The Ecto-1 from the 2011 fan film "The Real Ghostbusters" has been brought back to life. Check out how! CHECK OUT MY GHOSTBUSTERS MOVIE: • The Real Ghostbusters ...
You are just amazing for this! I'm so freaking jealous lol 😆 but proud you got it out to be ready for Ghostbusters Afterlife!! You seriously have a car that can change ya life even more now lol
Congratulations Clint and I hope you and your family have a great Halloween!! This just really makes me wish I had an Ectomobile of my own right now, but hey I’ll keep working at it and someday I’ll have one. Btw, I have been searching for ambulances and hearses through every website and old listings. And I’ve picked up a good tip; Look for listings that have the owner’s phone number, that way you can know if the vehicle is still for sale (if not then you get to hear a good story) or more importantly know if the owner is a collector of said vehicles. Believe it or not I have found a few fellas who collect ambulances and hearses for a living. So when I’m financially and mentally ready, I know who to go to.
Hey, that's awesome! Yeah - I may have told you this already, but the only advice I've got is keep looking. I search at least once a week on several different sites. The '60 M&M we found is something that popped up in our recommended listings on Facebook. My dad saw it -- we share a work Facebook. It was listed as "Chevrolet Ambulance." My dad was like.... "Uh.... You're not busy tomorrow, are you?" It was like winning the lottery. I can't tell you how long I've been looking for that car. Twenty years plus, man.
@@unfinishedstudios Do it with just a real shitty attitude with, like, a fake mustache on and talk about your screen accurate pack and how you don't actually own an echo but when you do yours it'll be better.
I’m proud of you ! I admire others who follow such passion for film . I’ve got a 73 delta like ash drives in evil dead . Been getting it screen accurate and restored . My advice is just consider how happy other people are when they get excited for your car . With mine o love talking evil dead at gas pumps but if gear heads approach I just tell them my problems I’m currently working on . They either give me leads or answers or don’t know and decide close conversation down . Glad to see you ha ing fun and keeping the car alive .
Hey that's awesome! I'm a big Evil Dead fan, too. I've been working on a video about the original cabin. I have a brick from the fireplace sitting on my office shelf!
@@unfinishedstudios no way ! You made the pilgrimage ! You are a kindred spirit . I got a brick as well I use it mostly to hold pumpkin or fall candles by window during monster movie nights usually . We both seem of similar mind sets we collect or do for ourselves first if people recognize great but not show boating less it’s a special occasion like release of new movie . My proudest moment with my delta who I named Linda after Ash’s girlfriend , was taking it to Knoxville Horror Film fest 2020 held at drive in when they showed Evil Dead 2 . I do totally get the frustration . Your car way more of an attention getter . I get slightly annoyed just by normal car people wanting to talk at gas stations while filling up . Have you had trouble locating or repairing OE parts on either of your Caddy’s ? I’m fighting some rust issues that prior owner just painted over . Not sure if I will buy new fenders or have a body guy rework . Any tips or advice are welcome and maybe make a video on some of this if spirit moves you . I think many movie car guys give up due to locating parts or not finding mechanics who know how to work on them . Cheers and hope you had a happy Thanksgiving !
@@unfinishedstudios One more thing I always tell people a 59 meteor ecto 1 would be my dream car to own / build but then say the parts must be near impossible given how few were made . Then I say 58 Plymouth fury ( Christine ) as a close second . Impressed with your current Ecto 1 and I’m sure many like me wish you well on the 59 ecto project .
@@gcaplan1 Appreciate it! Your car sounds awesome. I wanted one of those when I was in high school. Had a 4-door 1970 Galaxie that I would try to put in all my movies like Sam Raimi. Depending on who you're talking to, you can tell them it's an Ash car, an Uncle Ben Car, or something from about a thousand other Raimi movies. We had to put new gas tanks in both the '65 and '65 Caddies. Those were sort of difficult to locate. The commercial chassis differs from a regular Cadillac with odd parts. Like the master cylinder is different, and one-year-only on a '64. That held us back a bit. Got some '59 fenders we're going to put on the '60 we have. I was literally just talking to my dad about them. I think we're gonna just try and take them to a body shop instead of fixing the dents. I think it depends on how rare something is that you have. I think it'd be pretty hard to find '73 Olds body parts, so taking stuff to a pro might be the best bet, even if it's a little pricier. I dunno.
