In my nostalgia feels with this. I was in college staying up all night completing the story and then joining online (when it worked) with friends to complete the little activities they had to offer. It was incredible. Fast forward 10 years later and I picked it up again to the surprise of a completely different game and experience. What a ride it’s been
same man, I was playing GTA thru high school with my friends (we even did that elite mastermind challenge thing where you get $12M) and the starting college i didnt play for 3 years, came back to it last year and have been playing here and there enjoying my time; mostly for the nostalgia. I mean, i was playing this damn game when i was like 14 in school. Now a grown ass man with responsibilities and the same music and cars still dazzle me and take me back to that time
I played GTA V a long time ago on an ancient PS3 and loved it. Now I play GTA online and see how much everything changed. Now I have a lot of great memories from the good old times and I'm creating new ones. I'll never forget those moments of joy.
The community needs this right now...we are in a very hard spot with this game and.....I dont know where things are gona go with what else is going to happen with this game currently. And by the way, I did the criminal mastermind challange and we all got bank. And by god the memories Ive had in this game....and TGG...if you can see this....Im glad you gave us 10 years of youtube content and that you decided to release this a day early when the community needs you most. Thanks for the memories, community, and fun times we have all had in this game.
Watching this is like watching a time capsule man I remember all of this, being excited, disappointed, and ecstatic the further developed online would get. This was definitely a masterpiece of a video and kudos to you, TGG for working to put this all together! Can’t wait to see what comes next!
I can’t properly express how much I love your videos! They’re incredibly well made and keep me hooked for the entire 56 mins. Even after all these years you’re the one that keeps GTAV interesting for me. Keep doing what you do please!
I would’ve never thought that a gta video would make me think about life so much. So many memories and emotions while watching this. I played since launch and this game as seen many chapters of my life open and close. It feels like such a long time yet not long enough. Though I do love the time I spent online making friends and making memories, I wish I would’ve grown up sooner and take a bit of control of my life. Video games have brought good into my life but also took many things and people away. For me, today, I can say gaming wasn’t worth it for me
Can confirm, as one of the few lucky people who played GTA Online with no problems from day one, it was very lonely being the only person in the friend group who could consistently play. MW2 was our go to.
That evolution TGG, was what kept me playing for a decade. I wore out so many discs, that it became a running joke as to how many copies I purchased. Amazing videography TGG. ✌️
The saddest thing about this is that none of the online DLC vehicles ever made it to single player. It would be nice if they added them in one last update. Many of them could be added to the traffic, some in specific locations.
The story mode is actually stuck in the year it released 2013 where the storyline takes place. The online stays with current times which is why Franklin is older in online and actually owns his record company. The storyline is a constant reminder of the game that gave us this wild rollercoaster of a game that is GTAV today. The story is where everything started.
14:56 I never thought the heist update would come out so late considering the fact my first time playing GTA 5 was in 2015 and didn’t play online until summer 2017. Back then when I was a low level character, my favourite game mode was Special Race Series which then got removed several years later. That was legit the only and arguably the most enjoyable game mode I played on. I’d stay away from heists, free mode activities, gunfights and other update missions for a good amount of time because it was that enjoyable. I was 15 when playing online for the first time. Now I’m 21. What a journey.
Played for the first time on the Xbox 360 back in 2013. Crazy how so much has changed and yet I can still come back and switch on the radio and be taken back.
The $500,000 Rockstar gave out at launch due to their mess ups felt like such a blessing, also I distinctively remember having exactly enough time to roll a joint in the amount of time it’d take to load in so wasn’t to bad
Like your style, although my experience was, roll, check, go out and smoke, come back check, pull myself back from the brink, just in time to say server issue try again 😂
Im pretty sure tgg is the only gta content creator that can pull of making a video like this and get people to actually warch it...Thanks for the video tgg
He's not kidding about there not being much to do at launch. Once I bought my Rhino I'd drive around clotheslining players with the cannon barrel, rotate it above them and laugh like an idiot when they'd try to stand and immediately get crumpled. I'm not sure if this was the "end game" content Rockstar had planned but it's what we had at the time.
I’m so happy you did this video. It’s been a journey and as an avid GTAO fan since its inception, this brought back so many memories both good and bad. Thank tou
42:46 I know it was a pretty mid dlc but tbh it holds a special place in my heart. This was the first DLC in which I was actively waiting for its launch. (I started playing online actively around December 2019, but completely missed the casino heist) When it released, I was on vacation with my family, and had to wait a week and a half before I could play it. That was the longest week and a half of my life. I still remember impatiently waiting to download and log onto the game to play. Now, three years later, despite everything that's happened, I'm still playing.
