Dennis Egger will provide an engaging overview of recent empirical work on the labour market integration of refugees and migrants. There is a lot of academic and political debate about the costs and benefits of immigration, and the dynamics by which new arrivals are integrated into communities and labour markets. We will touch on new economic approaches to measure the impact of migration on domestic workers and refugees and migrants themselves, and what this means for policy.
WERD is run as an outreach programme by the Department of Economics, Oxford University to inspire the study of economics and share 'What Economists Really Do'. If you have been inspired and are considering studying economics, the Department also run a series of Spring and Summer Schools to help prepare students for graduate study in economics.
