What I've always liked and appreciated about Tony is how he makes you feel like he's talking TO you, like he's discussing something with a friend. He makes you feel like you're with him, that he's sharing his thoughts and observations with you directly. "I don't know about you, but I think..." "I think that's wonderful, don't you?" He makes you feel like a part of it, instead of just a viewer.

Tony is the best video narrator. He really adds a dimension to a story that is hard to put into words but you feel it nonetheless. A level of added attention coupled with memorable retention for the observer. Certainly found his niche.

Honestly this is the first series that I found that really makes me feel as though I’m there with him, going along for the journey, rather then just watching. I’m a broke college student, with a love of history and nature, who has dreams of one day being able to travel. but until I can, I watch a lot of documentaries and Sir Tony and this series has really soothed my anxious heart. I may not be able to get to Britain any time soon but I can go on adventures with Sir Tony, even if it’s just virtually.

I'd like to imagine when Tony found out Time Team was being cancelled, after 20 years and all the other work he's done ... Tony just said, "Fuck you, there's more old shit to look at." And they decided it was best to just keep a camera crew following him around.

Interesting in just understanding my own ancestors of (royal shire) HERTS, that 40+ villages became extinct during the Black Death in 3 years (1348-1350). Same for many of the other shires, and especially the bigger towns and populations getting ripped and wiped down to bare essentials. It became obvious, doing genealogical research, that after the Black Death, those 3 years ... up to 200 years later, the countryside was left back to nature, and only piece by piece burned back the forests in the fall time to the edges of the forests, and eventually burn the riparian wetlands. Re-expansion back of the population back into the countryside had to be farmed after the land was burned (sterilized, killing off any bugs and baccterials and virus of the Black Plague) and then allowed farming. It took 200 years to eventually in the 1550s to get back all the 1300s lands, and then the population had greater farming, food, and health security, with a population boom thereafter.

Slave trade IN Britain?? I take it you're not referring to the Roman period or something similar, but to the 16th-19th cen. slave trade. While there may have been plenty of British involvement in the slave trade- and lots of profits from it going to Britain, there was actually very little of it allowed in Britain itself, but instead restricted to the colonies. However one should also remark that Britain, for all its poor colonial record, is one of the earliest countries to outlaw the slave trade. But why comment about that on a video that has absolutely nothing to do with the subject. Absolute History does seem to cover a wide range of subjects and you may find an episode about the slave trade somewhere.
