This is a very pretty quilt.. love the colors. I started quilting when I retired at 70 by taking one class and making a lap size quilt. I have learned so much in the past 8 years from just watching Utube videos like yours. I am now subscribed to yours!
Yippee! You just gave me a solution to a problem I had. I had purchased several pieces of fabric that I thought were too cute to leave behind (never heard that one before eh?!). I have searched and searched patterns but just didn't find one that fit the fabric. This hit me as soon as I saw it. You did it! I am doing a happy dance :) Thank you!
I prewash and iron since fabrics shrink differently Add a sheet ir two of Color Stay. I find that keeps my different fabrics from color-bleeding.. Then I iron with spray starch. The extra body is great for cutting. Some people cringe when I speak of prewash but I do it the minute I bring my fabrics in. I may spend a day just prepping a bunch of fabric and getting it ready to start projects another day….ironing and squaring. I have just discovered your channel; love it. Subscribed and liked. Great thanks.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the subscribe. I think everyone has their comfortable methods and way of working. I think you should do whatever makes you happy! don't worry about what everyone else does :)
Love the quilt. , thank you for sharing your pattern and tutorial. I also have the same table you have in the background...i keep all my crafting supplies in it. It was worth the money i spent on it.❤
ooh yay! Thats great! @MACoutureCrafting has really great 3 yard quilt tutorials too! make sure you give her channel a look and tell her I sent you 🥰🥰www.youtube.com/@MACoutureCrafting
For a seasoned quilter, this is almost therapeutic. I can see myself chain piecing, with my ear buds in, listening to a podcast, and sewing like there is no tomorrow! With just 3 fabrics, the possibilities are endless!!! Thank you for sharing; I love your content 💜
Beautiful quilt.. really easy for a beginner. In order to get a “really “ precise cut ( pieces) I always steam & press my fabrics Thank you for sharing your knowledge 🥰
You're not the first person who has mentioned that to me! I've been looking for someone that I can send you to. I just found a source for Canada. UK and Australia quilters are my next people to source!
I was told it's more accurate to use your ruler to make a straight cut; other's do like you. What is the best for a beginner? Thanks, just discovered your videos luv them.
Beautiful quilt You do beautiful work My question is what is the board in the back ground that you use to arrange your patterns before you assemble it What is it made of and where can you purchase one? Thank you
I'm a relatively newbie and it would be very helpful if you would sew at least one row together and explain how to connect vertical and horizontal blocks together. I'm sorry to be so ignorant about this but everything is quite confusing for a newbie. This is not meant to be a criticism, but thinking this might also help others that are trying to quilt without a quilting buddy. Thank you.
Haha I don't mind sharing! It's actually a "tool storage" piece for garage organization. I purchased this one from Sam's club, buy home Depot and other hardware stores carry them too. It's been amazing for storage and organizing! 🥰
I am new to your channel and machine quilting. Is there a difference on how to cut the fabric. Isn't there bias side and stretchy side. What way do ya cut. I don't understand. Pat
I just like my tiny iron 😘 most of what I do is small seams and I can use my mini ironing board so it fits well with my space. I also find it less stressful on my wrist when I'm sewing and ironing most of the day.
Do you ever press your fabric before you cut it? I like insuring that I have a very straight cut by pressing my fabric. Not everyone does, but I was wondering if you ever did.
I do most times. Sometimes I'm too excited and I don't, but I if the pressure of the project is high and I really want superb accuracy, I will press my fabric. It does lead to an overall better quilt 😘
@@ISeeStarsQuilting I requested the free quilt pattern and I recieved your reply to my request, but I can not find how to download it. I have clicked on everything. When I clilck on the Free Topple Quilt Pattern and the web address beside it, it goes straight to the tutorial and from there I only get a request for the pattern. HELP!!!
I am amateur at quilting and am making a quilt with lots of coloring it. I did black dashing and it looks good. I put a white border on and it doesn’t look good. I want to do four different fabrics for my border. Has anyone ever done that before?
