On today’s edition of The Saturday Stream, I discuss the recent reporting that Amazon Freevee will shut down. First reported by Adweek (although with some pushback from Amazon) unnamed sources have stated that Amazon is preparing to shut down their free streaming service Freevee and merge it into Prime Video.
Also I discuss Fubo’s antitrust lawsuit against Disney, Warner Bros Discovery, and Fox as well as look at the streaming charts from Nielsen.

I think they should just make Freevee include in the two dollar no ad plan. That would make the two dollar plan more interesting.

Thank you for explaining what’s going on about the ads in the annual plan though. This was really explained very well to the customer based by Amazon because they didn’t necessarily send out emails or letters explaining this to the customer. It would make sense Amazon the £2 on to The That you have so you don’t have to pay monthly with the prescription with the annual prescription plan for the year would make sense to me just to put the £2 on the annual plan. If this makes sense I will leave it up but if not, I’ll take it down as I’m usingSiri to dictate messages and sometimes it comes out incorrect so I apologise it hasn’t come out correct

So the added fee to get rid of the ads applies to everyone- monthly customers, annual, student plan, etc. And if you’re on the annual plan, you still have to get billed monthly for the “no ads” upgrade.

Well done. So, we've had Netflix for going on two consecutive years. It's the only true Streaming service we actively and openly subscribe to. Having said this, I'm sure you hear this a ton, however we're Prime subscribers for delivery. The video aspect is a bonus. We watch 10 to 30 minutes of RU-vid on most evenings, and pay to skip commercials. In your humble opinion, would you say we are subscribers to one, two or three streaming services? I realize there may not be a correct or wrong answer, however I can't think of anyone better qualified to answer this.

I'd say it's two streaming services with Netflix and Amazon Prime. I don't really consider RU-vid Premium a "streaming service," although to companies that sell advertising or TVs I suppose it doesn't really matter as long as people's eyeballs are on it which is why some in the industry might call it a streaming service.

@@ShallIStreamIt You're right of course. To be more specific, if we're not watching Amazon's programming, however actively use their Prime delivery services, does this make automatically make us subscribers? I guess to a casual question.... How many streaming services do you subscribe to? Typically, I'd default to "Just Netflix", however since RU-vid does cost money, it can be tough not to stick this into my answer. I do tend to agree with your point. The Amazon answer is more nuanced, however in the end, the only way we'd watch their programming would be by paying the additional $2.99 monthly to go commercial free. Freevee sounds great, however Netflix (ad Free) has spoiled us rotten, so we've never given Freevee a chance.

@aldintree There's some good shows and movies on Prime Video and it's automatically included with your subscription if you get Prime for the shopping benefits. So far, from what I've seen, the ads aren't too bad but I predict they'll gradually get more advertising as time goes on. Personally, I subscribe to several streaming services but a big part of that is I try to keep up with everything for this RU-vid channel. I always look out for the deals on Black Friday, etc. to save money. I get the Disney Bundle through Verizon, I got a year of Peacock for $20 last Black Friday, I'm still on the $2.99/mo deal for Max. I also use Netflix but someone in my household pays for it.

Freevee's not working. Is it done? I was into X-files Season 3. Guess I'll have to start recording it on ION instead. Really liked Bosch series too. Zero chance of me paying for Prime.

4/17/24 I just seen no more X Files on FreeVee. Searched the net, found you here. This vid is "dated". My concern is now. Talk to me. I want free Mulder and Scully, is it too much to ask? THX!
