The White Sox were the class of the AL Central and looked to be stacked to make a World Series run in 2022. Instead, they struggled to maintain a .500 record all year and couldn't even land a wildcard spot. What went wrong? In this video, I pick apart their season and find the culprits.

You really summed up a lot of my thoughts perfectly man. As a fan who watched all season I had weeks where I thought we were gonna turn it around and make a run for a world series and then next week I'd be pissed about how garbage we looked. One of the most "mid" teams of all time. I hope they do anything significant this offseason and hire Joe Espada.

As someone who was pulling for them considering i had them winning the pennant, I was right there with you thinking some weeks they were finally breaking through, and others where they looked like crap.

Do you think you would do a video on the shortcomings of the Dodgers over the last couple of years and their failure to secure a dynasty? Or perhaps even on the topic of the Yankees being humiliated in the ALCS? Hell, as a Phillies fan, even a video on the new Wild Card Series format would be cool as well. There's been a LOT of salty Mets, Dodgers, and Braves fans criticizing the "validity" of the new Wild Card format and it's been hilarious to read so far. Keep up the great content, as always.
@homerunproductions162
@homerunproductions162 Год назад
All of those topics would be interesting, though the Yankees getting demolished in the ALCS was expected....I think the team we saw in the 2nd half and playoffs were the real Yankees, the team I thought would land in the mid-80s in wins and not end up with 99 and a 1st round bye. Totally outclassed by the Astros like most other teams.

Dropped the home run approach for a singles approach, our hitters stopped drawing walks, our runners stopped hustling, and made bone headed mistakes on the bases. And we literally had the worst defense in the league. Yup, that spells doom. And unless our players work hard on defense in the offseason among other things, like pitch recognition...we can expect the same in 2023
@homerunproductions162
@homerunproductions162 Год назад
Pretty much sums it up
@showtimenick824
@showtimenick824 Год назад
I wouldn't say dropping a home run approach is a bad thing as that's been the Yankees downfall for years. Everything else you said though, those are things that need to change. What the Yankees and White Sox should realize and it's amazing they don't as professionals is baseball is very situational and your approach needs to be different depending on every single situation.
@vancelubben5300
@vancelubben5300 Год назад
We need a hitting coach that emphasizes our hitters drawing walks. We were near the bottom in that category this year. Get those runners on base so we can score runs!!!

Get used to it with Reinsdorf. This is the guy who was the catalyst behind the 94 strike and refuses to sign any players with Boras as an agent. Instead of Machado you get grandal, instead of Harper how about Dallas Keuchel. You can forget about Judge. Sign 2nd tier talent as a "contender" on shorter and more disposable contracts, assemble a roster good enough for 2nd place and keep fans optimistic enough to buy tickets and merchandise. As a Cubs fan I love it, as a Bulls fan I hate it. Don't let the rings distract you from the fact that he's an awful owner.
@homerunproductions162
@homerunproductions162 Год назад
That makes sense. They have definitely found success without signing the big time names but so far that success has been pretty limited.
@ThrillSeekersandHellRaisers
I keep saying that if the Bulls/Sox want to win they have to get rid of Reinsdorf. He's about as bad as "Dollar" Bill Wirtz. Maybe not that bad.
@chipramsey9895

@@chipramsey9895Remember that 2010 NBA free agent class where the Bulls prized free agent was Carlos Boozer? Their anecdote to get past Miami was replacing Watson with a washed up Rip Hamilton. Ditto Pau Gasol and many others. Only once spending over the cap in 2013-14 which lasted a month before shipping Deng. The 2005 Sox simply caught lightening in a bottle with an unexpectedly high performing starting rotation while subtracting Lee and Magglio for Dye, Scotty Pods and AJ. That was a roster constructed for 2nd place and scored almost a run fewer than 04. The Reinsdorf way. I'm a Cub fan that sees right through his strategy.
@MrZinjanthropus
@MrZinjanthropus Год назад
You're absolutely spot on. Reinsdorf only cares about making money. He let go of the greatest athlete ever to play any professional sport. Jordan wanted to continue to win championships. Everything Reinsdorf says about wanting to win is a lie. Let's see, one championship in 42 years with the Sox. 1/42 = pathetic. He inherited Jordan. Jordan is the only reason the Bulls won championships. Who breaks up a championship team??? Jerry does, to get a better ROI. Reinsdorf makes more money if his teams come in 2nd or 3rd place.

Although it was a failure the scary part is that there is WAYYYY too much talent on this team to be THIS bad. How is it that in the first half of 2021 with a team that included Billy Hamilton, Danny Mendick, Jake Lamb, and Brian Goodwin as starters to fill in for injuries, we were almost 25 games over .500? When we got healthy in July of 2021 we suddenly went .500 with guys like Eloy, Grandal and Robert coming back.
