Ingaï guides us through northern Chad, looking for the famous oases hidden in the Ennedi massif. This Bideyat nomad knows a lot of stories about this place, that he transmits to his grandson during their adventure. In the end, they hope to find this paradise land that remained unknown for long, because this oasis is hardly accessible.
Extract from the documentary: “Sahara’s secret garden”
Direction: Gauthier Flauder
Production: ZED & France Télévisions

Simply incredible how even in the most remote, seemingly inhospitable corners of the world, humans are able to live off what their surroundings grant to them. What a rich culture these people of the Ennedi region have preserved, especially in today’s globalized times. Well done, Slice

"A labyrinth of stone towers in the desert" is properly called a "tassili" in the language of the Tuareg, but since the Ennedi belongs to the territory of the Teda the Ennedi is rarely addressed as the "Tassili du Ennedi", in contrast with the "Tassili du Ajjer". This kind of landscape is formed by sandstones heavily eroded by running water and flying sand.

This place looks like it was a great city at one time. I could see some faces in the rocks and other anomalies. I don’t blame whoever made the video I wouldn’t tell the location that’s all anyone needs is a bunch of people wanting to explore this area. It’s naturally beautiful and should stay that way. It looked like the plateau was part of an ancient city. I was amazed watching this video just being able to see it was mystifying. Thank you for sharing this I felt as if I’d been there before for some crazy reason it must be a very spiritual place.

Palm Valley in the central Australia desert is fed by an all year round underground spring. A true rarity. There and only there the last vestiges of a once common tree can still be found long after the centre of Australia went from green to sand over countless millennia and obliterated that and many other species from the surrounding land. An oasis created by a geological quirk which emulated a long past climate, where they still retain a foothold.
