The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion [

Welcome to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion! In this playthrough we will be playing through the main story of the core game and major DLC, dabbling in guild quests, and trying to touch on, and use as many mechanics as are present in the game as possible.
We will be playing the same character as in TES: Arena, TES2: Daggerfall and TES3: Morrowind Alexis the Nightblade. Gameplay style will be sneaky with a heavy use of magic for maximum sneakiness.
This is a fairly blind playthrough, and so I will be pretty terrible to start.

0:24: I'm so happy you're alive! 1:56: You could use a Sigil Stone like that for a longer Daedric blade like a Shortsword or a Longsword, or another Daedric Bow as the enchantment on your current one does 10 points less damage. There are also 2 even stronger weapon materials available, but you'll have to find those out for yourself. 7:25: Yeah, the entire place is kind of underwhelming IMO. 9:22: By placing on the Cowl, you have assumed the identity of the Grey Fox, thereby inheriting the responsibility for all crimes attributed to them. However, as the identity of the Grey Fox is now separate from its wearer due to the lifting of the curse, all bounties that _would be attributed to you_ in normal gameplay are *instead attributed to the Grey Fox* . This means that, should you ever want to engage in thievery, all you need to do is slip on the Cowl, commit your crimes, and then slip it off to suffer *zero consequences* from your actions! (11:26: Great, looks like you've figured it out!) 12:49: That's what you got done, and now he serves as the little bitch-boy of the same person he dedicated his life to hunting. It's just so poetic! 15:15: Syndicates? OH MY GOD IS THAT A KAISERREICH REFERENCE!?!?! /s 15:26: Yes, it is. 16:43: I think one of the biggest problems with Oblivion Gates and the Crisis as portrayed in the game is that it is simply not dynamic. Rather than feeling like an invasion and providing a genuine feeling of fear and existential dread, it just feels like a few extra dungeons are spawned that wait for you to clear them out. While the originally planned fully dynamic approach may likely have been impractical and may have led to an unwarranted restriction on player freedom, I feel that several concessions could be made like Daedric forces occupying and transforming sections of wilderness, or strange, wormhole-like changes in the sky representing the gradual breaking of the liminal barriers over time. Skyrim does this a little better with its dragon encounters, but IMO it still feels kind of bland and annoying. 17:05: You're so close to the right area and you don't realize it... Of course, there's nothing in the game to tell you that unless you've exhaustively traversed the area, so I don't blame you. 17:52: The point is supposed to be your own enjoyment. You know, the experience of combat, exploration, and challenge? That sort of thing. /s Dry sarcasm aside, I do admit that it gets samey after a while and that this is a major problem of Oblivion's leveling system, environmental, and level design, though I enjoy the game loop regardless. I remember you said earlier that a reason why you tend not to do many dungeons in this series is because it may be boring to viewers, has this changed at all? I'd be interested to hear more fully what your current thoughts are on the dungeons of the game. 18:23: I'd hazard that you'd feel much less powerful if you didn't rely on your overpowered, game-breaking Chameleon and Invisibility spells to basically pass by the whole game. Still, I think you've shown yourself from the past that the level scaling problems you had back then were avoidable without scientific management. 19:28: Wait for it, in a few more levels Gwen is going to start denying the Katyn Massacre and praising Milosevic. /s 20:37: Oblivion AI at its finest! 21:22: Yes, unfortunately. ;( Also, I'd think something was up if random fireballs started flinging by my face. 22:40: -thats not how it works- By the power of Hermaeus Mora, you saw nothing! 22:58: You could get more Magicka instead by boosting Intelligence. 25:03: CONGRADULATION! YOU ARE VICTOLY! 25:49: This is true. I find the "hard cap" of the power of Oblivion's skills (and therefore characters) to be considerably lower than that of other games in the series. Advancement beyond a certain point is thus done more "laterally" by doing things like exploiting the game's AI mechanics (as you're doing now) or committing to certain niche gameplay strategies, rather than in breaking the normal barriers of Attribute or Damage caps as in other games in the series (though that's still possible, at least with the former). I think that aside from considering the permanent invisibility exploit and exploits that resist and reflect damage, the most powerful character you can make has to be one with the highest possible base Magicka to exploit and thus the one most capable of casting godly spells. This would be an Altmer Atronach, who would have an innate Magicka pool of 450 at 100 Intelligence, as opposed to your unfortified maximum of 200. 28:44: You don't have a desire to use it and experiment with different gameplay styles? Well, I guess that's hard to do with Oblivion's leveling system. Thankfully, you now have a perfect way to train up skills without being overwhelmed. ;) 29:39: That's a cool roleplaying idea, I could definitely see it. If you like that, then there are some perks and abilities in Skyrim that you'll absolutely love! 30:50: Love your reaction here! I wish there were more Unicorns in the game, though I remember reading that in lore they are so rare that they are thought by most scholars to be mythical. ;( 33:44: LOL. 35:23: This is some gorgeous scenery! 36:00: There actually *is* a Unicorn in Skyrim! It's added as part of an official Creation Club add-on which is by default installed in the Anniversary Edition (the most recent one) of the game. 36:08: I like Unicorns largely because single-horned mammals have evolved multiple times in multiple independent lineages, but *never* among equids. Why, universe, why?! We must right this injustice... 36:29: In Oblivion, the Horse you most recently purchased (or, alternatively, mounted) is by default classified as your mount. It's a little inconvenient, IMO.

100% chamo is very broken indeed. Gray cowl is rather interesting as well.

One thing everyone did in Oblivion that I forgot about now was to make a lightning spell, 1 damage but maximum area of effect. Then cast it in a room without NPC's (but with objects). You should do it too!
