Anyone else cry to this ending? Ramirez said it himself. He was originally an Egyptian about 3 thousand years old. Immortal. Aware of the prize. Yet despite this he sought out Macleod eventually and taught him. You can see he is still loving life and having fun despite the millennia that's what gets me. Ramirez should have every right to be absolutely depressed but he's loving it.
And this is where Highlander should have ended! MacLeod won the prize, found peace. They've should never made the terrible sequels! There can be only ONE!!! Period!!!
I think they had a nice initial concept for Highlander II where MacLeod used his power from the Prize to save the planet but accidentally brought darkness to Earth.
For all it matters this was the end. It was just supposed to be a one off film not a franchise but if you grew up at all in the 80's we often saw how that went. So many terrible sequels and films with no closure at the end just in case it did well enough to make a sequel.
"Patience, Highlander. You have done well. But it'll take time. You are generations being born and dying. You are at one with all living things. Each man's thoughts and dreams are yours to know. You have power beyond imagination. Use it well, my friend. Don't lose your head."
somebody please tell that to Donald for the next ten weeks ! - yeah, he's not exactly at one with all living things - but he does have power beyond imagination... here's hoping neither he nor we, lose our head !
@@kevinchambers17 Donald is a true hero the deepstate (corrupt government) control everything the media, news the spread lies about Trump Biden killed his first wife and child back in 1972.
And Macloud won his freedom. His way of living a mortal life. Highlander is the movie with the best philosophy that i´ve ever seen next to the biblical movies and "the last samurai". It teach us how valuable each day in our lives is. And how we have to fight for protect our time, winning as prize, finding a good life, love, family. Our happines, our true life in world.
This was on at cineworld the other week, I wanted to see it on the big screen but it was being played way up north in Glasgow. I would love to see it on the big screen, good old blu ray will have to do for now.
Did anyone think about how (at least I did) Connor is alone now, there will be no other immortals ever, no one ever like him (provided this was the last movie, which is wasn't, of course) but he has the memories of all the immortals who have ever lived.
Actually, it's 'Don't 'lose' your head'. 'Loose' and 'lose' have different definitions. That said, the significance of 'don't lose your head' may have slipped past some, but real fans got it right away.
For those wanting to know. 00:06 That's a Harrier GR9. Most likely stationed at RAF Lossiemouth. & 00:14 that's a Jaguar XJ40 Sovereign. I'm great fun at parties btw. 😁😊
Actually, the final scenes on the hill were filmed in North Wales, a place called Sychnant pass, they also filmed one of the highland tribe battles there too. The planes would be from RAF Valley on Anglesey, who use the terrain to practise low flying missions.
Evandro Santana Pereira yes, we are born “separated” (a branch cut off) due to our ego. Once we “overcome” it we are born again and become one with consciousness, Ie Gods children. Jesus makes his home with us. And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” Jesus Christ, Luke 11:9-10 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Jesus Christ, Matthew 6:33
@@martinrobo123 He's not wrong though. He's saying what Carl Jung has said through his studies on psychology, although in a religious manner. It's not wrong. "God" is within us. We're him and he's us. It's the Self. Don't shit on him because he is Christian. It's just semantics in the end.
This is how they could have fixed the sequels is no aliens, it’s just him mortal fighting the world, maybe he has a family or something after this with Brenda. Maybe the Highlander is trying to rescue people from slavery, or something and at the start of the second movie you see, he’s the best peace negotiator with this power he’s received and he’s making the world a better place. He could also be taking down the corrupt government or something.
Mrs Universe: I wish for World Peace Optimus Prime: I wish for World Peace Ghandi: I wish for World Peace Duncan: I wish for World Peace Illuminati: I wish for World Peace people: get them
A cult classic and a great movie at that. They should have ended it here and left it at that. The sequels that followed were pale pieces of garbage. The ‘80’s put out some really good movies back then and this was one of its hidden gems.
THIS Movie resembles real Life …..we all have TO FIGHT our battles … AND THE greatest Battle is against yourself … AND THE Price is Heaven …. If YOU CHOOSE TO Be Bad YOU end up in HELL
Trump's mother is Mary MacCleod, ...just like Duncan's in the TV series. In the movie, as this scene shows, Connor gains the ability to hear the thoughts of world leaders and diplomats, etc. eeerie coincidence!
As much as I love this movie, is Lambert trying to do a Scottish accent?? What the hell is that? He sounds more like Peter Lorre who is Jewish Hungarian XD
Actually, he worked with a linguist to develop an accent that sounded non-specifically foreign, to reflect that he had lived in many different places over the centuries and had his speech patterns reflected by all of them. Hence why you hear traces of the character's native Scottish accent, Lambert's natural French accent, and others in his delivery.
No it's not. You probably wanted something "edgy" like Shooting lightning and flying. What other prize could an immortal being want, but the ability to be one with everything, love, grow old and die?
Exactly, the prize is knowledge. What is interesting about all of this is that the immortals could live forever so long as they don't lose their heads, many lived for hundreds of years and generations and generations passed by. They fought each other for the prize where there can be only one and at the end, the winner acquires all the knowledge in the world and knows what people are thinking but in return they become mortal, start the aging process, and at some point die. That's an interesting tradeoff and I wonder, if the immortals knew that, would they want to continue to fight and have that kind of power or would they rather live forever?
The prize was whatever the victor wanted it to be. Connor wanted peace and freedom. Stick to the MCU universe or whatever overblown franchise is doing the rounds today if you want superfluous endings.
