That wasn’t impressive. It was mind boggling. If I hadn’t seen and heard it with my own senses I’d say it was impossible. What an amazing performance. She plays with such clarity and authority.
@@dbarless As much as I like Richard Smith's version, Paola's arrangement is simply brilliant. I love how she makes it sound like a hybrid of Joplin and Tarrega, showing off not only her perfect technique, but also her ability to add a classical Spanish flavor to any tune she choses. So enjoyable to hear!
This girl is incredible . That is some really clean playing at that fast of rythum. This song has memories for me I was orphaned and a lady who was big influence on my life used to play that tune on piano.♥️

This is some crazy clean playing with practically zero fret buzz, muted or dropped notes! Amazing, really. My brain hurts. I wish I could give this a bajillion likes.
Who are these people who give a 👎??? This music is superbly interpreted and played. I play neoclassical rock guitar, but I recognise a genuine virtuoso performer. Anyone who doesn't, needs to seriously question themselves. Haters should look elsewhere rather than spread their brand of negativity....

I've been thinking about this myself. So how about explaining why it was downvoted by the viewer? Perhaps some constructive criticism rather than just a hit and run. Perhaps there is a some sort of club outhere dedicated to give down votes for no reason at all other than to brag to their friends about it. In any case the music speaks for itself. Very nice. Now I must go and practice.

Completely relaxed and no drama whatsoever while playing the most complex impressive, intricate voicing and even has time to connect with audience and make you feel like a million bucks.
Also, I'm SO impressed with how you arranged the melody so you can play many of the tricky parts ACROSS strings, in one position -- perfect way to conserve movement. It would be "flashier" to jump around the fretboard but that would detract from the natural lyricism you show here.
Aaron, this is a really good observation, and one of "tricks" of classical guitar arrangement. If you can find a way to do it, cross-string fingerings are usually faster and easier to play than running up and down the neck. Speaking in general, arrangement is usually the hardest part of transcribing pieces like this for guitar. . . .this is a great performance of a really great arrangement!

A mi me encantaría tocar "piezas" así, pero sigo estancado como el típico guitarrista que solo sabe tocar acordes y frases sencillas, tal vez estoy equivocado pero creo que ese tipo de técnica solo se puede conseguir con profesores o tutores, y me refiero en el sentido de ser más "sencillo" aprender gracias a estos y no de manera autodidacta. Pero No desanimes! Incluso la persona más talentosa no podría llegar a nada sin trabajo, esfuerzo y dedicación.

Forget all the dissenters, this performance was beautiful, subtle and mellow. I love her style and the ease with which she plays ; and rarely looks at the fretboard. She is a class musician and I’m thinking, what a great bonfire my guitars would make!
I agree that this is an amazing performance, but she absolutely does look at the fretboard for basically the whole video lol. Not that there is anything wrong with that at all, I don’t think looking at the fretboard detracts at all from the talent or skill of a performer

I ve heard many guitar arrangements for The Entertainer but this is absolutely the best, as well as being true to the original. I was transported back forty years to when I first heard my late father play the Entertainer on the piano. Beautiful music, thank you for your version.

I love this performance. After having learned Richard Smith's version in D recently, I am blown away by the complexity of Paula’s arrangement in G over dropped D tuning. It starts right at the start when she nails the Flageolets and the chords while Richard plays single notes there. Paola intro is extremely elegant and sounds so nice harmonically. Richard's whole arrangement is significantly easier to play, as it does not require as many difficult shifts over the fretboard even already in the first part. No doubt: Both performances are top notch, still I’d like to see Richard play Paola’s version, as it requires so much more precision.
When I saw this video, the first thing I thought was "how does it compare with Richard smith's version", which I think shows that his performance (the one where Tommy Emmanuel's in the room) set the bar. I could say that Paola's just cleared the bar and raised it another foot, but really, they play in different styles and are both world-class guitarists. I do like Paola's recording quality, and her precise, somewhat forceful playing.

I saw the movie "The Sting" as a kid. I will always associate these Joplins songs with the film. My Mom had an 8-track tape with the score from the film, and I heard it a lot. To this day, I enjoy great performances like this as a tribute to to both writer and film. Very well done Paola!!!

The left hand comes fairly quickly with muscle memory. It doesn't necessarily make you a good guitar player. Im speaking from personal experience. If your dominant with your left hand, its like having a great GPS, but you can still be a bad driver. The magic, rhythm, and timing is all in the right hand
