3 videos over 3 days of Tet covering 3 regions of Vietnam. Awesome concept Sonny but even better is the execution of all 3 videos. Somewhere out there is a course on media at some university that is using you as an example of how to do it right. I just feel bad for those students after seeing your videos in class though as they will go out and wolf down a big mac.
It always drove me nuts when I was in the Navy that we would go to all of these new and interesting places in Asia and all over the Pacific and my shipmates would just look for the closest McDonald's or anything like it for food. I had to drag guys to different restaurants to try the local cuisine. And for the most part, they were always glad I did. Except durian. We all really regretted trying durian.
I'm happy that you called Tet "Lunar new year" instead of "Chinese new year". "Chinese new year" is a very biased way to talk about Tet because not only the Chinese people celebrate it but also many other asian countries' people do. I don't like whenever any foreigners call Tet "Chinese new year" because that makes me think by default, they mean only the Chinese people have Tet.
I agree. So many time i have to correct my foreigner friend to speak it right. I dont like people call chinese new year while you are staying in Việt Nam. Chinese new year doesnt presentation for lunar new year in every country.
you do know that your country was under the rule of china for centuries right? only people with chinese heritage celebrates it, not just "asian countries"

I am raw vegan and cry sometimes when I watch people cooking meat, but I am hooked on your channel. I am Vietnamese (American) and feel you are helping me to reconnect to my roots through your channel. I feel you have a Vietnamese soul . . . and a beautiful one as well. Keep up the good work.
I had tears in my eyes when Sonny handed over "Well Wishing" money to the elders to show his respect . I wish I still have my parents to repeat of doing so. I remembered long ago each Tet I wished my parents with the red envelopes that content some money, we called " Longevity ' gift . Each year I noticed more gray on my parent's hair. Memories can last forever, so for whom still have your parents, cherish these moments while you can.... Happy New Year !!!

all mom in Vietnam often said that :" i just keep your lucky money for now, and when you grown up, you can take it back" but trust me, it will never happen, you cant take back your money

Growing up in Southern California, I can say that the Viet-American community has amazing access to authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Banh tet during the new year and everything else you can imagine. Amazing amazing amazing Vietnamese food in SoCal. Check out SoCal sometime, Sonny, especially Westminster (the biggest Vietnamese diaspora outside of Vietnam). You will not be disappointed. Seriously the best food show ever
"When you were little, what did you do with your tet money?" My mom took it all....every asian household can relate to this. haha! Never seen any tet money my whole life. LOL
Fun fact: The bitter melon in southern Vietnamese is homophone with "to overcome miserable". So southern Vietnamese eat it with the hope of overcoming all the miserable in the new year. The northern Vietnamese people dont call bitter melon as the southern people so northerners do not usually eat it in Tet
Trevor is too repetitive and a bit bland and Mark has freakish face reactions and eats too wildly to the point its a bit uncomfortable. this is by far the best food review show. genuine and sarcastic personality with realistic reactions to everything. Also imo the best editing and production quality. Keep it up sonny, i hope that you're able to expand your channel vastly.
I introduced my dad to your videos since he was from Vietnam and he really likes your videos. He's even said that he likes the way you review food better than the videos from when Gordon Ramsay went to Vietnam and tried Vietnamese food.
Hey Sonny. I'm a new subscriber of your channel. I really like your videos because I can relate to most of it.. I'm from northeast India, you'll be amazed how similar the northeastern culture is to that of Vietnam or China, in terms of pork, fresh river food, rice beer etc. You should visit.. I like 4 things about your videos 1. It's funny 2. You show the process of how you get your food or the hunt 😊 3. You mention the price tags which makes it easier for people to calculate and inspire to travel. 4. You use a "healthy" sarcasm to state the obvious negative side of things. 😂

This Tet series is very heartwarming for me. Unfortunately, this year I was not able to spend Tet with my family bc my girlfriend had surgery. But while she was recovering, we watched your Tet videos and at least experienced Tet with you Sonny. We are both foodies, so a video about Tet food is probably the best way to spend Tet for us anyways haha.

He's actually supposed to dip the rice paper in water before using so that it softens and can be used as a wrap. But he already started using it dry and so that's why she said it's too late to dip it in the water, not the sauce
