I’m so glad that you all are now reviewing BLs because I really enjoyed my time with y’all during Boys Planet, but after episode 3 I was not feeling Fantasy Boys and thought that was the end of the road. My girlfriend and I watch BLs together, and we are obsessed! Yes I know it is a shocker lesbians love BL too! We out here! I now prefer Asian BLs to GLs or straight rom coms and dramas. I get in my head too much to enjoy straight or even lesbian western media. I start thinking too much about toxic stuff, unrealistic lesbian relationships and unrealistic racial dynamics. I can turn off my brain more completely, enjoy the plot, great chemistry, beautiful men, and the spice when I don’t see myself in the characters, plot or world.

I hope you guys watch “I Told The Sunset About You” if you haven’t seen it yet. It has both amazing chemistry and an amazing plot (the actors were best friends for years before filming the show). It’s also has a very natural/indie feel and so many beautifully filmed shots Eighth sense is so good too I’m excited for you guys to ge to the later episodes

This drama is soooooo damn good! They really fed us well with good cinematography and amazing acting!

In korea, the countryside can mean a city, and even if you truly live in a village away from the city and city is almost certainly just a bus ride away. :) so getting something like a vape would not be hard.

Jihyun and Jaewon are two people desperately needing or seeking change for v different reasons in v different ways, Jaewon just seems immediately captivated. and ultimately you can sum up episode 1 like this: Jihyun: existing Jaewon and his eyes:😶😶😘😶😶 Jihyun: Bet

I totally agree with you on the Korean drinking culture! I lived in Korea for almost 5 years, and when I tell you that Korea is a country that never sleeps…New York and Las Vegas don’t even know 😂! I even heard once that per capita or per the amount of people within the country, Korea drinks the most alcohol out of any country

Loved this episode! Wanted to correct two things that were said idk if anyone will see this: 1) the ahjumma lady with the accent is speaking in jeolla do saturi, which means she was likely born and raised in Jeolla province. While Busan and Daegu are big cities, they're not actual provinces. You can think of a province similar to state if it helps! Jihyun might be from Jeolla-do but he speaks in standard Korean so I don't think Jaewon is finding him cute because if his accent. Anyways i love your reactions to this so much and it's encouraged me to watch the show fully! I love BLs as well so I'm so happy to finally see you guys cover them. Can't wait for episode 2!!!! 2) In Korea, tuition does not pay for food as part of the tuition fee just for attending classes. Some colleges have meal plans, and some schools (like Yonsei University) have dining halls with no meal plans where students pay out of pocket. Korea has compulsory healthcare laws so all students must have their own healthcare plans, however the cost of healthcare, food, and tuition is much cheaper compared to tuition prices in the states, so meals do not cost very much.

I did an exchange program at a korean university and (at least for international students) the food wasn’t included. They just have a few cafeterias around campus but you still have to pay for your individual meal. I looked it up and some schools have meal plans too. I do remember the meals were really cheap.

If you want a different country and different genre I think you would really like My School President - a Thai BL. I'm usually not the biggest fan of Thai BLs because they can be really badly written, over-sexual when not necessary and cringy. But MSP was just so much fun and the two main characters were so enjoyable. The banter was funny and the friendship group was like a found family. I cried so hard when the show ended, but not because it was sad. I just got attached to the characters, I didn't wanna let them go. Highly recommend if you like musicals, funny, cute, highschool romance 💗

i watched ep1&2 like three days ago and then i was planning to do two a day, but i ended up watching 3-10 in one night like i was hooked 😵‍💫 i went to bed at 5am like this bl is so good

The whole time I was watching your Boys Planet videos I kept thinking that I would DIE for BL reactions/recap/reviews, and now I've clawed my way out of the grave for this. Y'all are hilarious and I love your insights, even if I don't get most of the musical theater references lol. If you circle back to Korea, I'd love you to do an episode covering a few of the shorter bl web series, maybe touch on the ones you've seen or do a ranking of them. I'd love you to try a Filippino or Taiwanese BL next, they just hit different. Phillippines likely bc their BL industry took off during lockdown, so they kind of invented a while subgenre of quarantine BLs. Gameboys is definitely the peak, both seasons are soooo good. Like In The Movies is a very close 2nd tho. Maybe bc it's a catholic country and the homophobia is generally rooted in colonization, the representation of queer issues feels a bit more familiar. Taiwan on the other hand is the only asian country with fully legalized gay marriage, and had a thriving queer cinema scene well before BL became its own genre, so it's BLs can be a lot more grounded in the real LGBTQ+ community even if the story is fluffy and fantastical. About Youth is adorable, as is My Tooth Your Love and Plus & Minus. I don't know what Thai BLs you've seen, but there is such a variety that you'll have no trouble bouncing around to different genres/vibes. I'm particularly fond of You're My Sky, Ghost Host Ghost House, Not Me, Moonlight Chicken, Dear Doctor I'm Coming For Soul, Don't Say No. I suspect your tolerance for cringe his high so you might survive Secret Crush On You. Thailand also has some short and sweet ones like Ingredients, Second Chance, the En Of Love anthology, Y-Destiny. Oh, and since you're theater girlies, you might love 180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us, which many say is more of a queer indie series than a BL and feels more like a stage play than a traditional drama.

Oooh yes I'm so looking forward to your commentary of the eighth sense ❤ I already annoyed all my friends with this drama and they still won't watch it (I guess I need new friends) I feel like my favorite 15 min BL so far was our dating sim, exactly because the premise and plot were so simple, they didn't waste time with filler and also 🌠 chemistry.

It’s so funny listening to people on the other side of the world talk about Korean drinking culture on TV. It sounds wild but people will seriously drink 12 bottles of Soju on a Tuesday, stay out until 6am, and just go to work the next day. You can even walk past someone passed out in those plastic chairs in front of a convenience store at 8am on your way to work. And after working in Korea for a couple of years… I understand 😂 But yes- they are staying out until 6-7am. At a minimum 5am because that’s the first train/bus. Taxis are hard to come by between 3-5am.

I'm so excited to watch along with you guys! This was on my list, but you guys covering it just made me want to watch it sooner. The show is so atmospheric, there's just something about seaside stories or ones heavily involving a body of water. The intro was giving 2000s teen drama too. Overall this first episode felt very natural and the characters felt real, especially the moment at the restaurant when the friend invited the ex and they were just both awkward. P.S. I like the K-drama ending y'all did

i love you guys so much. i discovered yall through your his man 2 recaps a couple days ago and i binged the eighth sense just so i can listen to your recaps because yall are just so much fun to listen to!! 💞 id like to make a few recommendations~ first one being i told sunset about you. its a beautiful thai bl. the cinematography and storytelling of the show is hands down the best ive ever seen in a bl. the actors are absolutely amazing as well. and if youre ever looking for a short but achingly sweet japanese bl then i recommend old fashioned cupcake as well. theyre relatively aged up characters compared to a lot of other bls and i enjoyed that aspect of it as well. i dont know how much fun itll be to recap bc its more slice of life but you can even just watch it in your own time. its really sweet. 🧁 i told sunset about you and old fashioned cupcake are my absolute faves. both of them are gems in my eyes! i also enjoyed bad buddy - another thai bl. its rly fun and cute and just generally a good time. i saw that you guys are watching cherry magic rn so thats why i didn't add it in else i wouldve!! 💗 edit: have you guys watched the chinese wuxia dramas?? like the untamed and especially word of honor? like theres no way you guys havent gotten to those right 👀 i feel like yall would have an absolute blast with word of honor. its not explicitly bl bc of censorship but still really worth it. super long shows though.
