@IPAsAndSunshine
@IPAsAndSunshine Год назад
@@dehjkliproductionse4222 very true. Id personally like to see someone tackle this story by displaying the story we hear compared to the truth it’s describing. For example the portion about slaying the cedar forest demon, is actually about a military conquest. Enkidu is enki of Eridu, a real man, and the great cedar forest is ancient Lebanon/western turkey, and most of what we call Israel today. Those people who dwelt there prayed to a super old very large Cedar tree in the forest center. This is why when they slay the demon they take his “corpse” back and make a tavern archway out of it. It’s not a monster it’s a monstrous tree that people tried their best to hide from foreigners so they wouldn’t attempt to cut it down. That’s what the cloaks are about, they are not magical they are diversions set up by people. People who gilgamesh most certainly had killed. The epic itself tells this story through symbolism. The same can be said about the bill of heaven, which is often depicted as a man wearing golden armor fashioned to look like a bull. It was the flashy armor that did the individual in because of the addition of a leather tail. It would be very cool to see someone tell the story for what it is even overlayed with the truth of the matter. Gilgamesh also isn’t a name it’s a title that means “valley of the sun”. King gilgamesh literally means “king of the valley of the sun”. The whole story is showing how the pursuit of glory will only result in being alone, and unhappy. This fact is what causes him so much desperation at the end of the epic. It would absolutely need to be done right but someone I feel could do it with enough support and talent

People have misconceptions about Gilgamesh’s quest for immortality, people believe in a second death around this time period. When your physical body and your second death comes when your legacy fades away and your name no longer spoken or remember within the minds of others. The great story of his life has still been discussed and people still remember and know his name, in essence he accomplished his goal and reached immortality. We see the revers happen as well many rulers of Egypt made their structures in a manner of witch to be remembered as well king tut’s was hidden away and people went to grate lengths just to hide his legacy however in doing this all other pharos had been grave robbed and were mostly forgotten however in tuts case he was re discover and restore his memory.

So looking forward to listening to this later. It's unbelievable that it's never popped up in my 'recommended viewing'. Then when I heard the voice narrating it, I thought "I'm sure that's Sargon of Akkad". So Thanks Carl. I've been a follower of yours for years. This really took me by surprise when it popped up. I've subscribed to this channel now, to go through your back catalogue. I already subscribe to your other historical channel, as well as Akkad Daily. Excellent stuff. Really great, relaxing reading style too. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

When you stare at the statue for hours you start to pick up little details like the cute little lioness firmly clenching Gilgamesh's tower of power with her hind claw.. He also seems to be wearing a Swatch, which has got to be one of the earliest known examples of product placement. But on a more serious note, I really love this epic and the reading is perfect. It's kind of funny that such an early narrative makes the supreme macho man syndrome responsible for so much conflict, although I'm sure the Sumerians were no feminists either, because Ishtar is about as she-devilish as you can get. .

The bracelet he has isn’t a watch the symbol on it is an esoteric symbol meaning integrity that goes far back to the cave paintings even. It’s been theorized that cave paintings were a written language the whole world once knew based on the fact that we’re ever you go on earth they repeat the same symbols but something happened and separated the cultures from each other. And ever culture has a flood story so it was probably that and Gilgamesh did clams to know the language before the flood so yeah.
@RelivingHistory1
@RelivingHistory1 Год назад
@@mannybear4691 most cave paintings are similar but not the same. they normally represent the animals that they hunted and basic things such as their handprint, or stick figures, which many young children do when they are young even today.
@mannybear4691
@mannybear4691 Год назад
@@RelivingHistory1 there’s more than just pictures cave paintings tend to have words not just stick figures. 20000 years ago there was an ice age and the resulting water level rise caused between 5 and 8% of the earth’s total land mass to be submerged. That taken in to account most civilizations build around costal areas and spread from there every culture in the world has the same myth or story of a global flood that wiped out a more advanced civilization before them with a few survivors afterwards. My guess is the cave paintings are what’s the survivors made and even today if civilization collapsed and a small number of people survived most being people with little to no education in writing or art because there’s not that many great artists or writers today as is. I’m sure the clues they live behind in writing would look like something a child could make 8000 years later. There speculation in the archeology community about how it’s very likely people at one point shared a very common language and writing system based off the cave symbols such as the spiral and zig zag and others because of the manner there used in to try and tell a story with the support of pictures like people or stick men and animals . Also it’s been noted that if the cave paintings are viewed using a torch instead of a flash light it makes them look like they move. And that explains why you see some animals with two heads or six legs. Also the costal area all I’ve the world have proof of advanced stone work such as Atlit Yam that’s probably 9000 years old and Yonaguni monument in Japan some 5000 years old. There was also an underwater city discovered near Cuba in 2001 estates say 5000 years old also Lake Michigan has a stone hinge that’s 9000 years old that’s a big mystery considering most native Americans in North America never developed the ability to make stone structures or even simple metal works and Bimini Road. So most of these structures predate the Sumer Valley by at least 3000 years and they were the “first civilization”
@RelivingHistory1
@RelivingHistory1 Год назад
@@mannybear4691 but then how do you explain the fact that almost all of the cave paintings are from 45,000/15,000BC? and again spirals and zig zags are very common drawings in all children, humans have always loved patterns and symmetry, so i would definitely find it hard to believe they represented some magic universal language....I am sure there were civilisations that predated the sumerians, but they are the ones that we have the most information about, because they left us tables filled with their writings, unlike these older civilisations.

The Narrator doesn't quite fire the imagination that such an incredible tale deserves, I'd imagine that professional actors apprising the character voice overs coupled with appropriate sound effects would send this unbelievable story into the stratosphere, 'The Epic of Gilgamesh' wow, makes one wonder? truth or fiction, can't wait for the movie.
