staff did their best, but Prince Friso never recovered conscious ness properly-- a bit like Michael Schumacher

I think she looked Lovely. If it was me wearing it I wouldn’t have so many bows on the train. As I said She looked Lovely. Such a sad ending.

I liked the dress except for the very end of her trail. Bows to big should have been left off. The material of the gown was absolutelt gorgeous.

I don’t know about the bows, but the trellis look was pretty, IMO. Sad ending to the marriage.

The dress would have have been beautiful without the train.

It was her choice and it certainly is a huge improvement on the dress Diana chose, a crumpled mass that overwhelmed her and looked like something a young girl would design, it was frumpy and over the top and the only outfit she ever looked bad in.

It’s hard to say how much control the bride has over her dress. I don’t believe Princess Di had much input on her dress, she wore it because it was expected.

I didn't like the large bows! I didn't know Mabel's story, very sad to loose Frisco but I'm glad she and her daughters are still a part of the Dutch Royal Family.

Bravo to him for essentially flipping off his Royal family and marrying this seemingly lovely young woman. Besides, all this royalty talk is just stuff and nonsense these days anyway. And this bride’s dress was sweet, imo. Sadly, one Princess who could have looked fabulous in a beautiful wedding gown would have been Princess Diana. The person who created that mess of a dress should have had their thumbs lopped off!
