I agree. All I have to do is get the proper tools, wobbly socket, and extensions. I will be good. But you definitely Inspires all us backyard mechanic.. I wish you had it for this same car when u need to change the gasket for the manifold. And the other one is intake manifold replaced but more importantly, the damn Knock sensor has to be replaced its in the intake area of the block. Urrrghhhh pls 🙏🏿 help!!🤬🤬🙃😝

Just followed your basic advice on a 2003 Toyota Avalon XLS. Being very careful it took me 4 hrs to remove and replace the more difficult rear 3 plugs, but I could get my hands and tools in place as you said with only a few minor adjustments. I was also able to use a small box end wrench to remove two (driver side) of the three bolts holding the spark plug tubes in place. The biggest pain was dissconecting the powercables from the passenger side two spark plug tubes. I did not have to remove the power cable from the far spark plug tube on driver side. I'm sure each situation will be different, but I know I could now remove and replace the three rear plugs in an hour or so. Don't be afraid to do it, but make sure you have your tools in order before starting 😁 The idea is more intimidating than the actual job. The Toyota dealer claimed the intake manifold and other items needed to be removed to get to the rear plugs but that is simply not true. My cost for 6 NGK Iridium spark plugs thru Walmart was $36 and I had to buy a couple of tool items for $15 including the wobble socket. Big difference from the $312 quoted me by a Toyota shop. Be sure to use a magnetic spark plug socket to remove and replace the sparkplugs. When replacing the plugs hand screw them in as far as possible before using a ratchet to tighten them. One caution is to make sure you don't lose the spark plug tube gasket when removing the spark plug tubes. I did but was able to get a new one for $3. I'm 73 and if I can do this anyone can. Thanks for your great video that encouraged me to change my own plugs😊

Thank you for taking the time to film and explain. I just successfully changed my spark plugs on a 1997 Toyota Camry V6. Tip! Make your life easier: use multiple 'universal swivel joints' and 3" + 6" extensions. Easier to remove, torque, and saves your hands. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge!

Thanks. For those of larger stature: soaped left arm with nitrile gloves, a long pair of angle tipped needle nose to remove the back driver side plug wire, a kneeling foam pad for the top of the radiator area to rest your right knee on when taking care of the last plug. Good info Abuzar, thanks again. If anyone is interested, I moved and replaced my knock sensors to the outside of the engine with $25 sensors, not Toyota $125 sensors. 50,000 miles and no problems.

You can also access the back plugs comfortably without removing the PCV valve and manifold ground wire, if you put a long, thick plank of wood on the front valve cover and the radiator support frame. Then just lie on your front on the plank and feel around for the plug wires, and use the right extension lengths to loosen/tighten the plugs. I do this every time and it turns it from awkward to a piece of cake.

Hi - this video gave me the confidence to "have a go mate" (I'm from AUS) and it worked out well. I taped any connections with tape that could leave a part in the spark plug tube. So the spark plug socket was taped to the socket bar. Also my spark plug socket was magnetic which I consider a must as it holds the spark plug firmly but not too firmly with magnetic force. I can't thank you enough because I am low income and your video saved me a lot of money I would have had to pay a garage. Cheers !!!

Mine is not so simple, my camry has the 3vze-fe with a distributor not coil packs so the distributor is in the way too. It can still be done with your method but with alot of struggle. I actually have taking the intake off down to a science so I can actually do it faster than struggling with swivels ,extensions and universals. I wish I had coil packs like the 1 MZs do but unfortunately I have the 3vze-fe. Great engines though. Best V6 Toyota made.
