I know I'm not the only one who gets chills when a view of any "Enterprise" like that comes in... I started watching at 22 in 66; I'm 80 now, and it still gets me. Thank you, Gene Roddenberry !
@@TheFlyingSailorYT He may well have even seen the Enterprises B and C early in his career, but not served on them. He's old enough, and had been in Starfleet long enough, that he could have seen the B at the twilight of it's service and been around for the C as well.
I started watching when I was 6 when I saw my first episode of the original series ("The Changeling" as a matter of fact) then it wasn't long afterwards my Dad took me to see The Motion Picture and I was hooked! Now I'm 51 and still loving it! Just like Picard I too got chills when I saw The Enterprise G! I couldn't believe it! So lovely and beautiful! All ships that have carried the name Enterprise I have thought were amazing! The NX-01 and Enterprise E were my favorites. Both were so cool looking!
Star Trek knows how to do service to its fans. And I for one have been served. Bloody well done Matalas. And with the SNW crossover… Kurtzmann (and Frakes) take a bow. Brilliant. Bloody brilliant.
@@TwistedSecrets777 now the fans need to petition Terry Matals to bring in Robin Curtis to reprise Captain Saavik for a flashback on the original USS Titan.
Jerry still looks hot. I totally disagree on seasons; 1 & 2 were great! 3 was great because of the obvious reasons; however i don't get how now that we had a new borg queen from what happen in season 2, how in the heck does what happened in 3 happen? On a global scale it doesn't make sense.
Seeing the Titan A renamed the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-G and being in the style of the Constitution Class reminded me of what Captain Kirk said in his final log entry on the Enterprise A: 'Captain's log stardate 9521.6 this is the final cruise of the Starship Enterprise under my command but this ship and her history will shortly become the care of another crew to what we will commit our posterity and future Boldly going where No Man where No One has Gone Before'.
"They will continue the journeys we have begun, and travel to all the undiscovered countries, boldly going where no man--where no one--has gone before."
The first couple of seasons of Picard were pretty rough but Seven’s character was a standout. So much more nuance and depth than she was allowed on voyager. She’ll make a great captain if Paramount is smart enough to make Legacy an actual show
The crew of the Enterprise G already has the right feel and familiarity to carry on to the first series with Seven as Captain. Fait accompli and pretty sure her first command was "Do it!" in honour of Captain Janeway...
"What better way to honor a ship that already have a namesake lineage, a ship whose crew, including her captain, sacrifice their lives, who valiantly halted a full-scale invasion, who saved Earth and, by extension, the entire Federation? What better way to honor it than to....renaming it." - Junkball Transmission, 2023/06/09
I think it's rather poetic that the newest Enterprise is a modern iteration of the classic Constitution-class which indelibly etched the name into the annals of Starfleet history under the command of Captain James Kirk. It feels like we've come full circle in that respect. It was a wonderful touch that she was revealed in a manner similar to the Enterprise-A at the end of Star Trek IV. I'm sure that this new crew will make sure that history never forgets the name Enterprise.
I like it too, but we are going to need a refit episode for shields, weapons and so on...the Enterprise is the flagship, it's supposed to be the best the fleet has to offer. The Titan was no match for the Enterprise-F that was just decommissioned. It's a minor plot hole that can easily be fixed if we get Legacy, all while keeping it's look without doing a structural refit.
I'm sure I wasn't the only one who suspected the U.S.S. Titan was really the cover for the next Enterprise all along. Considering the role it had in this finale season, it was plainly obvious to me it was playing the role of the Enterprise the moment Picard, Riker and Seven were together on this ship. Later to be joined by Beverly...
@@IMDARKFIRE007 At least since the C right? From my recollection, the og 1701 and 1701 A were part of ship classes that were more akin to workhorses of Starfleet during their time (Connie 1 and 2), while the B was an improved Excelsior class. It was only during the days of the Ambassador class C that the name Big E was synonymous as flagship if memory serves, and that trend continued with both the D, E and F. Not sure about you, but the name returning to what is essentially the proper successor of the older Connie (a return to form per se) made sense to me.
@@SR71ABCD That game was written by D.C Fontana. She's an old school Star Trek writer from TOS. It may not have been as good as say Bridge Commander, but the editing of said game was done the same as Armada, the file system is the same.
@@blacktronpavel The spacedock shield generators still have to take and distribute the load, though. Depending on how shield generators are built and installed, it may well come down to the set of bolts that holds the shield generator to the spaceframe.
Jack being a special counselor to the captain makes sense. He has always something to say about the situation. Sometimes it is poetic and sometimes it could be silly, but he is not afraid to speak his mind and give his opinion.. Something that captain Seven may need to hear.
