Nice vid. Really appreciate seeing a true build vrs a tool review or worse…a short. Will try this one once I get a box joint jig built.

Haha! You and me both! I really enjoy doing to project builds, they seem to be less popular, but this channel will continue to work them in! Thanks so much for watching Ted!

Nice simple build that looks a lot more difficult to make than it really is. This kind of project is good for eliciting oohs and ahhs from relatives. Haha. Also, it's good to see a RU-vidr finishing a project without "squeegeeing" Rubio all over it. Watco is super easy to use and can be buffed/waxed to beautiful finish at about 1/3 the price. I just subscribed. Thanks.

I love it Rich and Peggy! No rubio on this one! It's so damn expensive, I would be worried about wasting it! :) I love the oil finishes. So easy to apply, not as much protection but still looks and feels great! Thanks for watching Guys!

Inspirational project. I made a trivet but used individual sticks crossing each other. Very time consuming method. Your system works ways better.
@FlynndoggWoodwork
@FlynndoggWoodwork Год назад
Thank you so much Rusty! I agree, I was looking at some ways to make it and it seems like attaching each stick would be very time consuming! This method really does make short work and really makes the spacing consistent! Thank you so much for watching!

I'm going to try this project, it came out really nice. My shop doesn't have heat so I'm bundled up. Average is 35 degrees but it doesn't stop me. Thank you for the build. Enjoy your channel.

That's awesome Paul! It really is quite easy! I'm the same way. Yesterday, I was out in my shop and my salamander wouldn't start so I just had to deal with it! You'll see my breath in all my videos for the next couple of months!

I just put heat in my shop, and while it is amazing to have, the cold never seemed to stop me before.

@@shanesmaineshop Oh that's great! Shane, it's super easy, I was actually surprised at how well it worked considering it took me almost no time to do! Best of luck to you! :)

Heck yeah! Im glad you did this video. I’ve been thinking of making some of these. We like to just sit the pots and pans on our dinner table instead of putting them in another bowl. Keeps from doing extra dishes lol. Great job and I was going to use a router but all I have a palm router. It has issues with hard woods though. Table saw looks like it’s a more efficient and easier way for going about it. Thank you for another great video!

Thanks so much Sneaky Hippo! Yeah, It is so easy to make. I'm thinking about making trivets for christmas presents next year for the family. I could easily batch out 10 of these in a day. Other than waiting for the border to glue up, it could totally be done in a day. Thanks as always for the comment and watching!

Nice job adapting the design choice as mistakes happen! The Danish oil was a good choice too.

Thanks so much Scratch! Danish oil is so easy to use. Love anything that I can apply with a cloth or paper towel vs a brush!

I will be making that. Does the Danish Oil raise the grain any? I really like the box joint jig. I will be making that also. Thanks for another great tutorial.

Great question Paul! I'm sure it does to some extent, I did not notice it on this trivet however. Not sure if it was because it was such a small project, or it didn't raise it that much. I did notice that it seeped the oil for about 12 hours. So I had it on a paper towel in my kitchen after final coats. Thanks as always for watching Paul!

Haha! I do too. I’m going to start increasing them in the future. Was testing out the serious videos for a bit. They are easier to do, but not as fun for me either!

Nice build. Useful, too. I take it Danish oil is somewhat heat resistant?
@FlynndoggWoodwork
@FlynndoggWoodwork Год назад
Well, I'm definitely not the expert on danish oil, but from what I read on the internet, it is heat resistant. I used it the other night with a pan of taco meat, and it seemed to be fine, but only time will tell! Thanks for watching Scotty!
