I love how Sun and Moon is just like "Oh, ya, you can basically do the whole Start Chart and into SP with a FREE STARTER WEAPON", even the Hek requires you to at least get to MR4 before it starts carrying you through the star chart.
What mastery do you need for the Kuva Hek? I know the Kuva weapons used to have a weird unenforced MR requirement and you could be quickly carried through a Lich Hunt, even in pubs.
@@Wooskii1 Theoretically you can get Kuva weapons as early as MR5, only needing completion of The War Within at that rank and a Railjack which only requires MR3 to do.
@@Wooskii1 You need like MR 5~8 for the Kuva Hek, as there are prerequisites you need to pass to get to the Kuva Lich to spawn. You also need to finish like 2 thirds of the star chart.
@@Wooskii1 As long as you complete the War Within and have a Railjack you can get Kuva weapons so MR5. Although they technically require no mastery rank as when you kill the lich you are given the completed weapon in your foundry to claim, bypassing the MR requirement of the weapon.
For the Syam you mention at 5:23 that the floor not being smooth is the issue, however it is actually the low ceiling that causes the problem. The Syam is even specifically good on uneven terrain compared to weapons with punchthrough as the wave 'climbs' over terrain and will even hit enemies behind cover and walls very consistently. However when used in areas with a low ceiling this 'climbing' causes the wave to climb onto the ceiling and miss everything.
Thanks for the insight. I will be honest I did not extensively test that particular issue after encountering it. Mostly as there were more pressing things to test.
My single least favorite thing about the Syam is that the heavy attack no longer forces slash. Even if only the "melee" swing of the heavy would slash and not the thrown beam, I feel that would instantly make the weapon way more competitive for my playstyle. With my nikana zaw I can heavy attack most enemies ONCE (even most eximus) and simply walk knowing they're already dead. A single heavy attack slash proc is plenty for the entire star chart and the majority of the Steel Path as well, though tougher eximus and bosses do need a lot more focus. The syam heavy feels like it's barely tickling the enemies in comparison and the entire time I was leveling the weapon I found myself actively trying to trigger the sliding-heavy which is unchanged and still forces slash.
If you build the syam for purely heavy attack and use two crit damage (the gladdiator one) mods to get 5x crit damage you can easily oneshot most steel path enemies
THE TENNO SPACE PROGRAM!!!! I've a buddy who had a kitgun, can't remember which if it was rattleguts or something else, but it had some crazy high impact stats, and "yeetotron 9000" was a good name for it. he and I had TONS of fun just....REMOVING grineer from the region. one of my favorite game mechanics is...playing "rocketman" with low level enemies and ragdolling them to the next planet over. and yes, we DID call it "tenno space program" also
Tenno space program relevant, in Steel Path Curcuit,I got there Buzlok once and decided to use it as a status spreader after locking bullets onto the head, and not only did it work TO LEVEL CAP WITH DEFAULT MODS, if anything got ragdolled, the replay would just keep juggling the enemy as it lifts it up into the sky
@@TizonaAmanthia definitely not good outside of The Spiral, or if you're bad with landing a headshot with the scope, but if you get the decrees that spread status and the ones that inflict status on head shots, aaaaall you need is the one decree that adds damage depending on the amount of enemies with statues within 20m, and the rate of fire with Replay headshots will make your meme build godly
Truly, tbh if it weren't for the stance the azothane has pretty much the best stats in the game... new favorite melee 100%... the tenno space program and vastilok for the utility gives it a run for its money
I would love the Azothane so much if the stance didn't come with this pause in the beginning that makes light attacks feel super sluggish. Two handed Nikana weapons are generally incredible, Pennant is a favourite of mine, and I dream of a better stance for them.
Hey Kengi, you seemed to have missed a thing about Syam. Syam has a passive deflect effect when held (soft mode) against most projectiles in the game, and the deflected projectiles cause a impact like proc on the enemies which staggers them for 1-2 seconds. (It can deflect more absurd things like napalm & missiles and Nox Goo, though you will still take the explosion dmg)
In Duviri, the Sampotes is basically easy mode for drifter. You can spam heavy attack and keep enemies off balance, ecpecially the Thrax. This is especially the case once you get the increased health per decree and heal over time from the endurance Intrinsics
I feel like the Edun is the one that makes everything easy mode, sure it doesn't keep enemies off balance, but the heavy attack is so fast that you can even just spam heavy attack with that weapon and it will attack faster than other weapons, also has a really good range.