@@unfinishedstudios not sure yet I’ve seen fenders before on eBay think I can locate some for mine but may get estimates to repair with a body guy and compare . Belt mounding strips on sides for mine have been very difficult to locate 2 years searching online and calling junkyards across the country and nothing exact . My fuel tank was good I think the mud it was caked under when I bought it protected it 😆 . Did have to replace gaskets , sending unit and fuel hoses and straps holding the tank . Frequently I think on Ray’s speech detailing the laundry list of things that needs to be done . End of the day when others see it virtually no one will notice the flaws that drive you the most mad . They are just happy to see a cool car . I figure I will always be tinkering or hunting some parts but there’s other things I’m content with as is that are not exact to the movies . My rule is it has to remain fun if it’s more work than fun it’s time to step away for a while or sell . I assume you have the Haynes Ecto 1 manual . Is that a legit manual for changing brakes and belts etc or is it just getting thing like the light rack , proton pack holders etc ?
Hello there that power supply to the front led strobes if you put a meter on it is just five volts won’t fire those 12 volt ones. To get that alternating effect go find the flasher off a school bus for the top lights they send the 12 volts you need and you will get the side to side effect. They are very rugged made to operate 4 sealed beams at once and they do not change the flash rate regardless of the load put on them .
Y'know owning a 1958 Edsel myself, I wont lie at 41 seconds in I expected a trail of smoke ala the start of GB2. Lord knows mine was spewing out just as much the first time I turned that ol' V8 over! XD
@@unfinishedstudios I knowww and just to think I just turned 19 the project is about as old as me😂 but the question is... Is she ready for a second movie 10 years later?🤔
Nice! It looks decently close to the real one! Those strobes look like they would be a pain to mount up and look like they should. Hey, the one tag says "Georgia". How far from Valdosta? Should I be looking to catch a glimpse?
I do have a suggestion for the roof why not have the sniffer and the rad dome move because in the intro from gb 2 if you watch the ecto 1 roof you can see those two actually move and that's because if the first film you can see the sniffer move in different directions throughout the film
The sniffer can't. It's welded in place. It's freakin' heavy, and I'd be too afraid it would come loose and fall off going down the highway. I don't think they really had to worry about that when they made the movie because it wasn't a long-term thing. The radome on our car is built to move, I just didn't have time to get that working for Halloween. It's on my list. I'm thinking of mounting a wiper motor behind it.
The original strobes were airplane strobes. You are probably going to need a legit power supply depending on what type of voltage you are running on the strobes high voltage strobes usually run off 24v-48v which just running off your car battery will not give you near enough juice to produce what you want. Good luck on the build and an awesome Ecto!!!!
@1:33 dont take this the wrong way homie.... but why not shift to neutral and get a couple well fed gents to help you push it out to get on the rollback? I will stop sweatin your technique tho... still is awesome to see this. Cheers fam!
It's a commercial one, and it sits really low. My dad's worried about speed bumps, but it's not that bad. We already had to buy the exact same tank for the Ecto-1A car.
@@unfinishedstudios ha! I had a feeling that it was special commercial chassis version! Just proof that because nether of them are '59s, doesn't mean that their going to be inexpensive let alone easy to find...
@@unfinishedstudios although speaking of GB, funny how this k-pop video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wU7ZmbUs9Zo.html has a reference in it towards the end and you'd think that the films wouldn't be popular in Korea...
@@aussiefurbymogwaifan6621 Oh yeah - You get screwed with a commercial chassis. A bunch of the brake parts are commercial-only. The master cylinder for the '64 was extremely tough to find. We have a few junk '59's, and I spent a whole day pulling a gas tank off a really rusty one for the '60, and it didn't fit.
I'm in Athens. My parents live in Barrow County. We keep the Ecto on his insurance because he's got about 30 cars on his policy and it costs basically nothing to insure.
