The Electric Trolly System Across Susquehannock Sanctuary: Lancaster PA “Castle”, Oldest Photographs

Howdy ya’ll. Today we will look through over 150 Old World Photographs of Lancaster, PA.
These majority pre-1930 photographs will showcase the advanced architecture, and in this case, the advanced technology of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. About halfway through the video, after discussing the history of Lancaster as the Capital Fort of The Susquehannock, we will begin our deep dive into the seemingly hundreds of unique trolleys which interconnected Lancaster.
Through wilderness, to the Big City, to the smaller towns in Greater Lancaster County, it appears through the early 1900’s we had an adventurous trolley system which helped unite the area.
We will also look at the longest covered bridge in the world (up until that point in history), which was built in Lancaster in 1812. We will help invigorate our research with unique and many unseen photographs of Lancaster. Enjoy!

So much - I have to do a more in-depth analysis as PA is keystone state which is a Q post question that is stuck in my mind! Q(Qanon-2018ish): “What is the KEYSTONE and why is it important?” Also, Shelly at YT channel There’s No Place Like Home and she also is in PA- the keystone state. She believes Appalachian Mtns are mining tailings from Giants… Philadelphia is key as 4 cities in a line (Boston, NYC, and DC 75 meridian? We had the electric Interurban that ran here in Southern Indiana, and ran all the way to Indianapolis, and the tracks are still under the road, back in the day we used to drive on them, and see if we could stay on the tracks! And the cracked roads are reveling the old brick roads!

What a beautiful time to have lived. I'm speaking of the first few seconds of the video. The electrified trolley cars, the trees, the buildings, the social interaction, everyone dressed to the nines and looking fit. Gone are those times.

And they have people thinking that we are at the peak level of technology and we are the smartest generation of humans with the world being the best that it's ever been. Everything was way better but now it's all corrupt back then they had clean energy they were able to harness energy from the atmosphere the buildings were just as beautiful as can be and like you said everyone dressed nice having a good time.

Nothing is ever perfect. Photos only show a snapshot of one aspect of one place at a certain time. I’d like to read actual diaries or perspectives thru the eyes of those who there at that time.

I discovered it quite by accident- those old photos or pictographs that are duplicates side by side- I was staring at one on a larger screen (larger than phone) and my eyes were tired and I thought I was hallucinating, but my eyes almost crossed and the two photos became ONE, and it was an amazingly vivid 3D image! Now I see the purpose of these !

Trolleys were everywhere in this area. I remember the tracks in the road. My uncles workers in Boyertown PA at a company who built and painted the trolley cars. It's sad trolleys aren't used anymore

Can you please try and find these Huge Generator houses 🏘.. Where the Power was made . Jon Levi once showed a Grand Government style (today) building with all the fountains out front leading down along the leyline off into the distance where you could see the city... That is still the only real example and it wasnt very long. If Possible. Before I forget it, that wagon was used because of the way it was shaped having the curved bottom made it easier to get across ford's in the rivers, it would float where a flat bottom would sink.

Wait til you see photos of the Sioux City L train line that opened in 1889, 3 years before the first L train line opened in Chicago. Both opened with steam locomotives pulling the wooden trains.

The mound builder history fascinates me. I live in Ohio and was recently enlightened on how many mounds in our state were simply bulldozed over during the industrial revolution. Many sites were saved, but most were lost to building of cities, towns, and roads.

Where I grew up in South Central PA. I lived within walking distance of Pen Mar Park MD. Before my time there was a trolley from the town of Waynesboro up to Pen Mar. There also use to be huge beautiful hotels around Pen Mar and Blue Ridge Summit Pa. I remember a foundation for a swimming pool that was in the woods to an old hotel. Most " burnt down ". There's also Ft. Ritchie ( former army base ) that is very castle like. My grandpa was a Col. And base commander there in the past.