It's actually better than Guandao Prime, since it has only 20 less base damage, but higher stats. It's a shame that Edun's heavy attack is complete ass tho...
I just started playing 2 weeks ago, and my friend recommended getting the azothane and it has absolutely carried my ass through the star chart so far. I love the play style, it’s been so fun and everyone I’ve met has been very helpful 😊
Quick note about the Edun is that it's got a unique, duviri-exclusive heavy attack that is basically a wide spin. It's really good as it has basically no wind-up animation to the point where in my opinion, it's both better than the awkward curving throw heavy that the weapon gets on the Star Chart as well as being more usable than the default polearm heavy attack.
It's also just better to use its heavy attack over the light attacks for Edun especially once you get the decree that gives attack speed on power strikes.
another thing to note is that the Sampotes' heavy attack has a unique animation that sends enemies in front of you flying not exactly the best move ofc, but it's stull pretty good
The throw attack is so bad it's better to just use heavy slam attack even better with tennokai reach for 3m range and primed reach makes.... a 9 meter slam.
Fun point for Drifters in Duviri; the Edun's basic combo can headshot, triggering multiple Decrees that would normally be reserved for guns, such as the one that boosts damage for 3 seconds on headshot, or Bombastine's Malice when you get unlucky and haven't rolled the Venomous Touch Decree.
Wasn't planning to get any of the duviri melees, then the circuit gave me a syam riven and now it's my new favorite melee. Crit chance and viral, spicyy
Syam is a very good weapon early on. While you might not have a complete combo or heavy based build, the blade beam with slice straight through columns of enemies in lower levels. I've been using it on a f2p playthrough and it's simply much better than using a different melee or a firearm.
fun fact it was only recently (about a year or so ago) that they made the nikana prime mr12, it used to be the only prime to not have a mr requirement, I know this cause I used to farm sets and give them to new players
Completely unrelated, but I was on a reddit post about a potential wizard warframe and recreated the avatar intro with you as the focus haha: *Ice, Toxin, Heat, Electricity.* Long ago, the four fandoms lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Ember Simps attacked. Only Lavos, master of all four elements could stop them, but when the world needed him most he vanished. A hundred years passed and my Excalibur friend and I discovered the new Lavos, a youtuber named TheKengineer. And although his presentation skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to indoctrinate anyone. But I believe TheKengineer can save the viewing community of this game.
Great video and viewpoint, I saw these weapons and brushed them off because I have their stronger counterparts. I never took into account the mastery rank 0 and how beneficial these are to newer players. Thanks for all the info!
Nikanas and Polearms are my favorite weapon types, and as far as they go, the Syam is my top favorite Nikana and the Edun is 2nd beaten only by Guandao Prime. As for the heavier weapons, the Tatsu remains my favorite cuz of the slide attack and the Sibear cuz of it's incarnon gen
I unlocked the spear. It’s all I need from the drifter. Will unlock the rest once I finish adding incarnon mods to my weapons. Also nice that I seem to be the only person using it.
what you might not have covered @TheKengineer is that the Sun & Moon has the dual vertical chop at the end of one of its combos, meaning you can headshot mobs.
The Syam (Drifter) power attack will also sometimes keep enemies open to a ground finisher even after they get up. This may be a bug. Also, the Syam (Warframe) can still execute a normal heavy attack if you slide into it. I built it for raw heat and heavy bonuses and it can destroy acolytes with a high dmg heat proc plus slash proc. Extremely flavorful weapon and my go-to for both Duviri and the star chart.
Remember that there is a decree which boosts your damage to enemies affected by cold status effect, the azothane obliterates enemies if you get said decree
There's also literally a decree that affects every single nearby enemy with cold automatically, as an aura.... I haven't even considered needing a different drifter weapon when my Sirocco literally one shots everything, utterly decimates in Duviri... at about decree number 5-10... Depends of course what you roll, but its incredibly hard to NOT steamroll with all them decrees.
the syam is a rather niche weapon but a heavy attack built on mirage is really strong due to the high range andd the multiple blades that go through the enemies
Still crazy to me that a lot of the community disregarded these weapons intially, ignoring the fact that being 2nd best in class with no MR requirment is kind of insane. Cinta at least tries to be fair by having a non-zero MR requirment.
many people have the other stronger options is likely the reason, or newer players wouldn't immediately recognize their strength as they won't be able to craft them for a bit and the early star chart is easy with anything
I can agree with having the stronger options (even though people would absolutly scream power creep if they were better). As for crafting, these blueprints only require Duviri resources, which is much easier then most other open world which need extra blueprints for resources or bait for fish parts, or normal weapons that might require planet specific resources. Should be easier as long as you stick with Duviri a bit longer than the quest.
