Why would the propagation speed change when those waves are always propagating through the same medium? I guess if you used a bigger sample size and employed statistics to improve the resolution/reduce the uncertainty for the velocity, you may observe a slight change in speed between streched and nonstreched nerves. But I don't understand its relevance. From the voltage decay between both points I guess you can directly obtain the lenght constant. Not sure about how to proceed further towards the time constant, maybe using the difference in slew rate between both channels on a specific edge? Amazing stuff!

I think this actually supports the first hypothesis. The time delay is the only variable that we need to reach to our conclusion. The velocity should stay the same in both hypothesis its the. From my understanding it's the reaction-to-an-action velocity. In fact you did it so accurate that it almost hit a fine constant tangent measure.

Cool experiment! But I didn't understand why the results were unclear. They seem to clearly support the "phone cord" hypothesis. The delay is longer because the distance is longer; the velocity is constant. This suggests that the diameter didn't change. Am I missing something?

This is basically the results you would get by not stretching the worm but putting the needles further appart. Maybe when you stretch the worm you don't stretch the nerve inside. Your needles might slide along the nerve, so it's like you simply measure a nerve at difference distances.