Great to see a picture of Ephrata where I was born in 1943. As a little boy my parents and I took the trolley to Rocky Springs. My last job was working for the County as a caseworker, first out of the old Alms House on East King Street, and then downtown in the new County Government building. They say that the Fulton Opera House is still haunted. I remember taking a child for treatment at a hospital which once was St. Joseph's Hospital. Amazing video!

I’m in York haven, there was a trolley here as well I believe it led to a park at the end here in York haven, not much a visiting place nowadays, and in Hanover where I lived was an old trolly lots of locals here Jared we should do a local group study!? Also have you heard of the book history of York county it’s an old published book and is a rarity in the study of that time period being as extensive as it is and I think there is a sister book that shows the art in architecture York PA

I actually just helped an elderly couple move from Strasburg to Newport pa. Never had been to Lancaster much surprisingly considering I grew up just opposite the river on west shore, york/Cumberland county. It is an absolutely beautiful area.

Another excellent video. Interesting at 34:30 with the collapsed covered bridge. On either side of it are 2 small houses completely untouched.🤔 Looking around that area on google maps, just to the north of the remains of the covered bridge is a beautiful old train bridge. Must be from a much earlier time.

My grandfather told me about all the trolley lines that ran through central PA through Punxsutawney, Johnstown, Altoona, Dubois, Reynoldsville, and surrounding towns. He said they took them.

I was born in Lancaster in 1950 and grew up in Chester Co near Pine grove. My dad as a kid rode the trolley that ran through Christiana to Atglen. . It use what is rt372 across Octoraro creek and under the Low Grade RR in the middle of the road. I can remember going to the big Dept Store at the square in Lancaster. Watt and Chan I believe was the name. Some trolley lines built amusement parks at the end of their lines. Rocky Springs was such a Park, went there back in the 1960s for my Sunday School picnics.

Bro, you may have checked out the hopewell iron furnace but, if not, that’s a very interesting study related to this video☝🏽..also boxcar rocks(megalithic prehistoric wall) and Swatara iron furnace nearby. I have a couple videos of "Boxcar Rocks" on my channel titled Rocky Walk 1, and "...2. I've explored the area extensively. I think the conglomerate "wall" is the result of an ancient flood millions of years ago creating the pebbles and slurry, then the material that resulted in coal on the immediate north side was grown, covered, and compressed. After which the tectonic upheaval left these layers vertical. There are fossilized lepidodendron trees on the sides of the coal seams that are 20 feet long. Pretty sure Randell Carlson would agree...and he's a real dude bro.

Floods or glaciers would have created the aggregate spread out on a horizontal plain that was buried in successive strata and compressed, just like the coal on top of it eventually. Then, through the process of upheaval caused by plate tectonics, these horizontal layers were pressed upward forming the mountains within which this conglomerate layer penetrates deep into the earth exposed at the many waterways. The seam of coal is evidence that the once vegetative swampland was compressed and pressed to it's vertical state. As to the breaks in the formation itself you must understand that this was caused by millennia of tectonic upheaval including series of earthquakes. I have walked miles of this formation many times and this is what I see. Thanks for the gymnastics exercise as I am retired.

That’s not how gravity works. The kilns and furnaces are also easily natural by this explanation..over millions of years those stone blocks just fell into place vertically from flooding, erosion,and gravity. Wake up! Also there appears to be a destroyed amphitheater on the trail side of boxcar rocks and immediately across the wall from that is what can best be described as an entry control point..which prevents direct passage through the wall uphill. Maybe look into the mounds and other stone/concrete ruins around the country and then revisit the site.

Wasn't Lancaster so cool back in the day? My favorite store was Watt & Shands and my grandmother used to work downtown beside the old cafeteria as a tailor for men's suits. Remember when Lime Street had a sink hole a few years ago and it was quickly covered up because you could get down into old parts of the city? I always wanted to go to LCP as a kid cuz I thought it was a real castle 😂 I didn't realize the history 😳 Aahh yes, the courthouse and it's copper dome... It's phalice is right down the street at the square. The monument for the soldiers. Thanks for sharing ❤️

There is no way "covered wagons" conquered the west. They never made the Oregon trail (those so called "wagon wheel ruts" can be found all over our realm).They would have been highly impractical for rugged terrain, in my humble opinion. Thank you for you dedication to the Truth.

