Thank you. Have done this decades ago. I now have a tote of granny squares. After my husband died suddenly it was a quiet therapy. After ten years it is time to make a lap blanket. I sew together back loops then front loops. My squares are a gaint mixture of pinks in middle then green then white. Kinda shabby chic colors of flowers. Thanks for the reminder and incentive.
Generous! I have been sitting on bags of granny squares for years because I was dreading the thought of connecting them. But now, I feel ready to tackle and finish my project. Thank you so much. ❤
Thank you, so much for this great tutorial. I'm doing a granny square project for the first time and I passed the hurdles of making the squares and getting all of the ends weaved in. I have just successfully joined the first 4 squares of a 60 square Christmas tree skirt.
Love it! I often makes squares of scrap yarn and really don’t like the “join as you go” method. Your way looks easy, relaxing, and quick to do while watching TV.
@edpurponly Blocking is when, thought either moisture or heat, you can manipulate the fiber of a project to be a certain shape or size. Usually it so the yarn doesn't curl in on itself.
I just finished all my squares for a cardi and have considered numerous ways of joining, going back and firth between sewing and crocheting. I was leaning toward crocheting, as the yarn is used one time only and it doesn’t cause the wear of bringing the yarn through stitches over and over again. But going back and forth like here and joining shorter lengths of yarn with a magic knot might be the sweet spot. Thanks!
First time visiting your channel. I enjoyed this tutorial and listening to you speak. You have a calm and soothing voice yet confident in your instructions. I’ve always ridden the struggle bus when it comes to joining. What method is best, easiest, looks good, etc. My least favorite has been to sew them together mainly because of deciding how much yarn to begin with so that it doesn’t look frayed by the time I run out and then having to weave an end. Well ta-da, you solved the problem. That little magic knot never crossed my mind. Thank you for this tutorial and I will sew these squares together and think of B. Hooked each time I join from now on.
Thank you for this, very easy to follow and to the point! I'm making my first blanket and as I'm approaching finishing all my granny squares I was getting nervous that I wouldn't understand how to put them together!
I need to go get a prepaid visa to join I'm not putting any of my cards online any more. Too much hacking. Anyway. Need to join 8 granny squares. 4 in the front. 4 in the back. Makes a guy type bucket hat. So adorable. Made the granny squares, just didn't think it was gonna be so hard to join them. Gonna watch this video. It looks like your stitch that joins the squares. Gonna try.❤
Hi Brittany….Wow this is a much easier way and it looks so good. I haven’t done granny squares in a very long time bc I hate joining them. I also watched your tip video on how to make the squares even all around. Love your granny squares….they are so pretty!! I love my Tshirt & can’t wait to see your next design. 🙌🙌 Have a great evening!😊🧶🦋
Thanks for the video ❤ is it better to join them in groups as you do or wait until all are done and join them at the end? What is the proper way to do it ? Thank you ❤
So I have 18 granny squares to connect. They're going to become a handbag and the yarn is thick cotton cord. I 've never done this before, so my question: Do I have to block them first?
I am knew to crocheting this seam to be the easiest but to work with four square at at time and then join all them I need help like staring with white and then color and back to white and then color then white again all way out
Hello 👋! I was starting to join my granny squares with my crochet hook and yarn for the more “bulky” attachments. But, after watching your video, this makes me want to undo them and do your method. I’m S💕 happy that I bumped into your video ☺️! And yes, I did subscribe 👍😀👍!!!
It's similar to the mattress stitch (that's the second of the two ways you can do this join), but not quite the same. I find that my seam looks so much better with the back loop method like this than the mattress seam.
The flipping back and forth from your face to the instructions is not a good method for a crochet video, I'm here to learn crochet, not circle back to view a beauty contest and the camera is too far away, it also sounds like you are speaking quickly like a sales pitch 🤓 💙🕊️🍵 Have a peaceful day everyone
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. I truly appreciate honest feedback from my viewers as it helps me improve the content and create better learning experiences. I apologize if switching camera angles made this video less helpful for you. I understand that different people prefer various teaching styles, and I'll definitely take your suggestion into consideration for my future videos. Regarding the comment about the camera angle, I want to clarify that showing my face is not to turn it into a beauty contest or to showcase how I look. It's simply because I believe in providing a more personable experience for my audience. My goal has always been to create a personal and engaging atmosphere, where learners can feel connected to the person behind the tutorial. Your feedback highlights areas where I can make improvements, and I'll certainly work on enhancing the video and audio aspects to create a better learning environment for everyone. Once again, thank you for your valuable input. It will undoubtedly help me grow as a content creator and crochet instructor.
@@bhookedcrochet thank you, I'm glad I can help, to have a more personable experience means different things to different people, I for example learn better with a soothing cheerful voice, a person's face is distracting from my thought process of learning, take a blind person for example their personal experience would likely be based on the timbre of the voice 🕊️
Thank you! I inherited a couple garbage bags of granny squares (from my granny, funnily enough) and am no stranger to fiber crafts, but I'm a terrible knitter and worse crocheter (crochetter?), but I can totally do this, and those squares won't go to waste now.
