Glad y'all are feeling optimistic. Personally, I think I'm done. I understand your point that sometimes in real life, you can love someone but it just doesn't work out. The thing for me is that I like fiction because it's NOT real life, and you can get happy endings like you might not in the real world. I feel like we were teased with William and Eliza for four seasons and the fact that there will (presumably) never be a satisfying pay-off makes me feel cheated. Both their names were in the title, so it's not the same show without both characters.

I love Patrick Nash. I hope they pursue a romance between him and Miss Scarlet. He started out pretty obnoxious, but over the past two seasons, he's always been her biggest fan. Plus, the chemistry between the two of them is off the charts!

Thank you for both of your thoughts on the show and the changes. It makes me kinda mad that both Moses and William aren’t there anymore, it feels like Moses could have helped William out with Eliza, got him to grow and be more of partner than an annoyed older brother. I also liked the way Moses was also a bit of a thorn for William, a good for him thorn. I’m not sold on Nash, but we’ll see. Hopefully Mr.Martin has some interesting prospects coming to him in the future because Rebel Moon was awful. I’m a life long Sci-Fi fan and really wanted to like Rebel Moon but it’s so full of sci-fi cliches and tropes it was painful to watch. Plus Stewart only had a few moments in the movie and managed to remind me of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. Maybe his part in 2 is better? Either way, I’ll miss him and wish he hadn’t left

What’s the point of show without him?

This whole show was a big waste of time. There was some nice romantic tension between Eliza and William in season one. Then they let it fizzle until the end of season 3 where we thought they might get together after Arabella made Duke realize his feelings. But now it's too late. They waited too long and set us up for a big disappointment. We never even got a proper kiss. Just a big kiss goodbye! I would rather at least seen them try for a relationship, fail, but then part as friends than the nothing that actually happened. I suppose Stuart could come back, but I think it's unlikely. Masterpiece needs to learn that they won't necessarily hold onto their stars forever, so get on with the story or fans will be disappointed AGAIN. (Just like Sanditon, Home Fires, and even Downton Abbey when Matthew left.) I'm kind of done with Masterpiece and being let down.

This is frankly really frustrating on Masterpiece's part bc Victoria was left halfway, Dan left Downton Abbey and now this. I'll definitely tune in for the initial episodes to check the tone of the new season (bc Sanditon was a success story) However, I don't think Miss Scarlet is salvageable because we have 4 seasons of William. His replacement has to bring forth Jamie Claire level chemistry for this to work because no way they're getting renewed for 4 more seasons. It'll be hard to undo all that tension & chemistry so I'm not holding my breath. Sigh this is an awful pickle to be in. Never again Masterpiece, never again.

I love William, however, I think Nash is better suited for Eliza. They have so much in common.

I think Eliza can have a romantic relationship with a new character. It doesn't have to be someone she knows. Maybe a character who is attracted to her and pursues her very determinetly. This character would have to love her passion for her work and her independence and trusts her out supports her when needed.

I am so pleased to hear your views. I am excited about next season also and look forward to seeing new adventures for Eliza. I think it was time to move on from the Duke for awhile.
