I Made 8 layers and i went like 40 blocks away whit hard on and Nothing for 10m

It’s different for every person. For me it’s about 25 blocks away in the Center. But try at the base or above the farm

@@LittleAction they do I had built it over a lake not an ocean which prevented them from spawning I took it down and moved it to an actual ocean

Just close and open your game, stand in the area I was, and make sure the game is hard mode. I’m not good enough at editing to fake creeper spawns

@@BlazedMCs You don't need to be good at editing to fake creeper spawns, spawn eggs and command blocks exist. The game is in hard mode. Restarting the game does nothing.

​@@Accui1I did it in creative and only did one layer and they were spawning, now in survival after doing 4 layers they aren't. Makes me think brain rot got to me and I screwed up somewhere honestly .

@@geekinfamous3860 Chances are he screwed up the design, as mobs underground can harm the rates to 1 creeper every 5 minutes, having it built higher would be smarter.

@@Accui1 I rebuilt it same world different place and its working. The issue is the original place I built it is over a rivene that's completely underwater so idk tbh

The ocean matters only for a matter of spawn proofing the surrounding.

The creeper farm now spawns spiders. (Check my community post for more info before deciding to build)

U are prob in peaceful mode

IT may be slightly lower unless you spawn proof everywhere around.

The roof is to make sure that the farm is fully dark during daytime. You can try that but you will probably still need to do the roof

Are you in 1.20? You can try downloading my world to see what is different. I would suggest reloading your game, maybe leaving the area and coming back. I know the farm works but sometimes it's just about getting them to spawn, lol.

This is a first, lol. Try checking the hoppers, maybe they aren't all pointing into the chest. That is a really weird issue lol

Did you miss any trap doors on the roof? The only way they could spawn is if some trapdoors on the roofs were not there.

@@BlazedMCs Oh I'm stupid. I missed the trap doors on the very top level ceiling entirely. So the other mobs were spawning on the top level then getting stuck as they fell through. Thanks for the help!

Try reloading your game, and AFKing at different places. Sometimes bedrock can be buggy so try at the base, the middle, 25 blocks away, etc.

2-3 blocks would still work, it would just take longer to kill them

I don’t believe so. Sadly a few months back they patched that so now you need to kill them, not just hold out the sword

You can leave the game, click the pencil and change it to 4, or just make sure there aren’t any non spawn proofed areas within 6 chunks.

@@BlazedMCs umm well if it works then it would be working on my world wouldn’t it?! Instead of being arrogant, maybe you should help figure the issue out. I built it over an ocean, followed the tutorial step by step, even building it 100 blocks up as stated in the tutorial. I built 5 levels of it, and still doesn’t work. So again don’t be arrogant, and maybe help to fix the problem instead.

Sadly not, that is just how Minecraft works, you have a random chance of how much you get. Looting 3 will give you better drops but you will have to manually kill them

@BlazedMCs oh, it works! I currently have a creeper farm using it. I have 4 snow golems pinned in place so that each golem stands on 4 hoppers each. Each hopper has a piston that scrapes off the snow into snowballs. Hoppers chain then feeds my dispensers that are timed to shoot for 5 seconds every 30 seconds. I also use redstone to deactivate the pistons when a chest is more than half full, so there will not be an abundance of snowball drops just sitting there. Had to raise dispensers 3 blocks up to back them up so I could shoot snowballs through lava while lava was far enough back to not raise light levels too high. Soul fire works as well, but requires same distance even though it emits lower light. Because it takes 17 blocks for snow ball to drop low enough to hit the mobs. Snow balls hit the creepers dealing knockback and also ignite the creepers. Infinite supply of fire snowballs. Piston collection collects 5.4×4=21.6 snow balls per second while each dispenser fires 3 snow balls per second. Only allowing the dispensers 5 seconds of firing out of every 30 seconds allows for snowball generation to stay ahead of snowballs shot. The fire snowballs aren't necessary, as the knock back alone is enough to push the creepers off a ledge, but I had to use the fire for LOL sake.

It’s called Simulation distance, which is the distance in which mobs (among other things) can spawn.

I like to try in 10's. SO 10, 20 30 blocks away. Try 50 blocks above, or right at the bottom.
