I think it might also be a reference to the prey caller and how there are human hunters in this map, possibly making the wolf confused. Or deer people!

@@cathouse791 it is a deity from the game Skyrim, hircine's primary form is that of a man with a deer/elk skull as a helmet although sometimes he appears as having a deer/elk head instead of a skull