I remember being so hyped at 11 years old for this game, got my grandparents to let me buy it day 1 with the metal case. Played for many thousands of hours. Met my best friend of 7 years on the pacific standard glitch. Been grinding this last week as there’s still always something to do on this old gem. There will never be another gta 5 to me, even if 6 is better in every way. I get hyped for a lot of releases but this GTA5 is the only one that went above and beyond all expectations.
This game also never fails to bring back nostalgia with me having the same account. My 10 year old cars, business names, saved clothes, and just driving around remembering where it all happened and endless laughs/serious talks with the homies.
There will never be another game like GTA 5 online. The creativity and escalation of intensity added over the years will remain unmatched. The vehicle combat in the chaotic randomness of a public lobby has so much depth. What started out as the first wacky addition, a simple electric car with a giant rocket boost built in, turned into boosting submersible cars that fire lock on missiles. The service vehicles that have unique weapon turrets in them let crews dominate the ground or sky depending on which one. Those same service vehicles have computer terminals that give access to unique missions that make them worthy investments. The varying aircraft breeds, some being clearly better at air to ground, some better at air to air, and some being more neutral/ a little good at both. The varying businesses and heists added over the years all compile to make truly one of the most unique experiences in the entire gaming industry. I can’t think of a game that lets me rob a bank as well as fly a fighter jet that also lets me buy and relax in luxury apartments at free will. If GTA 6 has only half the content that made gta 5 online so great, it will still be a pretty damn good game.
people were worried about GTAV early version graphics and absolutely got dunked on when it released… now people are worried about 4 year old GTA6 development phase leaks… lol
I want to watch this but the nostalgia from these times is so overwhelming. To everyone out there i ever played with during these day, i miss you and i hope you're all well
Great video. I wish you would've listed some of the things the community really clinged to at various points. Down the drain amd rooftop rumble for money at the start. The first time stunners vs snipers was added and how it was a huge hit. I miss those things
I started playing in december 2014, i remember sometimes waiting 10 mins with bad internet connection to load the online for the ps3. 2015-2017 was the peak of GTA Online. I stopped playing when items got overpriced and started playing again when the casino and cayo perco heist came out
Retrospectively speaking, this might be my favourite game of all time. I've come back to and bought this game on 3 separate consoles (most recently on the PS5) and I've had a blast every time. The story doesn't really get old for me and my latest return to GTA online has been fun. Have not played since 2017 and since buying it on Boxing Day, I've logged nearly 200 hours and I'm loving it! Kudos Rockstar.
I’m honored to have been able to experience this all from literally Day 1! The best part is I still have most of my OG character things, cars/money from 10 years ago etc. Cant wait to start fresh with GTA6🙌🏾
Thought the video was very well done. I started playing online around 2017 and took a long break until 2020 where I got really into playing almost everyday. It's interesting to see all the changes before during and after like when I logged back in and there was an actual casino but I had no clue where it was.
Great video TGG! GTAV was announced when I was in my twenties and now I’m in my forties! As someone who started with the first GTA, you guys are lucky to start with V and the current online. It’ll be interesting to see how much further the GTA series goes by the time y’all get to my age and if you’ll still be playing. I know I will keep playing. I’ll see y’all in Los Santos and wherever else GTA takes us!
Watching this makes me feel so old man. I remember I bought GTA shortly after it came out. I was 8 at the time. I got it, had it a few days. But unfortunately, it was a little too violent for my eyes at the time. So I had to get rid of it. But I got it back in my teen years. Cannot believe it's lasted 10 years and is still one of the highest grossing games. Guess I truly am a GTA veteran. Damn!! So hard to believe it's been 10 years man. Still going strong. Congrats on 10 years GTA! Here's to all the good memories and for many many more to come!
Gta v* Unless you were 8 in 97, like me when I first started playing GTA. Banned in most stores but me and my friend had it. Shit was insane even back then. Then 2 and London…Crazy to compare to now indeed
This video is great dude, thanks!! I've played GTA5 since it launched. And this reminds me of what GTA was like before and after all the different updates
I didn't get GTA 5 until late 2014, it was probably a Christmas gift but I'd have to do some digging to find exactly when I got it, but some of my earliest memories on this game was with a bunch of friends just running around and doing some Last Team Standing gamemodes. One of the ones I remember the best was a Cars vs Jets mode where you just drive from the airport to somewhere up north (I forget the exact end point) and I remember being so good at that mode because nobody I played with really knew the game. Another classic mode was the RPG's vs Flying Cars (not actual flying cars, just regular cars going off ramps), those lobbies used to get so full every single match. I still remember the day the original Heists came out, there was so much hype around them. Just one of the many things you had to be there for.
