How do you get your rabbit to submit to being handled like that? I'd have scratches all over my hands, forearms, neck & face if I tried that with my Chinchilla Rabbit.
Rabbits that have been handled a lot from the time they are little kits are much easier to show as adults. It's tough to train an older rabbit to allow you to handle it but it can be done with a lot of time and patience- and wear protective clothes like a good jacket. I've had mixed success, some rabbits just really don't want to be handled.
my dutch rabbit passed away during an abscess surgery last year at age 10. he was the most friendly and loving rabbit I have ever met. he gave kisses to everyone he met and was such a momma's boy. 😭❤️ I have an 8 year old Netherland dwarf and 1 year old lionhead now and they are my babies, but they don't give me half the love my dutch boy did. I'm looking to add another Dutchie to the family
I her had Dutches for 11 years - ya I have a boy now, aged a year, who is so friendly, alert, and intelligent - and of course beautiful - one his black ears is dipped in white
I had one just like this one when i was 16, and he lived till I went away to uni for a few years. He was so cute, and he responded to his name, he didn't mind being picked up, I used to pick him up a lot, and he used to come and rest next to me or sunbathe in the garden. He also used to groom me by chewing my hair and facial hair if i forgot to shave..
Awww that's cute. And my friend had the Dutch she said the same. I have a bunny a Netherland lionhead though that's free roam he sleeps in my bed cos he's litter trained he is so attached to me I can see exactly where you are coming from here. They are so sweet. Mine has seizures so had to get used to being lifted to be medicated but he's fine now. He got lots of help with his seizures here on RU-vid.
Hello! I show rabbits and that is the safest way for the judge to quickly turn them onto there backs to make sure they are healthy! And also it looks a bit harsh but i have lots of experience with showing rabbits and this does not hurt them at all!
I'm watching this because I'm doing research on this breed while crocheting a stuffed one for an easter decoration! Definitely learned a lot, and mine doesn't have such precise marketing lol
I had one exactly as shown gifted to me from my aunt when I was a baby. Than they discovered I was highly allergic to rabbits and still am to this day. My throat begins to swell up and I end up having breathing difficulties. 😞 So we gave him for adoption at the kids zoo, and I still don't know what is more horrible... parting with a dead pet or having to part with it when it is alive. 😥 I wish I could get rid of this allergic response. I'd love to take care of one again if I could.
My Dutch baby passed away yesterday morning, he was about 11 years old. My first fur baby as an adult. He’s the love of my life…miss him soo much. How can I stop the pain??
This is not hurting them. this is the safest way that the judges can flip them over to make sure they are healthy. And the rabbit owners love there rabbits! i own 7 rabbits and they have big cages and get to play for 4 hours in a play pen outside per day. Now on the other hand some breeders can be abusive but with rabbit breeders who show rabbits that rarely happens. They are committed to bringing there rabbits to shows.
Fact: if the rabbits don’t have the exact marks that they want to show to audience they will be killed. Hate to break it to you. I have a Dutch bunny who I adopted from a woman who had taken him in as he didn’t have the correct markings so he would of been killed. Luckily now he is safe and in a loving home with me and my family. Rabbit shows I think In my opinion are just cruel animals should not be used for audience sake. If u saw in the background the cages they were kept in it is very sad how they are treated. ADOPT DONT SHOP x
The Rabbit Show sorry if this comment came across rude I just told what I had heard from my rabbits past experience I’m sure u take great care of your rabbits I just went straight to judgment
