Some naming mistakes in the video: 0:32 it's not "Liz Furrow" but Liz O'Farrell, a Cumann na Mban member who participated in the Easter Rising. It's also not the "Countas" but the "Cuntaois", the Irish word for "countess", in reference to Constance Markievicz. 2:11 It's not O'Halleran but Michael O'Hanrahan, who was executed after the Easter Rising. It is also not "John Houston" but Sean Heuston, who was a member of Fianna Eireann and who was executed following the Easter Rising 2:18 It's not Michael Gunn, but Michael Gaughan, a Provo who died in a British prison in 1974. It also isn't MacSweeny but Terence MacSwiney, the mayor of Cork who died of a hunger strike after being arrested by the Anglos in 1920.
Those who are having trouble looking up Liz Furrow, The lyrics are wrong Its actually saying Liz Farrell Or her full name Elizabeth O'Farrell Nickname Nurse Farrel Case you're having trouble looking up who the part of the song is about. Hello from Dublin btw 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Great song. Love it. Delighted this hasn't been hijacked by any far right idiots. It clearly shows that we have broken free...we now stand tall...and we have a responsibility to help others who now go through what our forefathers and foremothers went through. It's a privilege that we can help others who remind us of our own past.
The Far Right is with you, we want our countries to be free and united and strong. We want our people to be free, physically but in spirit as well. This song describes what the Far Right is doing and has been doing since the 30’s and 40’s, we’re fighting for freedom.

nice job with the accurate explenation in the description and the video overall but why did you cut it off so soon? there wouldve been more music before the video actually ended.
Honestly, it was all a personal choice, I just wanted to capture the lyrics and their meaning rather than just the instrumental, also it’s a lot easier to loop if you’re just trying to learn or understand the words. Thanks though, glad you enjoyed :)
Not irish bye blood, well i think, u never know but when i visited belfast i put my name up on the good side of the wall. Ireland belongs to the irish and no one else. I felt the kindness and the love of the irish in dublin and my heart will always bleed until ireland is finnaly whole again.
Can someone help me out on this please? Who was Liz Furrow during the Easter Rising please? I obviously know who Winifred Carney was and her Webley pistol and obviously I know who Liz (Elizabeth) "O'Farrell" was, but who was Liz Furrow please? Thanks. And it should be "Countess" (Markievicz) not Contas and and I think it should be either Eamonn Ceannt or Thomas Kent (both executed in 1916) not Eamonn Kent (suspect it's Eamonn Ceannt the great Uilleann Piper and signatory). And it should be MacDermott not MacDermont (but it should be Mac Diarmada really).
Hey! Sorry for such a late response, I’m not Irish or of Irish descent (so sorry for the misspelling of the surnames) but I tried researching it myself and couldn’t find much on Liz Furrow. Perhaps a native Irish can shed some light?
I believe Liz Furrow in this song is just a misspelling of Liz O'Farrell. Other versions of this song never mention a Liz Furrow. My research into it also came up empty, which is odd since if there was a Liz Furrow who fought in 1916 - she would be well documented.
right now, i wear an easter lily for the people of palestine. just as we are always fighting for irish freedom, so must we fight for all oppressed people.

As an Irish person I support Palestine and have absolutely no problem with people seeing Palestine and their struggle in this song. It's really not a big problem.

@kbd16135 only in later years, they originally weren't. & not all members were leftist either, but thats what caused the split up into the actual ira, provisional ira, etc. Was differences in political ideology. & at the end of the day leftist or not they were still nationalist & wanted to unite Ireland as a whole & remove the tyranny of England. 26+6=1 tiocfaidh ar la