I started two years ago and own everything, everything. Every upgrade , full garages, and near a billion in earnings legit, I can't believe how long it took to make the game we know today.
Most of it was added over the years. When I first started playing GTA online, only way to money grind were OG heists and selling product in a public lobby. There wasn't much else to do either. Sometimes I think GTA actually lost a lot of players back then because there really wasn't a lot to do in the game.
@@minthouse6338 I remember the backlash about the online experience and decided to wait til it was more developed, I didn't come back until the pandemic
now rockstar employees should play undercover and find modders and pay them like $20 to tell them what software they use to do it then make the game incompatible with the mods
Dude modders make shit loads more than that selling the cheats, not a single one would ever rat out the whole hacking community for a tiny fraction of what they normaly earn
I would've been very excited to see this video when I first started playing GTA online, which was only in February, 2023. To the new player, it explains everything that's going on in a short summary, compared to learning it slowly with friends and strangers. Often, the strangers are already jaded veterans who either don't have the time or interest to take you under their wing and explain the game to you. While that's an interesting way in itself to experience a new game, the depth of GTA is daunting if you're just starting out. As we can see by the encyclopedia of videos about GTA on RU-vid, there is a huge amount of information to absorb to play the game well, or at least have the most fun you can, depending on how you want to play. Thank you for this awesome overview and short but thorough documentary of GTA Online. It's a resource even for some veterans who might have never examined the whole picture of a game that has actually had a large impact on culture all over the world. That's a vast impact.
Can’t believe I started playing this game on launch on the 360. Pretty sure online wasn’t even playable on launch. Met some cool people on there. I hope they can release 6 before I get too old. GTA felt like delving into a whole new world with people and friends you’ve never personally met but always got together and played as if you did
no matter how disappointed we are in rockstar now, let's be real we mustn't forget and be grateful for all the free content it gave us throughout the last decade and last few years (some are plain shit but free nonetheless), no other company dared to come even close to being this generous to their playerbase
@@usernamepassword236 yes But sometimes they hv a point Like introducing gta+ was not an ethical idea if we consider that gta 5 is not a free game Things like royal pass should only exist in free games
@@rahulverma8774 It does not do anything for me. GTA V removing cars & adding them as a surprise random thing in dealership is fine for me cause i am not car collector
@@harakaat9 no flying bikes,no flying cars ,laser guns, all that other bs they put in the last game that made it look like it was turning into saints row
Man this brought back memories of trying to first grind ~October 2013. We'd all go do this one specific race, which was literally just a circle around the Penitentiary.... and it was so much freaking fun.
@@killax7 Lmao. Everyone was still trying to figure out how to make money. We'd take breaks to go steal and sell a car. It would take forever to get back into the same race lobby and it was fu.... oh shhh, let me have my nostalgia lol
i just want to say thank you for your work and your content. to me you are the best Gta youtiber. especialy i love your videos about updates and weekly updates, i tall you why that is so.... your videos dont start with 3 min intros with annoying loud music and you dont say on the start things like.... before we go into the video i have to tell you something and talking 10 min about nonsence what nobody wants to hear. you always come straight to the point. thank you for that :)
Ah the good ol memories! Although after 8 years youd think theyd make the heists available for solo players...Its the only part of gta online that Ive never been able to do
I could never imagine when I was 14 years old that this would grow and evolve like it has over the past 10 years. Still have fun with friends on it to this day.
Great video and what a trip down memory lane. I just realized that I have transferred my character through 3 generations of consoles. Definitely my oldest active online character. Haven';t played steady for all those years, but have been for months now.
It’s crazy how fast this video is going through my life! GTA was the game I played for the longest in and it seems like such a huge chunk of the fun times of my past gamer life but this video is making me feel like it was all super short, I just never realized it. Damn now I’m sad lol
I’m old enough to remember when the mechanic actually got out of your car when he brought it to you. Or when the bounty system was used properly or when thieves were sent to mug you every session.
I started playing online just after the beach bum update. It's crazy to think 10 years have gone by. There's been a lot of memories made playing this game.
