I just turned 61, I remember when this album was released. Best of my love was the major cut, then this beautiful song, and third was Rejoice. This was and is my favorite song by The Emotions, and one of my favorites by any group ever!

Unbelievably perfect. Some songs I really like but it may have a part I don't like very well. But there is no part to this song that is not perfect. The lead vocals are perfect. The background singing is perfect. I wonder sometimes when a group sings a song like this, are they aware how great the song is. I mean, without having sold one song yet. Another song I consider one of the all time greats is Michael Jackson singing With a child's Heart. His voice is too perfect.
This is one truly great song. The vocals here are flawless as well as the production. You could listen to this song 50 times and still find great harmonies and style. One of my favorites all time.

True story, in Maurice white's book he wrote that the composer of this song wrote this because he's wife wanted a divorce cause she thought he was cheating on her, he said she heard rumors but never ask him.
Listening to these vocals, hearing all the variations in tone, the vibrato, the perfect harmony and timing, all recorded 60 years ago... It blows my mind the talent of these and other amazing artists of the time. It's a real shame that many popular vocals these days are just loud, and overcompressed... completely void of character. This is a masterpiece, a true classic ❤👍🏿👌🏿
I love this music. Takes me back to childhood in the 70's. Me my sister and cousins use to pretend to be the emotions. We would perform their songs for the grown ups in the family, as little girls . I was always the lead of course lol. We knew every word. We loved watching them on Soul Train too. They were beautiful, classy, full of soul and have the voices of Angels! Their music shaped a good part of my childhood. Thank you Queens!
