I'm out in the Forest of Dean in the hope of catch sight of and photograph the elusive Wild Boar. There is evidence of their activity almost everywhere you look in the forest, but finding them to photograph is a different challenge altogether. Can't say I'm a fan of wild hogs,some years back they were in a local wood that skirted a few houses and a golf course, I've no interest in golf but they made a mess of both, but regards to your video magical to see these elusive animals and great for you to pick up a new species, I'm new to your channel but enjoying the content and the enthusiasm you have, thanks Marc👍

Great footage and photos Marc! And of course a great experience too. I went to the FOD and searched for boar, but to not avail… so I’ll definitely need to have another trip up this year for sure.

Great video!!! Having lived in the Forest of Dean all my life you can sometimes take these experiences for granted, but seeing you so excited by your experience just makes me realise how lucky we are to have this on the doorstep.

Superb Marc, it was such a relaxing watch and the sound of bird life all around was amazing, especially the Buzzard mewing and the Sparrowhawk calling, chiffchaffs... Sounds of Spring. Top stuff, not to mention those lovely Wild Boar and the Humbugs were so cute! Yep I said the 'C' word! Always lovely to see the passion and excitement in your voice when you encounter a new species for the first time, also great to see your ethical approach to their welfare when you kept your distance, and you were told they were quite accepting of human presence, you still decided to back aways to give them space. Well done mate, you've got a really nice way of presenting your videos, looking forward to seeing more from you. Keep up the great work. All the best Rich 👍

Another lovely video Marc, well done, I'm off to FOD in the next few weeks to a spot I know, never fail to see them. Agree with your wait-and-see approach, defo the best way. I was at the new Forest the last few days, looking for new locations to film wildlife, and found a couple of massive active badger setts. Always think there should be wild boar there, never seen any signs though.

What a great experience Marc and some fantastic footage of the Humbugs :) Can I ask, do you take the slow mo video footage with your OM1 or something else? or do you slow the video down in post?...I ask as I have the OM1 and slow mo video with manual focus and panning at the same time is not that easy, I manage it for the little I take, but wondered how others do it. Thanks for the video, keep up the good work. Chris

Hi Chris, thanks for the kind words! All the slow mo video is taken with the OM-1. I always shoot at 60fps and then I have the option to use full speed or slow down in post - I use a combination of manual focus and continuous autofocus, as you're probably aware the video AF isn't great in the OM-1...

Here in Germany wild boars are almost everywhere, even in cities. Do you know the animals are not harmless?

Urban wild boar would be great! I've been told they can be aggressive when they have young with them, so better to be safe than sorry ☺️ always worth giving the animals the space that they need