@@dirdib69 doesnt he keep all the knowledge he had gained from being in the Borg? hence 13 alien languages fluently (presuming their was 13 races in the new collective), knowing the ins and outs of the universe etc.
@@AdmiralKarelia I actually think it helps him in the long-run. He's already experienced in comms as he can speak 13 alien languages, tactical from his time as a scoundrel, and also experience in engineering and science. Being the Councilor is probably one of the most important aspects, as it will give him experience on getting to know the crew, something that all commanders need to develop, as it helps the crew in believing that their commanding officer cares about them and their problems/needs. Also, it give Jack the opportunity to see how things operate on the bridge of a Starfleet vessel. Jack does have his father's aspects from when he was younger, being rash, arrogant, and others (these were mentioned in Star Trek Nemesis), but he does have other aspects from his father, which Seven had pointed out when they were both observing the different ships in the Fleet Museum. I say that given a few tours, Jack could become one of the best starship commanders in Starfleet. He just needs a little more experience in other aspects of command, and he will be able to sit in the captain's chair.
""I still can't believe Starfleet saw fit to give a thief, a pirate, and a spy their own ship." More than that, they gave those three the frakking Flagship of Starfleet.
And if you think about it they probably filmed it with a green screen so Patrick Steward couldnt even see anything, and yet he managed to show all those emotions in that scene. To me that speaks volumes about his acting capability's
I hope we get to see captain 7’s voyages. So much potential and also characters she could meet up with, obviously I’d love to see her and the EMH Doctor and of course admiral Janeway.
Note Jack Crusher's line to Seven, "What would be the opening line to your legacy?" So, it seem like they are setting it for a future Star Trek: Legacy show.
The Enterprise D, The Big D, was the first to encounter the Borg, and was the ship that ultimately destroyed those same Borg. It is a fitting tribute that both the Enterprise D, which was instrumental in defeating Starfleet's most feared enemy, and the Enterprise G, are in this last episode showcasing what Starfleet is capable of. The Enterprise G looking so much like the classic Enterprise A is not by mistake. The Enterprise A is the greatest Constitution Class Enterprise to ever bear the name. The Enterprise D is, and always for me, will be THE ENTERPRISE! Bravo to this show for giving us Next Generation fans the sendoff that we deserved and the glory that The Enterprise D should have had in the first place! She will always, for me, be The Best Starfleet Ship to bear the Name: ENTERPRISE!
In a sense, it was NEVER the ship that made the difference. It was the crew and their resolute sense of duty in the face of danger, mystery, and chaos. To boldly go.... you know the rest.
The Enterprise G is a fitting tribute to the TNG crew and how instrumental it was for saving the Federation with Captain Shaw and #1 Hansen/Seven! Raffi redeem herself. I want to see their voyages. Oh let me not forget Ensign Jack Crusher who has caught the eye of Q !!!!🥳
I got to be honest, I'm not exactly crazy about the new Enterprise G, but I'm not the type to howl bloodybMurder over her either. Hell, watch my time will probably be spent analyzing the footage of the reveal over, and over again. Much like the Enterprise-D, I'm sure the G will grow on me,too.
@@buhe1 Note the same theme music they used in Star Trek: Wrath of Khan when Admiral Kirk is taking the original TOS era Enterprise out on.a cadet traimg cruise. According to Canon, Star Fleet cadets have an extra year where they spend on an active Star Fleet ship before they graduated. You also saw that with Uhura during the first season of Star Trek: Brave New World. The renaming of the Titan A to Enterprise G is a link to the end of Star Trek: Voyage Home where Kirk was demoted to Captain and given command of the former Constitution 2 class Yorktown, now renamed Enterprise A. It was also given by Starfleet as gratitude for saving Earth during the whalesong crisis.
Won't be happening anytime soon. Primary rule of Star Trek: There can ONLY ever be ONE "Enterprise" on TV, and that spot is currently filled by the "original" Enterprise, on Strange New Worlds
Jean-Luc never saw himself in a position like this. Seeing his son go to his first assignment. His son. As he stated in the first episode of TNG, he was uncomfortable with having children on board his ship as civilians aren't usually up to living in deep space on vessels where the danger is. Jean-Luc warmed up to idea of being a father in Season 7, but that was an over-convuluted Ferengi plot of revenge. Jean-Luc was more than willing to let his brother be the family man. Sadly, the fire that killed his brother and nephew in Generations affected Jean-Luc terribly. As time went forward though, Jean-Luc resigned himself to being the last of that main branch of the Picard family. It wasn't until he realized that Jack is his son that he finally understood how his brother felt. Parents make mistakes, but the good ones use those mistakes to help their children, no matter how old they are, to help them be better.
