Part of the reason why my ancestors not at peace due to how they died….these ancient souls have been returning…and they have their swords sharpen for war
People have misconceptions about Gilgamesh’s quest for immortality, people believe in a second death around this time period. When your physical body and your second death comes when your legacy fades away and your name no longer spoken or remember within the minds of others. The great story of his life has still been discussed and people still remember and know his name, in essence he accomplished his goal and reached immortality. We see the revers happen as well many rulers of Egypt made their structures in a manner of witch to be remembered as well king tut’s was hidden away and people went to grate lengths just to hide his legacy however in doing this all other pharos had been grave robbed and were mostly forgotten however in tuts case he was re discover and restore his memory.
isn't this immortality plant he ate more or less the same as in Rig vedas soma? or haoma in zoroastrism ? Or the golden apples of immortality of Idun in northen mythology, Or the golden peaches in chinese mythology? or the ergot rhye drink in greek mythology, or the eucharist in christianity? Or the key of Immortality , the ankh that the pharaos are feeding each other in the hieroglyphs? Perhaps the plant were different in different regions. But the experience of being born again, is something anyone can experience from a psychedelic drug. either you tried it and you know exactly what i talk about. And you haven't and you think i am completly nuts.
Could be a translation of a vision, a premonition, also the implication of not sleeping might be a reference that he doesn't need to rest or he never lowers his guard, or doesn't need of no one
game is in the 'word' gilGAMEsh. Our Father in Heaven told me to tell the people "the truth is IN the word' and HE showed me jerUSAlem is also jeruSALEM in the last days is now days... = 2nd coming is a repeat of the Bible and why people will say: "this is Biblical" or 'these are biblical times'
@@nettejohnson7492 The ancients not having a single connection with a West Germanic language notwithstanding, Sumerian was an ergative language hinged around an adjunction of syllables. So, if you want to find clever alternate meanings to the name, you better be looking at the alternate senses of "ga" or "me" on a old babylonian dictionary.
I have to listen again. So Gilgamesh literally given everything from a beautiful body, amazing hair, great strength, women, wine, riches, and considered the perfect made man by the gods, was thwarted in the end by a broken heart and the fear of death. Wow. Fear is a killer. Broken hearts.. Ouch. This was definilty epic. I like how the gods argued about the rash decision to flood out folks just cause they were loud.
The book of Enoch speaks that these demi gods are actually the demons today. Gilgamesh strong as a star. In the bible the stars are the angels. That book is in the time when many angels rebelled against God and made giant children on earth so God made hell for these fallen angels and their sons without forgving them (the reply given to Enoch after they asked for forgiveness) so they started to teach people witchcraft and to make weapons. These sons were very stong, wise and sadistic that they ate people and lived for 500 years and after their death their spirits were and are known as evil spirits or demons today. This demi god gilgames is son of a fallen angel.
@@seven7upndown241so many Bible believers refuse to believe that story! Pastor's of whole denominations say no that's not what it's saying. Apparently everyone else around back then did!
@@dehjkliproductionse4222 very true. Id personally like to see someone tackle this story by displaying the story we hear compared to the truth it’s describing. For example the portion about slaying the cedar forest demon, is actually about a military conquest. Enkidu is enki of Eridu, a real man, and the great cedar forest is ancient Lebanon/western turkey, and most of what we call Israel today. Those people who dwelt there prayed to a super old very large Cedar tree in the forest center. This is why when they slay the demon they take his “corpse” back and make a tavern archway out of it. It’s not a monster it’s a monstrous tree that people tried their best to hide from foreigners so they wouldn’t attempt to cut it down. That’s what the cloaks are about, they are not magical they are diversions set up by people. People who gilgamesh most certainly had killed. The epic itself tells this story through symbolism. The same can be said about the bill of heaven, which is often depicted as a man wearing golden armor fashioned to look like a bull. It was the flashy armor that did the individual in because of the addition of a leather tail. It would be very cool to see someone tell the story for what it is even overlayed with the truth of the matter. Gilgamesh also isn’t a name it’s a title that means “valley of the sun”. King gilgamesh literally means “king of the valley of the sun”. The whole story is showing how the pursuit of glory will only result in being alone, and unhappy. This fact is what causes him so much desperation at the end of the epic. It would absolutely need to be done right but someone I feel could do it with enough support and talent
+Bwkjam Except for the fact that it's not a cliche when it's the very first on record! You can't call an original a copy, everything after is the real cliche xD
I've never read nor listened to the whole epic before, only a few choice parts in grade school. It was very entertaining to listen, and I thank you for making it. I hope that this channel becomes a success Sargon.
Gilgamesh has been featured in at least 4 final fantasy games as a legendary warrior with four arms and legendary swords. Final fantasy also features some of the monsters from the epic of Gilgamesh.

