super simple PEMA or Parenthesis Exponents Multiplication then finally Addition. This assumes that x divided by y is the same as x Multiplied by y raised by the negative first power. [x * y ^ -1 or x * 1/y] It also assumes that x - y is the same thing as -y + x. we only have division and we have no exponents. I will assign the exponent -1 to every 2 that is divided by. so it is actually 2 * 2 ^ -1 * 2 ^ -1 * 2 ^ -1. We can also write this as (2 ^ -3 ) * 2. 2 ^ -3 is 1/8 then 1/8 * 2 = 2/8 or 1/4. PEMA is used to eliminate the ambiguity with PEMDAS by turning division into multiplication and subtraction into addition. Instead of Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally, it is Please Excuse My Attitude.
