I wish, sincerely, that I could get to Dallas. I'd definitely check out the museum. I had plenty of eight tracks in the late 70s and early 80s. Unfortunately, I no longer have them. I'll sleep better tonight knowing that "no track will be left behind." Cool stuff.
Bucks, this is beyond cool! At Navy Radioman school a classmate had 8 Tracks of "Closer to Home", "Tommy"& "Jesus Christ, Superstar" he played constantly. Was many years later before I could listen to any of them again. Thanks for sharing this with all of us. :)

cool brother......but why did I always have to fold up a book of matches and stuff it between the player and tape to make them play right after awhile ?
I basically did the same with my JVC 1526 recorder. Stuff a piece of velcro in the cartridge opening so that I could hear the high frequencies and left channel. Such a bullshit format 🙄 but yet it still's with us and playin tunes on route 66...
are there very great quality sounding 8 track tapes. i dont know. my uncle had an old dodge dart and an old dodge van, they wanted to rent it from him for Silence of the Lambs! but, the only time i ever heard an 8 track was in that van in 1987, i cant remember the quality, because i was 13. is it better than a record?
@overdriven77 - I'm a 17-year-old American, and I've only ever seen one 8-track cartridge IRL, and I've never seen anything that plays them. I've heard, though, that they're pretty much the worst audio format. If you want the best quality, go with vinyl. Cassette tapes are pretty good as well.
Remember my early eBay days, when I got into "tracking".... I had White Light/White Heat, Zappa's Lumpy Gravy, I even had a PORNO 8 track. I shit you not!
Well, record companies didn't exactly make 8-tracks. After the LP was done, a tape Mfg company like Ampex or such was sent a master to make the tape cartridge from. I can remember that the LP was always out before the 8-Track was available by a month or so. Most major tape Mfg companies stopped producing 8-Track cartridges around 1981/1982. However, Record Clubs like Columbia House continued to offer 8-tracks well into 1988. Fleetwood Mac's Greatest Hits was actually issued on 8-Track through Columbia House. Honestly, the Cassette by 1982/1983 was light years better then an 8-Track as quality had gotten so bad...
***** Yup, I had a friend that actually had Fleetwood Mac's Greatest Hits on 8-Track from Columbia House. He was a hold out that would not move to Cassette. Had the really, really nice AKAI player that had adjustable tracking. By '88, the tapes were really bad, seemed pointless they were still making them.

I have a Beatles 8 track he doesn't have... A UK Beatles For Sale. I do live in the UK (I should probably out) although they are very scarce over here as they were nowhere near as popular as cassettes... :(
What???What happened to the Beatles 8Track collection??? Did the owner die? Where did all the 8Tracks and memorabilia go to???? Omg ! Nooooooo No 8Track was suppose to be left behind.????
