I teach using just one of many accents in the world. Please only learn it if you like it and if you are interested in learning it. I do not believe there is one “correct” accent or manner of pronunciation and I fully encourage EFL/ESL learners to expose themselves to as many varieties of English around the world to become accustomed to the beautiful variations of this world language. I focus mostly on teaching “Modern RP” (I may just say “RP” in my older videos, but to clarify, I do specifically mean “Modern RP”), however, you will hear a lovely little Yorkshire twang to my accent from time to time too. Please LOVE and BE PROUD of your accent. After all, it is part of your identity and makes you unique. 💚

Thank you so much! It's quite helpful! I learned American English when I was a child and went to the UK for university education. It made me mix up some words' pronunciation, and your videos really helped me a lot.

Yeah I'm mostly confuse in schwa sound like how to pronounce it clearly but after saw your video, I felt that this is not as difficult as I used to think. If we work hard then nothing is difficult and I will definitely work hard to remember this. Thanks Emma 😊😊😊

Hi Emma, good job as always! I've noticed that the pronunciation /e:/ is very common in British English. Do you think that it is something related to age, or both young and old people use it regularly?
@Pronunciationwithemma
@Pronunciationwithemma 4 года назад
I’ve noticed that the diphthong sounds a lot “posher”.

Hi this was really helpful. One day my daughter who is in Year 1 came home with a sheet of paper with words like chair, hair, fair, stair, etc. Because we just came to the UK a few months ago from South Korea where only American English is taught

Hello Emma, Thank you for your videos. Is there any difference between /ə:/ and /3:/?
@Pronunciationwithemma
@Pronunciationwithemma 4 года назад
The first one doesn’t exist. However, in some dictionaries they represent the second sound with the first symbol you wrote. So in that case, no, there’s no difference :)

Acá en Chile, decimos wear, para referirnos a alguien que está molestando. Por ejemplo, si un chileno te dice "Deja de wear" lo que te está queriendo decir, es que dejes de molestar.
@sebastianpastorfernandez937
@sebastianpastorfernandez937 3 года назад
Y weón. ¿Alguien que es muy molesto?
@danielflores4278
@danielflores4278 9 месяцев назад

I posted this message in comment section of yours previous video about TH, because I never got reply I just posting it here. Sorry for interrupting the subject of this video. "Hi teacher, I have a doubt. How I can find which sound (voiced th or unvoiced th)is aplicable when I see th in different words?"
@Pronunciationwithemma
@Pronunciationwithemma 4 года назад
Voiceless is usually content words and voiced is usually structure/function words. Though, this isn’t a solid rule.