They did not... but they were bought by their sister fabric company: Keepsake Quilting You can still find all of their wonderful fabrics here www.keepsakequilting.com/pages/pineapple-fabrics
Love this fabric, I have it in a FQ Bundle! I’m just wondering is there a reason why you don’t iron your fabric b4 cutting ?? I find I use to run into trouble if I didn’t iron/ press before cutting!!
HI thats a great question... most of it comes down to being a little lazy. I did realize after shooting this video that it was pretty bad and I probably should have ironed it... oops. If its usually not too bad I will skip that step but a good quilter should always start with properly pressed fabric!
@@ISeeStarsQuilting After I said write that I almost came back n deleted! I will tell you my generation who is much older than yours my oldest son will be 56 this year and you are much much younger! Anyway, we use to hang our clothes on the clothes line and we/ me use to even iron the sheets. Mens underware!! Lol I’m kinda a iron freak sew I really had no business asking! I’m not a true quilter, just started about 2018 but sewed most on my life. Anyway I enjoy your tutorials very much just had to ask and please I did not mean any disrespect at all!! 🤗
That’s a really good question and her answer was perfect. I’ve learned to starch and press fabric before cutting. It helps my accuracy. This fabric is gorgeous and the quilt turned out so nice.
@@sharontuch3405 it was a legitimate question. Not snarky at all, it’s always more difficult when on a keyboard and you can’t hear the voice but I’d say no worries.
Ok I have been watching your videos for a about 3 months and I think I’ve watched all of them. I am definitely a subscriber I have only been into quilting for about a year and I love it but I seriously need some design help. I bought a beautiful jelly roll because I loved the prints. I have a pattern but I am having a really hard time finding a background fabric that will look good and not get lost. It’s the Sophie by Monda brenda riddle. It has pinks, greens, greys and reds. I was thinking since it’s a floraly print possibly going with a light yellow?
Hi! Ooh I do love this fabric! Good choice. I'm happy to help you pick out fabric. Are you looking to hilight a solid fabric? Like maybe a dark navy? Or a soft grey? What pattern have you decided on? Let me know and I can make some custom suggestions. Thank you for subscribing! 🥰🥰🥰
@@ISeeStarsQuilting I was thinking of going with a solid background because there is so much going on with the patterns on the jelly roll. I like the butterfly quilt blocks that Missouri star does a tutorial on. I’m not sure if you have seen it. The jelly roll strips would make the body of the butterfly and it would need a contrast for the background.
I have a question on this quilt. Can you cut the larger blocks a little larger (and strips) to make this quilt larger like for a full size bed? Thank you.
I think you definitely could! You would need probably 2.5 times the amount of yardage though since this was only a 3 yard quilt and it made a throw quilt size.
It's more of having correct amount of fabric (2.5+ yards more) than cutting blocks bigger to get a larger quilt. Don't see any way of getting a full size quilt with only 3 yards!
It doesn't leave the fabric with any thickening or starchy feeling, no. If you're looking for a stiffener, I would suggest using a diff product on top of it. The flatter just gets the wrinkles out.
I just fixed the link 😘 Thanks for pointing that out. Try this link to get your FREE pattern for the Topple Quilt Pattern - stitch.academy/free-topple-quilt-pattern
I don't prewash my fabrics. These fabrics did not come prewashed. So if you like to prewash all your fabrics, you would need to do it while it is still in the yardage before cutting
Hey I've been recovering from shoulder surgery. I haven't gotten to my emails today yet. Jenny send me an email christen @ ISeeStarsQuilting.com and I'll send it to you in the morning.
It's no bother at all! I'm happy to take care of it for you. I'm just a little off my game for a while and on much appreciated pain killers that make me pretty loopy 🤪
Hi Christen , did you receive my email about the three inch jelly roll race quilt you made using three inch strips? I commented on a previous video you made about me wanting to do one in three inch strips also and you asked me to send an email with my email address and said you’d send a picture of the quilt you made but I never got a response. Not sure if you even received my email so I’m just following up Thankyou😊