@sungirl reloaded Babylon aka Irag was founded by the Samarian in between the Tigris and Euphrates. They called it Eden. Also the word angel comes from the Samarian word Annuakki means messenger. The Epic of Gilgamesh is the oldest story written in the oldest written language. It all roots back to Samaria.
Thank god for this, I had to read it for school and instead of having to make time to read it manually I got to listen this way in the car and during other activities. I'm usually not a fan of audiobooks, but you would make a killing narrating more cause I actually enjoyed this

Beowulf's story is actually a fallen angel that lives in the sea made children with people and their chidlren were recognised as demi gods in their time or in this situation these children are destorying and killing coz its their nature.

Great idea for a channel. Thank you very much for this! One of the reasons I subscribed to you was the fact that you teach about history. So this is right up my alley.

*EXCELLENT READING !!!* One little suggestion though. If you could find more pictures based on the book that you're reading, that would be nice. Yeah, I know its an audiobook ... but since its on RU-vid ... well, you know the rest ... 10/10 for awesome Sargon voice.
Ancient Recitations I rather prefer the single picture to a slideshow. Since it is just audio, a slideshow with lower quality images would just be a distraction compared to what you have now.
@@blackopsy9 you don't have to watch the screen if your just listening but there is some amazing art and architecture from this time and I for one would love to see a tie in Thanks to sargon really enjoyed your reading. Have you done anything with Irving Finkel?
Fascinating, thank you. It seems as though a harem was simply not enough, but Gilgamesh seemed to be a practitioner of Prima Nocta before it became hip.
Here’s a passage which can be interpreted to explain that the result of your actions are your immortality, not an immortal soul: “O Gilgamesh, this was the meaning of your dream. You were given the kingship, such was your destiny, everlasting life was not your destiny. Because of this do not be sad at heart, do not be grieved or oppressed; he has given you power to bind and to loose, to be the darkness and the light of mankind.”
Thank you so so so much for doing this, I am sharing this with my brother and my mother, and my mothers mother at this moment, and we are all loving it