@@jakepetterson1050 Yes they do. Also, Physical media especially on Blu-ray has superior quality on sound and image. Streaming has gotten better, but it's still night and day. That, and what people forget, you need an Internet connection to watch streaming whereas provided your Blu-ray player is up to date on firmware updates, you won't need the Internet to play it. Also, Physical media doesn't get edited and have scenes removed like Netflix has been doing lately.
While I do like this ending, I think it would have been poetic if it ended with Jack taking Jean Luc through the corridors of the ship, with Jean Luc telling jack "Well she's [not] a new ship, but she's got the right name. Remember that. you treat her like a lady and she'll always bring you home".
Nice to see that Jack crusher is going to be taking the position. That was the post for or at least close to being the post of Naomi wildman on The Voyager for Janeway being Janeway's assistant😅
I know it would have probably been cringy and nothing but fan service, but it would have been awesome for Naomi Wildman to be on the bridge and say something about him being the "Captains Assistant" when Seven told him he was "Special Counselor to the Captain".
"Captain Seven" has a very nice ring to it. Congratulations, Seven. I wonder if that was a little homage to Naomi Wildman, making Jack the Captain's Assistant or Special Counselor?
As a nod to her Constitution I and Constitution II namesakes of the 23rd century that came before with the Enterprise name and the 1701 registry number.
Think it’s going to best Star Trek ever can’t wait been a Trekkie since 1968 the original series still my favorite but this new Picard Star Trek g enterprise With seven Jack it’s going to be one heck of a ride for sure ❤
It feels like jacks dialogue when he's offscreen is ADR as the way its shot makes it feel like the ship being rechristened enterprise was a late change it feels like originally the ship was going to be the U.S.S. Picard
Yeah, that was EXACTLY my thought, I wouldn't be surprised at all if someday we found out the shooting scripts reflected that. In truth, I kind of think it would be more appropriate to name it 'Picard' than bolting the name 'Enterprise' onto a ship that seemed to be fairly outdated technologically.
I like to think Seven took a line out of Kirk's book, not his regular line but his last while in command. "First star to the right...and straight on 'til morning."
@laz7354 Technically, it is a new ship but that doesn't matter. It was appropriate, almost considered a tradition. Since that line was quoted by DeForest Kelley on the TNG pilot episode.
A show with that crew and ship would be damn interesting. Jack has a Riker like swagger at times that could be interesting in the writing, and Seven of course still plenty of lines of character development. Add in the rest and well, even the worst writers in Hollywood should do OK lol.
Uhm... didnt you already hear? Thats what LEgacy will be. Fitting name realy even thou Bethesda still holds the game and thus the name right (Yea ST:Legacy is still a thing and still played!). And yes all we know is that it features the G and Seven as captain.
As far as the "size" issue is concerned. Having examined the specs and comparisons the "G" is probably almost the same size as the "E" in terms of interior volume.
No. Even if you remove the nacelles and pylons the soveriegn class is still bigger in terms of both length and in terms of volume. The length of a soveriegn class hull from bow to fantail is about 530m-540m while the connie3 loses at least 100m from it's 560m without it's nacelles and pylons so it's still not even close.
@@armymatt83 I’m kinda confused by this. The ship is literally a refit constitution class, called the Constitution III. Knowing that, the ship is shorter than the E’s nacelle.
I like to think that Seven didn't really "say" anything as her warp command, she just started screaming the "AAAAAAAHHHH!!!" from Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin. I mean, the Kelvin universe got the Beastie Boys, right?
The natural conclusion to the narrative would have been to name the Titan the USS PICARD . I'm fine with it being the G now. But thematically for the show, it makes more sense that the ship his son serves on is named after Jean-Luc Picard, as the theme was about leaving a legacy. They covered the legacy of The Enterprise by having the A, D, and F show up in the show. Riker and Troi's legacy with their children is covered. The legacy of the Dominion War is covered by the old soldier Worf. Raffi's kid is her legacy. Geordi's kids are his. Crusher and her sons. Data 2.0 is the legacy of Soong and all the Soong-droids before him. The revealing of the re-christened Titan as the U.S.S. PICARD would have capped off that theme for Jean-Luc's character for this season, and the dreadful other seasons as well. A miss when swinging for one last nostalgia-hit. Not a complaint, just an observable flaw.
With his, " aversion to fanfare, " Picard would never have been comfortable with the ship out there bearing his name. No,this was the right call. Indeed, Picard has never been about fame and glory for himself and his name, that wasn't his style. It was about making a difference and ensuring that the Enterprise legacy was passed on to a new generation.
One year later, and I still feel like either Picard season four Picard 2.0 Legacy continuing on with this crew from this last episode 100% a ratings success
It would of been so funny if Seven said what she was going to say when taking the Ship out only to cut back to the crew in the bridge criticizing her on what she said by saying things like "Out of everything you could of said you chose to say that?" so on and so forth lol.😂
