We need to address Ben Davidson - what the hell was the game plan?? it was a complete disaster. This was AJ's worst EVER performance. Zero defence and wild swings. There is no point in retiring on that performance. Rematch DD and if it happens again retire. He can make the adjustments but it is all about if DD has taken his soul

I think AJ should retire healthy. He has done very well in boxing and should call it a quit. He has had an incredibly envious career, loved by many and hated by some. What more can you ask for. He should avoid being used as a stepping stone by the younger generation. Credit to DDD. AJ got me worried right from the first round with his wobbly legs. It was so hard to watch. Ref ought to stop the fight earlier than he did. I think he should stop boxing and I mean this in good spirit as a Nigerian. I absolutely agree with everything you have said about AJ and his career as well as his future.

Anthony Joshua's resume is padded and thin; he hasn’t faced many young, current heavyweights, and it showed in his performance against Daniel Dubois. His notable victories came against a series of journeymen and older fighters: he faced Dillian Whyte, who, while tough, was still a journeyman; the soft Dominic Breazeale; Charles Martin and Eric Molina, both of whom were relatively unknown; an aging Carlos Takam; a past-prime Wladimir Klitschko, (with some referee aid) Joseph Parker; an old Alexander Povetkin; and an old Kubrat Pulev, faced Robert Helenius who had fought just two weeks prior, a sparring partner, Otto Wallin, & an MMA fighter. This lack of competition against young, dynamic heavyweights left AJ unprepared for the challenges posed by Dubois. When he finally stepped into the ring with a fresh, aggressive fighter, his shortcomings were clear. It highlighted a missed opportunity for him to truly test himself against the best in their prime, which was crucial for his development as a fighter.

Many people, who followed AJ's ascension to stardom, purposely ignored the fact that Eddie Hearn was protecting him from his mando Ortiz for years, and Ortiz was the only real danger for AJ in the days, when Hearn cunningly lied to Ortiz, that he'll let him fight AJ immediately, if he lets AJ fight Klitschko first, knowing well, that after Klitschko he could continue deceiving him by telling him that the IBF have Pulev to fight him next, while Ortiz had been AJ's mando already for years before the Klitschko fight, and then AJ should've fought Ortiz in New York, but it looks like the team of Ortiz had messed up big time and when Ortiz had found out, that he could fight AJ, he immediately apologized for what his team had done and said to Hearn, that he'll fight AJ even for 5 millions, the the offer was 7, but Hearn still didn't want to give him the fight. He pretended like Ortiz didn't want to fight and he would expose him, when he came back to England, while it would've been much easier to expose him by letting him fight AJ, especially when he claimed, that AJ would knock Ortiz out in three rounds, but at the same time Adam Smith said on some British TV channel, that the real reason for AJ not fighting Ortiz on short notice was, because Ortiz is a dangerous southpaw. That's how they always avoided to fight Ortiz, and that's why they went searching for allegedly easier opposition and found Ruiz, and Ruiz did, what they were afraid of what Ortiz might have done. It was like FINALLY karma caught up with AJ for their constant cheating and lying. AJ once even had personally asked the WBA president to take Ortiz out of the rankings, what was very disgraceful, but it showed, how much they both were scared of him and Hearn even demanded a lifetime ban for Ortiz, when Ortiz decided to fight Wilder and was caught with taking some medicine, which he was actually allowed to take due to his high blood pressure. It was Eddie, who was so scared of Ortiz and did neither want AJ nor Whyte to fight him. He even stopped Whyte once, when he already had decided to fight Ortiz. AJ finally got, what he deserved, because by playing these cunning games Hearn actually had destroyed Luis Ortiz's career. He was from Cuba, didn't speak English and unfortunately wasn't the smartest in promoting himself, but in his prime he seemed to be the best of them all and both Wilder and AJ were scared of him.

The path back to the top is actually very easy on paper. He has a rematch clause. If he wins that and Fury beats Usyk, they'll make the undisputed fight. Whether AJ is capable of beating Dubois is another question (I personally think he'd lose again). So in a perfect (delusional) world, AJ could be undisputed champion in 2 fights
@Ufhhh12
@Ufhhh12 5 дней назад
Even if AJ beat Dubois would most people accept him as the winner of this rivalry and consider him as the top dog in the division? When he came back against Ruiz most people were willing to overlook the 1-1 score as a fluke because he was ko'ing everyone before. But now he already lost 4 time, atleast 2 of them were pretty embarassing losses. I think he would need to rematch dubois and literally destroy him, probably destroy another 2-3 guys like Bakole maybe then. But the reality is just he isnt capable of doing this.

From a mental perspective, I think it’s very unlikely AJ can come back from this defeat against Dubois. However, AJ absolutely has the physical capability of defeating Daniel Dubois and erasing the mistakes he made in this fight, the main one being AJ constantly leaving his left hand low by his chest allowing Dubois to counter AJ with the right hand. Time will tell, but it looks like it’s the end of an era.
@JonBernard41
@JonBernard41 4 дня назад
It wasn’t AJ's confidence that let him down; it was his low boxing IQ. Confidence helps, but in the ring, it’s not enough. AJ had the physical tools but lacked the ability to adapt when things went wrong. Boxing IQ separates the good from the great-it's about reading the opponent and adjusting on the fly. AJ follows a plan, but when it falls apart, he can’t improvise. At the highest level, mental sharpness is key, and without it, even the most confident fighter will fall short.

I think that boxers that get knocked out should not have to go through interviews or press conferences CTE is a big problem they should go through a protocol of going to the medics and sent home. The NFL has this protocol after a player gets knocked out of a game. AJ I think accomplished all he could and had a promoter that calculated his fights that allowed him to earn his money. I think that AJ could retire and do what Mayweather did and start his own boxing promotion. We need black promoters in boxing and he could do that

More interested in exposing Dubois cheating who cares about AJ he’s been irrelevant since Usyk beat him. Why are people fans of a guy who headbutts/leads with his head, low blows, forearm across the throat, punches the back of the head, and admits he’s going to cheat before the fights? Dubois gets a belt from a guy who KOed him with a jab after punching said fighter in the ass, balls and eventually bladder, then fights a guy who also got beat by that guy twice. I don’t think he is completely shot, i think he really needs to fix his defense though. How hard is it to circle out with a high guard? It’s basic boxing fundamentals. I agree with your point about Joshua, Wilder, Fury and Uysk having no more than five fights between them from this point before retirement. In a couple of years, the heavyweight division will have a similar feel to the early to mid 80s. It will have talented fighters and the odd great fight, though will be somewhat devoid of personalities, the styles of each fighters won't be as distinctive and, unlike in that period when Larry Holmes was seen as the number one heavyweight, there won't be one obvious stand out fighter who people think could be undisputed, though I don't think there will be as many upsets, It won't be as bad as the Klitschko era, but it won't be quite as compelling as this era of heavyweights. A number of people have asked if Fury vs Joshua will now happen. If Fury loses to Uysk in the rematch, I still think it can happen, but similar to when Kell Brook and Amir Khan fought each other. It will be for pride and nothing more. I would add as a caveat that it would have to happen next year for there to still be some interest.
