Also the battle mech cmf is possibly a galaxy squad refrence becouse of its similar color scheme and parts. Also theres the evil space mech wich uses the same parts but works for blacktron as a hacker so it could be a stolen galaxy squad robot
That's an interesting thought! Personally I would be less inclined to think either of them have official Galaxy Squad connections, as they have they don't have the Galaxy Squad logo. The helmet design is also completely different, but thinking about it, that in itself doesn't dismiss a possible connection.
Something i found pretty interesting is that the planet that's being explored in this year's space sets has been named planet X in a recent magazine (as in the planet X galaxy)
I agree! I really enjoy it when LEGO fleshes out a story just enough for a good plot, and then keep a few bits left out for the fans to use their imagination :) I'm glad you found the video informative! :)
This was a great guide and a good introduction for me of this theme which also makes something clear to me. Lego for a number of years has used it's Lego City theme to release space sets and in my opinion 2024 has been the best space sets so far BUT when these sets are released within their own theme rather than the City theme Lego's creativity is truly unleashed, Galaxy Squad is a great illustration of that. What is also striking to me about this Galaxy Squad is that it looks like it is based or has a TV show associated with it as the vehicles, mechs, ships and minifigs have so much character and personality in them so I'm already loving this theme. Again great stuff from you my friend and your good work is very much appreciated😊😊

I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the lore dive, and also found it informative! :D LEGO Galaxy Squad did have two short videos created for the theme, plus a few commercials, but unfortunately that's about it for video content. They have so much for the story world, but unfortunately it was never all in one place: some bits in a video, some in a magazine, etc. I personally think this is why the theme wasn't received well when it first launched.

@@minifigsinspace I think Lego learned from the failure of Galaxy Squad as I see the Dreamzzz theme is implementing lessons learned because in my opinion they're putting as much effort into the TV show as they are the sets themselves. After watching this video I would love to see a Galaxy Squad 2 but rather than a TV show it would be tied to a Galaxy Squad movie to bring the best chance of success for the theme. After The Lego Movie 2 Lego split with Warner Bros Pictures and in 2020 established a five year deal with Universal Pictures so one can hope.
I personally collected only a handful of the smaller sets... it was the minifigs that caught my attention mostly (LOL). I see what you mean by it resembling the Gunstar! I wonder if that's where the designers pulled inspiration from for the ship design?
I really liked this space theme. It reminded me a lot of Halo if it were to be made into Lego. The minifigures look way cooler if you swap out the clear visor pieces with any of the solid colors. Black, gold, or lime green looks amazingly good.
I 100% agree, Galaxy Squad is one of my top favorite LEGO Space themes :) I see what you mean about how they resemble Halo! I have used black and gold visors in the past as well, my personal favorite are the gold ones.
@@minifigsinspace Yes gold works exceptionally well with that helmet design! Also not sure if you've ever tried swapping for lime green visors because that color absolutely POPS especially paired with the blue and green helmets. 👍

Thank you for this Galaxy Squad summary. I liked the design of both human and insectoid factions, but I didn't like the violent aspect of this theme (which was similarly present in Mars Mission).
You're welcome! I'm glad you found the summary informative :) That's understandable. I personally appreciate a balance of peaceful exploration with some occasional plot-moving conflict. I like how LEGO chose to bring back LEGO space as peaceful explorers in the 2024 City line, as it's been decades since we've had some peaceful sci-fi exploration :)
Ah, dammit. I was hoping I'd find something on the final two planets from Bug Battle (FTW and DAL) here. Can't find gameplay of those documented anywhere. Any idea where to find more about them? Currently working on a little project for Mars Mission that'll have some GS crossover happening, so any additional info would be greatly appreciated.
From my research, it appears that while planets FTW and DAL where listed in the game, LEGO never made them as levels available to played. I dived back through Internet Archive hoping to find more info (or even the web game itself), but alas it appears to have pretty much disappeared. A theory I have running in the back of my mind is that the Galaxy Squad theme was cut short. LEGO had the two additional worlds planned in the game, but when sales weren't doing well, they abandoned the project altogether, leaving us hanging. At the time Galaxy Squad wasn't received very well, and I think in large part it was because they didn't market the story very well. Now that fans can "look back in the mirror" so speak and connect the dots, the story makes a lot more sense and is gaining popularity in recent times. I did find in my research that the old Galaxy Squad game might be available on the Apple app store, but since I do not have an iPhone I couldn't check myself. I think I found one random website that might have had it archived, but it looked a little sketchy so I didn't try accessing it. If you have extra time you might be able to find the game on internet archive, but you will need Adobe flash player to be able to even attempt to use it. I think I recall finding the page that the game was on, but it said I needed Adobe flash player which I couldn't access because it is retired. I don't know if it could be actually played with the flash player, or if it was a screenshot of the message captured through internet archive. Sorry this is a long explanation, but hopefully this gives you a couple possible pointers! One last thing that comes to mind is to find someone who has the old Galaxy Squad iPhone game app downloaded on their phone. Best of luck with your crossover project! :D
@@minifigsinspace oh, they were playable for a very short time. I don't remember much from them, only the boss fight against the Hive Crawler in the last level. I think it threw cocoons at you that you needed to shoot down or something. it's all a bit blury, due to it being 10 years ago and me only playing the levels once per faction, but I do know they were playable. again, for a short time.
