The Entire Foothills Trail in 20 Minutes - Oconee to Table Rock

The Foothills Trail is a 76.2 mile trail between Oconee State Park and Table Rock State Park, both in South Carolina. Portions of the trail lie in North Carolina as well.
The highest point on the trail (and also the highest point in South Carolina) is Sassafrass Mountain, elevation 3554 feet. Water is abundant along the trail, and even in dry conditions, several cisterns, placed by Boy Scouts, can be found. There are also 21 designated campsites, most of which have benches, fire rings, and bear bag cables.
On December 27, 2022, I set out to thru hike the trail eastbound, but after 24 miles, I had to leave the trail at the end of December 28. I returned March 5-9, 2023 to finish.

Welcome aboard, Crow! It is a great trail, indeed. A return trip is on my to-do list. I might not do the whole trail next time, though. There are a lot of options around there for multi-day hikes. One I've considered is starting at Caesar's Head State Park and taking the trail from there to Sassafrass Mountain, then Foothills Trail west to... somewhere.

Heck yeah, Fresh Ground on the FHT. That's a treat. I thru-hiked this trail in 2021. It's a great trail to hike.

It was quite an honor to meet and be fed by Fresh Ground. Grilled cheese, blueberry pancakes, and of course, fresh ground coffee.

I finished FHT in Oct 2023, it was a lot dryer then. Keep on putting one foot in front of the other.

Beautiful trail! Thanks for sharing i have been to table rock its a birds eye view from the top with a beautiful park and lake there at the bottom. Did you take a canoe out on the lake?

I did not. You're talking about Lake Jocassee? No, I haven't been on it, nor have I been up to Table Rock. Returning to the area is on my to-do list, though.

Kool. Yeah its Jocassee. I have family there in pickens county the town of Easily. You should check it out i think you would enjoy it.
