This is super helpful! I see what you mean y "over blending! My first attempt was looking really good, and then I went just several dozen dabs too much and the colors no longerstamd apart, but have blended into a new color and look flat. Thanks for the tips, I'm going to keep trying!
This is a really nice painting you did, mine did not turn out anything like this as it "got away from me", but it was one of those "happy accidents so I'm going to try this again. 🥰 And I'm now a subscriber.
Glad you enjoyed it. We did a Red Nebula Sea too that you might enjoy. I will attach it below for ya: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2zOibs8AdsM.html
Very nice! I love painting nebulae, and I have found that you can easily add a lot of depth and richness (and realism!) by using a thin glaze or two. If the highlights get knocked back too much, just subtly add a bit more white to the strongest highlights.
Thanks buddy 🔥 Be sure to check out our playlist of all or nebulas we have done: ru-vid.com/group/PL1j4vqU7W_o0nyWDr3IOZ08LuHy2_ScZC&si=XNAMqi3VzWjd7Q5N
@@WildCreates Okay, so...first attempt was just that, a first attempt, and isn't worthy of sharing. BUT, I think I already figured out a few of the things I did wrong (waaaay too much paint to start, primarily), so I will keep at it. I do have one question: for oil, would you use Liquid Clear on the canvas, or not? I didn't (since you didn't mention it in the video and i thought what it would smear), but wanted to check. Thank you, as always!
For LC you can use it or not - BOTH will have different feels and affects. When you add LC it will make your paints more transparent allowing other colors to pull forward or show through.
This looks like a lot of fun! I've tried painting space scenes in photoshop, but I want to see what kind of results I get from physical media. I love the energy you put into the video!
I am glad that you like it and I hope you give it a try. We also did another one which you can check out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2zOibs8AdsM.html Make sure to hit that sub button for more awesome videos.
Thank you so much for the support - you are awesome. If you like this nebula - you might enjoy this red sea one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2zOibs8AdsM.html
Thanks for subbing! If you like this purple nebula you will love the Red Sea Nebula we did. Linked here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2zOibs8AdsM.html
Glad you like it - There is another nebula coming out really soon so make sure to hit that SUB button. Until then check out this Red Sea Nebula video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2zOibs8AdsM.html
I'm not sure if you will get to read this but I love your videos. I grew up watching Bob Ross and he inspired me to paint and all of your videos have helped me become better. Thank you so much. I would like to try this one but wanted to ask if you might have a tutorial of this but with oil paint? It's all I have. I covered the back in a permanent black liquid acrylic paint and allowed it to dry.
You are very welcome and I am glad that my videos are helping you out. I dont have a nebula video with oil yet ( but I plan on making one ) The good news is, its basically the same step ( just use less paint to start with )
@@WildCreates it would be wonderful to see you do one. I can't deny I've had some really great paintings but I tried this with oil and it was my first nebula. . I failed lol so I made it into something else. But I would love to try again. And. . . Your really cute 😂 so sorry. It had to be said.
My tip is - Paint it again BUT go slower, use a little less paint and pay attention to what colors you use ( transparent, semi, opaque ) all have different effects on colors. OH and ummmm dont forget the wine... wine helps every painting be 100x better ( trust me 🙂 ) I am not only cute BUT very handsome with a great head of hair and a velvet voice that wont quit.... AND dont forget HUMBLE... I am very humble 😂😂😂
@@WildCreates 😂😂😊 You are so correct. I got my wine. And most certainly not giving up. I'm going to keep trying and I'll get it. Wish I could show you the landscapes I've done thanks to your many helpful tips. This one was just a first for me. I certainly didn't expect to get it perfect on the first try. 😂
You can do whatever colors you want - This is just a guide to help you out. You can see some of the other colors we did here: ru-vid.com/group/PL1j4vqU7W_o0nyWDr3IOZ08LuHy2_ScZC
Thats the best party about nebulas and clouds - Everyone sees something different. We did another one you might be interested in too. Feel free to check it out below. Red Nebula Sea: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2zOibs8AdsM.html
Glad you enjoyed it - We just did another one about a week ago. Check it out and paint along: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2zOibs8AdsM.html
Yes it can be BUT it will have to be done in stages due to the drying time differences. I say paint it twice... the 1st round will be more of a test to see how everything reacts. This way you will have a better understanding Good luck.
Hey Wild, I really like this painting very much and maybe I'll do it one day. But I really hope on the next video you will do a tutorial on how to paint snow on the mountain with Winsor and Newton oil paint . I don't have the Bob Ross oil paint so the result might not be the same and I always struggle. I really hope you can help me! Thank you Wild.
