The easy way to release Das Clay from a mould. 

You're very welcome. I normally use Hearty clay, but I wanted a longer lasting finish, so I tried Das... but boy, was it tricky to get out of intricate moulds. So I tried the same technique of popping in the freezer like I use for the Hearty clay. To my surprise, it worked. Thank you again for commenting 😀

Thank you for commenting. I made this video after the one on Hearty clay, as I know Das clay is far more easily available and therefore opened clay crafting up for more people. To my surprise the same technique for Hearty clay also worked with Das and other similar clays 😀

You're very welcome. It was an idea that just popped in my head one day. So I tried it out and to my surprise it worked. It also doesn't affect the clay in anyway. Just be sure to let it fully cure before painting it 😃

Thank you for your comments. When using my freezer method you can use the clay straight from the pack. You don't need to let it dry out a bit. 😀

@Cadoo55 we've all heard of corn starch/flour to dust in our moulds. But the more detailed the moulds the less that technique can work. Especially so for things like the frame mould, where the clay can distort very easily. This can be very frustrating. This video was made for people who struggle to remove clay from their moulds after using the corn flour technique and would rather just give up. I don't want to see people give up using clay and moulds and after the other video I made first using the same technique with Heart clay, I thought I'd try it with Das clay. I'd be more than happy to share a link for any video you have that makes using clay and moulds easier for people.

The Playdoh clay is almost identical to Hearty clay (please see my other video about that) I've not tried the freezer trick on that clay, but I can't see why it wouldn't work. I have tried the freezer trick on Hobbycrafts own kids clay and that worked fine. Thanks for the comment.... Am I right in thinking you're going to use the clay for a pumpkin on a Haunted house?

@@MixedMediaArtsAndCrafts actually, I was thinking DnD dice for my current project. I have several different molds and I'm a trading card seller in my area's big flea market. I thought it would be nifty to have homemade dice on the table. I'm also looking into getting multiple colors because I really want to try marbling the clay. I know air clay won't make that clackety sound that DnD players love, but I still want to try it. I'm also thinking beads and charms for handmade jewelry. I also have a huge block of regular air dry clay that I need to rehydrate, i know that clay will make the traditional noises of a die rolling on the table. Plus i know its sturdy. I made bird skulls in different sizes and coated half of them with mod podge when I was done, my cats knocked over the box of skulls and the coated ones did just fine. The ones I didn't finish, tiny pieces of the beaks came off. So, fun fact, mod podge small clay projects and they're kitty proof.

@redvalentinos1933 wow, you certainly do lots of different types of crafts. The thing with paper air drying clay (Hearty) or the Playdoh clay (most likely foam clay) they both aren't that good for making things that are going to be handled alot. It's like rubbing your hand over paper again and again. It starts to wear away. I'd suggest a polymer clay for jewellery pieces and to make dice with. I hope the freezer technique works for what you want it to though. Keep me posted. Thanks again for commenting 😀