Funniest thing is that the Cinta is easily the worst Duviri weapon, it’s just a Nataruk but worse. Not to mention that it’s alt-fire is extraordinarily underwhelming.
It's 50 pathos clamp each and we hit alot of great incarnons we want to see and melee in general Is nothing to write home about, these are cool with their gimmicks though.
what i found most interesting about the Azothane- the only weapon i bothered picking up so far because clamps are used for incarnons and stuff from Acrithis, and i don't want to burn myself out- is that it's special slam will proc the Tek mod set, pulling enemies closer when used inside the kavat circle, yet doesn't proc Hydroid's passive, like other combo-based non-aerial slams do.
I've noticed the Sun and Moon's heavy slam will flat out ragdoll enemies instead of lifting them into the air like other heavy slam attacks I've used (sounds like the Sampotes) . Not sure if this is still true after the most recent update. It's hilarious tho.
I love the Sampotes' devious ass wind-up so much as well as the space program function of it. I just put all of the attack speed so that it can just YEET enemies into the void
i just got a riven for the sun and moon blades so yea kinda farming the materials to build it (edit: also looking foward to recruit my enemies to tenno space program with the sampotes)
i`d recomended to try build Syam on heavy attack, and use mirage. With mirage it becomes a very very unice and high damage weapon. Especially it hits enemy through walls and dors. I measured distance about 200 m, if there no "bad floor". It`s my favorite combinations for now.
I've noticed that the Syam's heavy wave is pretty unpredictable, and I've noticed that it even goes through walls. All in all, I'd say its pretty valuable, even without a combo build
I'm a relatively new player (around 3-4 weeks), I acquired Sampotes by mr4 (about a week into playing) and it has carried me ever since. I'm now mr8 doing mr20-30 activities and confusing so many teammates as I'm able to insta-kill stuff even they can't, and anything I don't kill is no longer on the same planet. It's safe to say it's a mildly good melee weapon.
@@picklerick2861 Having a good weapon doesn’t mean you reach high MR quickly, in fact, it tends to mean the opposite. MR goes up quickly if you’re using a variety of weapons, so if you’re only using the same melee, it’s gonna take longer to reach higher ranks. But hey, I bet the Warframe grind is a nice breath of fresh air compared to bounty simulator, eh?
@@SmoothTurtle840 Tbh I don't really farm out for affinity, I just get it passively without using many new items. Most of my affinity comes from Railjack Intrinsics since those give so much affinity for no apparent reason. Sampotes has allowed me to gain access to things like my own Railjack, level 80+ missions, requiem relics, riven mods and tomorrow even steel path (once my necramech is built and I complete the new war the angle quest), at a mr where I have no right to be there. Simply because it does way too much damage. And yes it is sooooo much better then bounty farming
Considering Kullervo being based on a finnish mythological character, I'd assume Sampotes' name is at least partly based on the Sampo from finnish myths. But, who knows.
If we are indeed going for a greek pronunciation for the azothane, it wouldn't be "Azo-Thanie", it would more likely be "Azoth-anie", so a similar syllable structure to "persephone".
In duviri, the Edun seems to massively outdamage Sun and Moon, plus it has way longer range. It's a huge upgrade. I dunno if that's me not properly using Sun and Moon or what.
Hi, at 5:00 I'd like to know which mods to use to inflict the same damage? Currently I have a build that is based on status effects and attack speed and damage depending on the status inflicted. How does it manage to do only heavy attacks and inflict so much damage?
Crit mods like True Steel/Sacrificial Steel have double crit chance on Heavy attacks, Crit Damage mods like Organ Shatter (or Amalgam Organ Shatter for decreased wind up speed at the cost of some crit damage), Gladiator Might (Crit Damage buff, gotten from Cetus bounties), Killing Blow (boosts Heavy Attack damage and wind up speed), Quickening (extra combo gain and attack speed boost), Pressure Point for base damage increase (nab the prime version from Baro when possible or use Sacrificial Pressure instead if able).
good good, I want them to be good. I hate many people I seen talking complain about new weapons being op. The work and time you put into getting some shit they should be overpowered.