These trolley systems were once worldwide. Its too coincidental to be a coicidence that they look the sam as ones in a small town in the middle of the amazon. I live in the UK and lancasters square may as well be a square in london as they're identical buildings, topped with their 'harmoniser tec' flag posts. The truth be known, the susquehannock probably inherited this infrastructure from earlier settlers. I can understand fashionable architecture in todays instant world of internet and how buildings can look the same, but not back then.

Great video of my hometown. Lovely to see the square when it was still as originally built. If you are looking for ideas, I would love to see pictures of the old reservoir between King and Orange streets. I lived on King street just across from reservoir park. It hadn't been filled in and a park for all that long before I moved there, but I never saw the reservoir. Just before I left Lancaster, a massive sinkhole opened up in the middle of the park. I guess some of the fill had rotted away. I never saw how they fixed it. There were two lovely old fountains around the park, and I'm sure they were there when the reservoir was there, but I have no idea what they looked like in the context of the reservoir. There was the Blanche Newman lion on the King Street side, and there was another little one across from the prison, which I never saw filled. Looking at google map, it looks like it is still there.

Did you know we also had trolley's in Somerset county Pa at this same time my mother told me about them..the tracks were still in my hometown until they were blacktopped over when I was a kid

Its also interesting to me that many people in the area still have the same type dialect when speaking. Its dying out, but typically in areas where it's more isolated, people speak very throaty, move lips very little and words tend to run together. It's an interesting dialect/accent. I dont believe all the natives where wiped out. More like taken and adopted into families. I could be wrong. But they werent all eurasian looking. Some where white. Some darker. But sheckalemi * ? Who was part of tribe was white, said to be taken in by tribe as baby. Who knows what the true make up was. Possible multi race culture

I live in scranton pa. This place is older then hell. The building that is my shop has a company name painted on it that must be over 100yrs old i couldnt find a scrap on it.

This reminds me of the elaborate and incredibly efficient trolley cars that ran through Los Angeles and when the automobile makers and rubber/tire manufacturers were trying to establish their reign they managed to get the entire trolley system dismantled… it’s disgusting how they greedily forced everyone into reliance on cars and created a pollution problem that harmed millions! They took the beautiful old trolley cars and dumped them into the ocean to make a reef for the fish 😒

Interesting seeing photos of the Lancaster trolleys. Thanks for sharing. Apparently they ran from 1890 to 1947, with the final closure on September 20, 1947. Maybe one day in the future, they may return there as light rail.

First I have to say your channel is amazing. Thank you for everything you do. Next, I really think they should of tried to hide things better. They want us to believe that Lancaster got their first electricity in 1886 and by 1890 -1891 one of their first major priorities was to get the large number of primarily Amish hundreds of miles of an electric trolley system. Too many things make no sense going by the official story.

Are the center city statues the same? Right near the big bank down from the city I think it’s Wells Fargo I found a large like marble piece that looks like it’s from an old world building just laying there. It’s near the fountain

I'm from Lancaster, TX. Not Lan-caster. Just like you are from Lancaster PA. Not Lan-caster PA. Lol. Amazingly there are strange anomalies in the area. Mostly underground. I doubt there is even handful that know about it. However, it pales in comparison to your Lancaster. Rock on. Love the content!

I'm so confused but I'm not an electrical engineer... I looked up electric trollies and trains and they said they either have to have an electric wire running over head or a third rail on the tracks that is electrified at super high voltage and it's dangerous to be around. The trollies in this video seem to have neither a wire above them on any of the tracks, or high voltage rails in the ground that are dangerous to people. What's going on here?

I swear man that place is just like Joplin, only Joplin got wiped the rest of the way off the map. There's subways here that nobody really knows about because they've been flooded with the river that they basically diverted down into the underground. Look at the New York Public library center for African American research on the floor to the theater. Is a giant map with Joplin circled in it, with the river running through it.