I am glad that you like it and I will see what I can do in a future video for ya BUT until then I do have some videos on mountains where I do show myself adding winsor newton snow - check it out.
Bram has great stuff - This one might be a little easier to start with. Then when you get the basics. Try painting Bram's again. They trick is... to go a little slow, create contrast & form the edges.
I love how it looks and the process looked easy, but I definitely failed. Everything just looks flat. Yes colors pop, but I have no depth... I guess for this knowing how to paint clouds is a benefit😅
If it looks flat... that generally means you killed all the contrast. Make sure not eliminate all the black and to have bright colors next to some rich dark ones... That should help a lot.
Two questions. 1) Can this be done with latex paint? and 2) I'm redoing my room in a sci-fi, outer space theme. I'm painting the ceiling black and sticking high res photos of nebulae onto it. Then I'm having Lowe's pull the green shade out of the photos for my walls. But I'm worried that the line between black and green will be too harsh. Any recommendations for softening that transition?
To be honest I haven't tried it with latex paint... I am sure it is possible... just may require more time and working in smaller sections. The best advice I can give is TEST IT FIRST. If I were you, buy a 2x2 foot sheet of MDF or Drywall ( should only cost only a few bucks ). Then paint it black and test the colors on top of it. Then you can hold it up and move it around to see how it will look in different spots. As for the soft transitions. This will be tough with latex paint if you are not experienced. Generally air brushing on walls/ceiling is best ( but can be expensive ). I would recommend for a beginner use the "dry brush blending" technique ( look it up on YT ) - This will help blend and create better transitions. I hope that helps - Would love to see it when its all done.
the text box "closed captioning" is covering 50% of the video... not sure if that is your choice... or RU-vid formatting... great nebula!!! just wish I could see it without looking through words LOL
Thats you video play option... On the bottom left of the video player click on "CC" this will turn on or off the captions for all RU-vid videos going forward. Hope that helps.
thanks for this! funnily enough i was looking for a way to paint this on my Miniatures. but basically everyone goes: its easy. you take your airbrush. NOPE i dont have that option. so i found this. and just.. tried it on a base. and it works! thank you very much!
Ryan @3:47 you state to take a mixture of water and paint. If I am doing this with oil am I adding liquid white to the titanium white, or am I taking an acrylic white and mixing water to add my stars? Or are both methods acceptable? Any tutorial vids on how to achieve this effect?
If you are paint with only acrylics = Mix your white paint with a little water til it becomes a creamy liquid state For oil painting only: just use liquid white or mix any white with a oil medium til you get a soft creamy liquid. Both of these will for great for making stars. I hope that helps!
Are all colors actually painted "wet in wet" without drying between the different steps? I'm a total newbie to paintings and just don't know better. Thanks in advance. :)
This is done with acrylics - so some layers start drying right away. The over layers are done wet with what is called glazing. Here is a video that explains what glazing it so you have aa better understanding: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uqA7o6xjExk.html
Good question... It is ok to use an already black canvas BUT I would recommend you paint one yourself... The black will be way more rich. Adding to the space effect. Hope that helps
I have never tried. I am always down for a challenge the only thing I would be worried about is I think the paint would wear off when you play and strum it.
i tried painting this and the red nebula 3 times now and I just can't get either one down... The colors don't pop like they do in the video. Mine are very dull and you can barely even see them but in the video it's super bright.. not sure what I am doing wrong.
Without knowing - it kinda sounds like you may be using transparent or semi-transparent paint. Which with show the canvas underneath when drying f you don't layer. I kinda explain it in this video below... see if that helps: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_Vz7WsmUsqU.html
Fantastic painting. Would this be possible with oils? I don't have acrylic paint :/ I guess it would be difficult to layer with oils without over-blending.
100% You can... the trick is to start with a lot less paint and build up. If you notice you are mud mixing too much stop for the day and continue on the next day. This will let the paint to tacky up.
It does help if the layers are slightly tacky or slightly dry-ish BUT the issue might be you are just blending too much and too hard. Try it with a way lighter touch and I think that will give you better results
Ha ha ha Hell ya. I am glad you had fun... I bet if you were to paint it again it would be 10 times better because you understand it so much more now. I would love to see what you and your family painted. We also did another one... feel free to check it out below: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2zOibs8AdsM.html
That signals to me that you are using too much paint too fast... but hard to tell without being there. Can you send me a pic and I might be able to help.
Ha ha ha - I am glad to hear that you like it. Honestly the best thing to do is paint it again... I think you will be amazed at how much better the 2nd attempt is.