Its unfortunate nobody talks about the Argo & Vel sword snd shield from Duviri. Ive not seen a singke oerson even grab it for mastery unless they were alrewdy at legendary 1 or 2 already. Despite the heavy attack maybe not being the best. Its currently, at least as far as im aware, the stringest sword and shield considering its amazing crit and status, combined with 80 percent slash weighting, with rrakky higj base damage to boot. Aside from m a y b e the Silva and Aegis with a niche setup, the Argo & Vel is the best. Mind you, I dont know everything, theres likely a synergy, or some sort of gimick or mechanic with another semword and shield that makes it better than the Argo. So, if there is something you are aware of. Feel free to to let me know.
Taking Sun and Moon damaging waves on heavy attack for warframes is one of the things I'll never understand the reasoning for. Like... why? This double nikanas are so cool, why not give them the same two waves? Weird.
tbf skana is pretty lethal with how strong the stance mods for swords are, but yeah, the duviri weapons should not be available before mr 10 at the absoloute earliest. As it stands they are invalidating the only reason for certain weapons like the standard orthos existing in the first place by making them worthless from the moment a player starts their journey.
what are your general thoughts, Kengineer, and others on the Duviri's new weapons, and the whole incarnon adapators? I mean, power creep is a thing, but...don't you feel this update made it more of a power SLAM? is the game spiraling into just... a big numbers generator?
incarnons are pretty mediocre all around. Didn't really add new power and are annoying to have to keep charging in missions. Would've rathered them just buff the trash weapons directly than add a band-aid buff them in the form of another grind. Melees are melees and are sort of irrelevant from the start because DE hates melee now
@@maskettaman1488 In the defense of generating charge to use the incarnon form, that is kinda exaggerating it to say it's annoying given how fast they charge. A few headshots here, a couple of melee swipes there, and they're fully charged. You can maintain incarnon form for 99% of a mission.
@@nickl3138 why would I bother with that when I can just grab a kuva zarr and have a better weapon without any downside? That's my point. The incarnons come with the thorn of having to charge them and the reward is that they get to be mediocre for a bit.
@@maskettaman1488 The idea behind the adapters is to make older weapons, created to deal with enemies equal to our current mid game, useful in late game. Simply buffing the guns that got adapters would be much worse when it comes to power creep, as those buffs would also apply to the newer players using these weapons at levels they were designed around. With the adapters, these weapons can stay as early game weapons for the newer players, but can then be upgraded to be viable, and in some cases meta for late game.
They really need to fix the terrain limitations on so many alt attacks it kills certain items so hard also the sampotes needs damage scaling im tired of alt attacks being utility only when I choose a weapon I like ex furax wraith incarnon sibear incarnon both make elemental zones that lift and do nothing but give forced element procs and the lift ends instantly on furax wraith bc the heat counts as hitting a lifted enemy
A bit disappointed with the Sampotes. I really, really hoped that they would keep the same unique Drifter heavy bonks for the Warframes tho. Those heavy slam bonks feel great and look satisfying... if only Warframes can also have them...
The sun and moon is an amazing weapon that is comparable to dual keres prime stat wise. The stance has very high multipliers too mostly on neutral combo. No idea why people think it's not great
@@noahedenborg4221 the standing combo is fast enough and it hits multiple times so you still get lots of slash. Dual keres prime is the same with crossing snakes. However crossing snakes has 1 forced slash
@@noahedenborg4221 which is once again the same as the dual keres prime (2% lower slash weight to be specific). It's quite a bit better then what people think. Is it new meta? No of course not but it's extremely good, not mid.
The Sampotes also has bonus 4 combo on enemies Hit by the Normal slam attack outside duviri(no such attacks in there) sadly there is no use to scaling the heavy from combo meter
i think its pronouced azo fane and sam poe tess actually syam heavy attack projectile has infinate travel ut it climbs over stuff thats why some tilesets it seems to disapear
I am hoping you could answer this question here, especially since I think many people may want this response as well. The last evolution quest for the Zaramin incarnon weapons is to have an incarnon weapon equipped in the 3 weapon slots. I had a laetum pistol requiring this, so I thought I would use two weapons I put diviri incarnon adaptors on to, since this makes those weapons have an incarnon mode. However, I didn’t get the benefit of the evolution and I am not sure why. Any chance you know why?
I'm guessing you need incarnon weapons from Cavalero (zariman vendor) only. They were introduced into the game much earlier and I guess the list of weapon compatible for these evolution quest was hardcoded with them in mind and was not revisited for Duviri release.