@@jmpierce83 I know you're seeking truth if you're here. Try Gnostic texts. Written by Yashua. Real Christianity. Then read parables of Kryon. Come find me when done
Fake There's nothing about Gilgamesh conjuring weapons from golden circles in the air and throwing them at his enemies WITH HIS MIND And where's his rotating cylinder sword that can break the world apart? WHAT FORGERY
TheLofychewim don't think he can be any of those, except Berserker. His main Noble Phantasm is Gate of Babylon, which is only fitting to the Archer class.
I believe it's to show his great size and stature as it appears to be a lion and hes holding it in one arm showing his strength and size to be much stronger then the average man of today
Constructive Critique: I would like you to give characters a bit more emphasis. Dialogue should be spoken in a slightly different tone, more "acting" than when you narrate. Basically having the mother of Gilgamesh have a different voice than Gilgamesh, maybe add a bit more pauses here and there for emphasis etc. Though I understand you are not a professional reader, I thought maybe you could tried it out next time. Other than that, thank you for reading, I didn't know the story.
I completely agree, and I really like how AR responded. I didnt plan on subbing, but i did because of the way he took correction. :) Very mature and good advice! :)
Once I ran to you (I ran) Now I run from you This tainted love you've given I give you all a boy could give you Take my tears and that's not nearly all Tainted love, whoa whoa whoa Tainted love...
Such a wonderful story about the human mind. I very well may be wrong im my interpretation of this i see it as being an allegorical guide of sorts for looking within ourselves.
Urantia: 15:14.9 Your planet is a member of an enormous cosmos; you belong to a well-nigh infinite family of worlds, but your sphere is just as precisely administered and just as lovingly fostered as if it were the only inhabited world in all existence.
When you stare at the statue for hours you start to pick up little details like the cute little lioness firmly clenching Gilgamesh's tower of power with her hind claw.. He also seems to be wearing a Swatch, which has got to be one of the earliest known examples of product placement. But on a more serious note, I really love this epic and the reading is perfect. It's kind of funny that such an early narrative makes the supreme macho man syndrome responsible for so much conflict, although I'm sure the Sumerians were no feminists either, because Ishtar is about as she-devilish as you can get. .
i couldnt stop laughing when enkidu was about to curse that prostitute to be a street hooker with no brothel to work out of just to have his mind changed and then blessed her with dick jewels and a husband. Like wtf yo😭😭😭
The bracelet he has isn’t a watch the symbol on it is an esoteric symbol meaning integrity that goes far back to the cave paintings even. It’s been theorized that cave paintings were a written language the whole world once knew based on the fact that we’re ever you go on earth they repeat the same symbols but something happened and separated the cultures from each other. And ever culture has a flood story so it was probably that and Gilgamesh did clams to know the language before the flood so yeah.
@@mannybear4691 most cave paintings are similar but not the same. they normally represent the animals that they hunted and basic things such as their handprint, or stick figures, which many young children do when they are young even today.
@@RelivingHistory1 there’s more than just pictures cave paintings tend to have words not just stick figures. 20000 years ago there was an ice age and the resulting water level rise caused between 5 and 8% of the earth’s total land mass to be submerged. That taken in to account most civilizations build around costal areas and spread from there every culture in the world has the same myth or story of a global flood that wiped out a more advanced civilization before them with a few survivors afterwards. My guess is the cave paintings are what’s the survivors made and even today if civilization collapsed and a small number of people survived most being people with little to no education in writing or art because there’s not that many great artists or writers today as is. I’m sure the clues they live behind in writing would look like something a child could make 8000 years later. There speculation in the archeology community about how it’s very likely people at one point shared a very common language and writing system based off the cave symbols such as the spiral and zig zag and others because of the manner there used in to try and tell a story with the support of pictures like people or stick men and animals . Also it’s been noted that if the cave paintings are viewed using a torch instead of a flash light it makes them look like they move. And that explains why you see some animals with two heads or six legs. Also the costal area all I’ve the world have proof of advanced stone work such as Atlit Yam that’s probably 9000 years old and Yonaguni monument in Japan some 5000 years old. There was also an underwater city discovered near Cuba in 2001 estates say 5000 years old also Lake Michigan has a stone hinge that’s 9000 years old that’s a big mystery considering most native Americans in North America never developed the ability to make stone structures or even simple metal works and Bimini Road. So most of these structures predate the Sumer Valley by at least 3000 years and they were the “first civilization”
@@mannybear4691 but then how do you explain the fact that almost all of the cave paintings are from 45,000/15,000BC? and again spirals and zig zags are very common drawings in all children, humans have always loved patterns and symmetry, so i would definitely find it hard to believe they represented some magic universal language....I am sure there were civilisations that predated the sumerians, but they are the ones that we have the most information about, because they left us tables filled with their writings, unlike these older civilisations.
There are so many things in here that are clear examples of what Christ came to fix. Such as characterizing Gilgamesh as a ruler who lords it over his subjects when he should be as a shepherd, and when they were going to see Humbaba, it says the way was broad and the going was easy, yet Jesus says the way to life is narrow, and it is difficult. Gilgamesh is the example of how the rulers of this world behave who have no hope of eternal life, which this text even says that Gilgamesh is not given eternal life.
Can you guys believe that we are still finding more lost pieces of this beautiful story to this day. I hope I live long enough to hear the complete story once we find all of the missing pieces.
“But you, Gilgamesh, let your belly be full, Enjoy yourself always by day and by night! Make merry each day, Dance and play day and night! Let your clothes be clean, Let your head be washed, may you bathe in water! Gaze on the child who holds your hand, Let your wife enjoy your repeated embrace! For such is the destiny of mortal men.” - Epic of Gilgamesh
He was made from one of the earth goddesses and he was a demon. About 25 feet tall judging from that lion in his arms.. what's a demon ,this is anything fallen angels procreate human or animal.
