I've beaten Messmer in about 40 minutes and he is surely one of my favorite fights of all time. I was so disappointed when he died so fast. Once you start playing for stance breaks, he instantly becomes really easy. I only wish he had a little bit more hp so his phases lasted a bit longer
As someone who was kinda spoiled on the dlc boss early, I spent most of the playthrough in a Starscourge build with the greatswords, armor, and a couple gravity spells. I also did use summons, but only because I decided my first playthrough should be NG+7, cause I’m a glutton for punishment. In terms of personal skill level, I have Malenia memorized down to a T, and slap her first try solo on every journey. My personal rankings for the remembrance bosses would be as follows: 1. Radahn-S 2. Messmer-S 3. Rellana-A 4. Romina-A 5. Midra-A 6. Metyr-B 7. Dancing Lion-B 8. Bayle-C 9. Avatar-C 10. Gaius-F The final boss of every dlc is always meant to be the hardest challenge you’ve ever faced, forcing you to play near perfect to overcome that obstacle. I didn’t really find Radahn’s second phase to be that unfair, just very difficult to learn, which it should be. He’s actually the only dlc boss that forced me to rethink my build and my approach. The buildup, lore, reveal, arena, atmosphere, soundtrack, literally everything about the fight is perfect. And the meteor dive at 25% is actually easy, he dives at the location you were when he jumped, so when he starts up, just immediately run like you would with the t-pose AoE and you’ll be fine. I’ll admit that Bayle is super cool aesthetically, and the buildup is awesome. The problem is that dragon fights are always ass mechanically for melee builds because of the camera. You either get whiplash from being locked on, or you don’t see attacks coming because you’re free aiming. It’s really no different with Bayle. While he’s not as egregious as most dragon fights, he doesn’t fix the main camera issues like Placidusax does, and because of that, Bayle became an unbearable mess for me. I literally only won because I got lucky. Gaius is just ass. Janky hitboxes, janky camera whiplash, almost zero attack windows between his combos, and Torrent actively makes the fight worse. There’s also zero buildup, and his only lore is that he’s an Albinauric who trained with Radahn. A nothing character with a crappy fight. He’s the only boss in the dlc I felt shouldn’t have existed, and he’s also the only boss with zero relevance.
Midra C tier is a hot take. Apart from Messmer, I think it's the best fight. Fair, fun and sound mechanically. Bayle can kiss my ass, another tedious dragon fight with a shit camera.
@@ElementBruv there is not a "ur fight him wrong", you fight him or you dont, if in the fight you can go and attack her legs, but the camera is shit, is problem of the fight, not my way of fighting him. And in my case was extremely easy fight, but tedious like all of the dragons fights in the game.
Messmer has 9000 more hp than rellana so I’m not really sure what you mean about rellana having a huge health pool. I thought he was way harder, 40 minutes is super fast.
You’re the first person I’ve seen put gaius over midra. What did you enjoy about the gaius fight more than midra? I personally thought Gaius was one of the worst fights in the dlc but glad to hear someone enjoyed it.
@@StevePalpy i think you miss read. i absolutely despise gaius, even more than godskin duo and firegiant. I hate him with a passion. Boring fight and design. not to mention the dogshit hitboxes
@@Blackblade-NeX Oh yeah, my bad! sorry about that. Commented before watching the actual video and didn’t realize you were talking about Timpact’s take. He is the only one I know that likes Gaius more than Midra.
