It’s always fun to see a new watch and watch brand (to me), but to see one with a gorgeous world timer is even nicer. I’ll be interested in what you think.

Thanks again for what you do. I like titanium watches but I am wring to tell you about Eduard Koehn. There were two Ed Koehn's, a father and a son, who manufactured very fine watches. Eduard Koehn Sr was a partner at Patek Philippe, left and bought out the H. R. Ekegren watch company. Ekegren was a very fine maker and the buy out seems to have been very friendly. The two competed against each other at the Geneva time trials. Ed Koehn Jr was apprenticed to Ekegren. They branded some of their best stuff as Ekegren by Koehn and most of it is fabulous. Among us old pocket watch collectors Koehn watches are highly regarded. If you want read about them they are mentioned prominently in Chamberlains "It's About Time". My view is that the new Koehn is very nice but a notch or two below an original Ed. Koehn

Ouch, Doc Jon! Not up to dad's quality? ... 😬harsh. I was impressed by the complication with both the world timer and alarm system. Take care, Bill

No, Ed Jr was up to his Dad''s quality but Ed Jr was done by World War II. These people are a new bunch who evidently bought the rights to the name, perhaps great grand children. All Koehn stuff at several grades was comparable to Patek Philippe at similar grade levels, not quite at PP, but very close. Old names seem to be resurfacing. Ekegren was used by Oscar Waldan.

Looks like a marriage between Omega Aqua Terra Worldtimer & JLC Master Memovox. Btw, Concepto makes the B25 for Breitling Datora (chronograph and full calendar), which is a modified Valjoux 7750. On that movement, they use a c shaped screw regulator.

Interesting video Bill, I'm sure whoever sent the watch in really respects your opinion, as do most, if not all of us. The watch seems very nice and somewhat reasonably priced. I'm not a fan of green but there seems to be no shortage of color choice. The size is within my "sweet spot", with the exception of the height, 14.5mm is a little too chunky for me. For the time being I think I'll stick with my Monblanc Star World-Time GMT. Best regards, Brian

Brian, what's with you and Michael not liking green? My favorite color! (You two have no sense of envy nor jealousy!) I'd stick with the Monblanc if I had one, too. Take care, Bill

Love the alarm functionality on a world timer; a very clever and useful complication. Aside from the green shade, the watch looks beautiful. Give me a purple or red version and I could see it on my wrist!

@@watchartsci And if that’s your favorite color the. Go with what you love! As I know you do! I think I personally have hit peak green. I enjoy the few green dial pieces I have, and for some reason I now seem to be smitten by Red!!! Where o where is Lyrique No2!! 😃

Love the dial. Very unique to see a worldtimer alarm watch. This video gave me the inspiration to source ceramic ballbearings for my custom 2892A2 build.

I really like that an overseas timing function and alarm function have been combined, I think that's a useful combination. Seems expensive though for a brand that may have had a master watchmaker a hundred years ago but now outsources a movement that has a strong architectural resemblance to the Schild AS1931 with an AS2 lever regulator as you noted.
@watchartsci

It's called a 'lever regulator,' JB? Where is the lever? Thanks for the reference to the Schild AS1931. Take care, Bill

Bill, I thought you had that LV worldtimer... Matter of fact, I saw one for sale on an auction site and immediately thought that the only person that I knew who discussed or owned that watch was you. And the price point for which it was sold surprised me. What happened to it?

I’d be interested to know the reasoning behind placing the country ring on the inside, rather than the outside, of the 24 hour ring. Surely it would make more sense to place the countries on the outside of the 24 hour ring so that there’s more space for the text. Compare, for instance, the JLC Geophysic Universal Time and the Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle World Time. The JLC is much more legible than the Vacheron.
@EdouardKoehn
@EdouardKoehn 10 месяцев назад
This is not just a Worldtimer, there is an alarm function too which is indicated by the red-arrow hand. The outer scale on the dial will enable you to set your alarm time more precisely with the crown at 4 o'clock position. The local time with hour, minute and seconds hands are operated by the crown at 2 o'clock. The 24-hour time zones appear on the central disc which makes a complete revolution in 24 hours. For engineering reasons we had to position the central disc in the center of the dial. Edouard Koehn Master Watchmaker, Switzerland

When I reviewed the World Heritage II, I looked at it, wore and tested it a good deal. It was not only highly legible, it included the alarm that was easy to read and set. Not sure why you compared the JLC with the VC, Karpmonthou.🤔 The two you compared are nice watches, but they don't make either one anymore, and the pre-owned ones costs twice as much as the E. Koehn World Heritage II, brand new. I like and own both JLC and VC watches, but try and keep comparisons the the reviewed watch a little more pertinent. Thanks, man. Take care, Bill
@karpmonthou2177
@karpmonthou2177 10 месяцев назад
My bad. I mentioned the VC because it was the only other watch I could immediately think of with the countries on the inner ring. Further, if such an expensive watch made the same design choice, I figured that maybe it was a design choice and not necessarily an engineering choice. As for the JLC, first, I knew that you’d be familiar with it, having mentioned it in another video. Second, as I recall, dial-wise it’s quite close to the VC. The only significant difference being the respective placement of the 24 hour and country rings, I thought this comparison was appropriate to make the legibility point. @@watchartsci
